It was even worse as the culprits responsible weren't able to be arrested and so they got away with it. The Shipmans sued Alan but the case was eventually dropped because there wasn't any substantial evidence against him.
Alan Reyes got involved in some shady deals with the syndicates and after going against them. They threatened his life and that of his family's.
He was trapped deeper than he had imagined and not until Silvia became the CEO of Reyes' Corp. was she able to strategically free themselves completely from any relationship with the mafias.
