Chapter 11 - Till death do us apart

"There's no need for that. Bring everything to my house, I'll take Davian's to him myself," Silvia interjected.

"Oh, alright. If you say so. Uhm, I'm also adding the night wears, you guys should have it," Mrs. Reyes replied and the duo nodded.

They got into the car and drove off.

"What did my father say to you?" Silvia asked, they both turned to face each other.

"Nothing much other than he threatened to kill me if I hurt you which is actually our way out of this contract," he replied.

"You don't have to worry. Uhm, I can get you and your mother out of the country when the contract ends," Silvia suggested.

"(Scoffs) That's to say, you've confirmed that your father is truly capable of murder," he replied. "What about you?" he added, his eyes stared at hers as if searching for something in those amber eyes.

"Think whatever you want," she replied and looked out the window. He didn't expect less from rich people, most of them were ruthless and willing to do anything for power.

"Money is not everything. I've been in this country, this city, almost all my life. It's where I call home. I don't need you to get me out, what I need from you is to guarantee my safety and that of my loved ones, understand?" he said.

"Is this your house?" he asked as they drove into the parking lot of a beautiful house.

"No," she replied. They both got off of the car when it came to a stop.

"It's yours soon to be ours when we get married," she added.

He was dumbfounded. The house wasn't a mansion, it was a simple but beautiful duplex with pure white paintings, he had wondered what they were doing in a GRA. Several flowers and trees complimented the surroundings.

"And this is your car," she continued tossing a key at him which he caught. A black sports car was parked in front of him, he didn't pay much attention to it when they were entering the parking lot.

"No. No...I-I can't accept any of these. It wasn't stated in the contract," he said.

"True but it's only the car that can be yours forever, your ownership of the house expires when the contract does. Don't refuse, you don't have to move in now. It's just necessary in case of emergencies and this is where we will live after we get married," she explained.

He wasn't sure if he could leave his mother all alone at his place. What if...he trailed off in his thoughts.

"You don't have to worry. I'll hire a maid for her when the time comes," It was as if she read his mind.

"I really don't think I can keep all these from my mom, she won't believe me if I lie about it. She never knew I had a girlfriend talk less of a fiancée," he drawled.

"You know she might feel bad if you tell her the truth," she responded.

"Yes. Yes I know but she will also feel bad if I lie to her," he sighed.

"Then tell her if you want. But wait till she recovers first, our wedding won't be set by then. Her surgery is scheduled for today. You should go," she said and he nodded.

He got into the car but halted when he was about to start the car, they were in a agreement that will benefit both of them, but he still found the need to tell her this...

"Thank you," he said and she nodded after some while. He drove off to the hospital immediately.

Silvia got into her car and instructed the driver to take her home. She had somewhere to go. When she got home, she took a quick shower and also dressed up quickly. She went out of her house.

"The shipman's mansion," she said to her driver who opened the car's door for her, she got in and he started the car.

"Please drive a little faster. I need to catch up with them before they leave for work," she said.

"Okay, Ms. Reyes," Noah answered and sped off.

In no time, they arrived there. Silvia opened the door by herself and rushed into the mansion where she found Axel Shipman, Olivia's brother and their father, Philip shipman, preparing to leave. Olivia and her mother, Gloria Shipman were also there. Olivia was a little astonished to see Silvia.

"What the hell do you think you're doing here, Reyes?!" Axel Raged at just the sight of Silvia.

"I'm here to make a bargain with you," Silvia said going straight to the point.

"And why the hell do you think I would make a bargain with you?" he responded.

"I know our families has had their differences but let's put it aside and talk about what I have to offer," she persuaded, trying to suppress her urge to just punch him in the face.

"I'm here to say that I'm willing to sponsor and fund Shipman enterprises, no strings attached," she continued.

There was silence. Axel broke it with his sardonic laughter.

"You think I don't know what you are doing here you sly witch. You want shares in our company, don't you?" he said.

"No, I don't. All I want is for you to refrain from your plans of wanting Olivia to get pregnant for Leonard Yul," she stated her only condition. Axel smirked, now he knew what all these was all about.

"Get out now, 'Ms. Reyes'. But...I will consider your proposal," he responded.

"Please do. She doesn't have to suffer for your mistakes," she said.

"Don't step your feet into my house ever again. Last time I checked, you and your family were banned, restricted from entering into any of the Shipman's properties," Philip finally spoke up.

"I was on my way out, Mr. Shipman," Silvia said. She glanced at Olivia, she didn't look relieved that she had talked to her brother, her expression was that of anxiety, as if what Silvia had just did, only made her situation worse.

"Come here, Olivia!" Axel grabbed her hand immediately Silvia left.

"Let go, Axel!" she cried but he continued to drag her upstairs.

"I said let go, let go...mom!" she cried for her mother, the only person who could save her but her savior was pinned with just one glare from her father.

"Let him teach her a lesson," her father said.

Axel dragged her up to her room and held her by her long jet black hair, so aggressively.

"So you still went ahead to tell those dumb friends of yours about my plans, huh?" he said.

"Axel I-" he cut her off with a slap. Olivia felt as if her cheek was being pierced by pins, it sting.

He slapped her again and held her by her hair, he made her kneel and he pressed her head on her bed suffocating her, her hands squeezed on the bed sheets. He eventually stopped suffocating her as she was at the verge of passing out.

She grasped for air.

"The only reason why I'm stopping your punishment here is because I want you to look pretty for Mr. Yul. The next time you go against me, I'll make sure to knock the living day light out of you.

"Keep this in mind, that your reason for existence is to do this and the time is near. Go and tell that Reyes brat my feedback and it is...she should go screw herself!" he said and finally let go of her. He walked out of the room and Olivia broke down immediately.

She hugged her knees in tears, her fingers almost piercing through her legs as she clenches them. This was her life, the insults and assaults started little by little when she was a teenager and worsened at adolescence.

Her father and brother treated her like a property to be auctioned someday to the highest bidder and her mom did nothing about it. Olivia herself did nothing about it, she just let them treat her like trash because the few times she stood up to them didn't end well.

Her mother once told her that in order to survive with men like them, who treated women like that, she just had to keep quiet and act as if she wasn't there, as if she never existed in front of them. But she was tired, she was dying in silence, beyond the Shipman's mansion nobody knew about the assaults.

Now, she was afraid that if she eventually got pregnant for Leonard Yul and married him, she might end up like her mother, trapped in a painful existence of eternal suffering, till death do us apart.
