Chapter 4 - Promise to Oneself

As Harris's consciousness settled into his new baby form, his eyes widened in surprise. He looked up at his mother, Cynthia, and was taken aback by her ethereal beauty. Her silver hair cascaded down her shoulders, framing a face that radiated warmth and love. The love in her eyes was undeniable as she gazed down at him, her precious child.

Beside Cynthia stood Elena, a red-haired enchanting girl of around twelve. Her mischievous eyes sparkled with curiosity as she examined her new baby brother. Harris couldn't help but notice her confident and playful demeanor, as if she was ready to embark on a grand adventure.

On the other side, he saw Myrine, a silver-haired child who sat on a wheelchair. Her sweet smile and gentle gaze tugged at Harris's heartstrings. He felt a pang of sympathy for her, but also a sense of admiration for her resilience and the love she radiated despite her physical limitations.

Among the maids surrounding the room, one in particular stood out. A maid with glasses, her eyes sparkling with intelligence, caught Harris's attention. Her presence exuded a sense of competence and authority, while her kind smile brought a sense of comfort and assurance.

As Harris took in the sight of his family and the maids, a mix of awe and disbelief washed over him. Harris was still confused about what was going on. But he started understanding the foreign words that made no sense till now.

"Wait a minute... Did I just hear my name being mentioned? Alex Von Winterhaven? That's not a name I remember having. And why is everyone looking at me with such excitement? Oh no, don't tell me I've been... transmigrated! You know, like those characters in those crazy isekai novels I used to read. But seriously, couldn't I have been reborn as a powerful hero or a mystical creature? No, instead, I'm stuck here as a newborn baby with no control over my bodily functions."

Harris looks down at his tiny hands, wiggling his fingers.

"Great, just great! I can barely move these chubby little things. I used to be all about agility and stealth, and now I'm reduced to this... a squirming little bundle of joy. Joy? Who am I kidding? I'm more like a squirming bundle of confusion and diapers!"

Harris glances at the adults around him, trying to make sense of the situation.

"Okay, let's assess the situation. I'm in a baby form, born into the Winterhaven family. The Winterhavens, huh? Sounds noble and all, but what good is nobility when you can't even control your own bowels? And these maids and midwives fussing over me like I'm some sort of royalty. I can already see the future headlines: 'Baby Alex Von Winterhaven demands an extra helping of mashed peas!'"

Harris lets out a frustrated sigh, then a mischievous smile crosses his face.

"But maybe being a baby has its advantages. No responsibilities, no bills to pay, just eat, sleep, and poop all day long. Not too shabby, I guess. And hey, if I'm going to be stuck in this adorable yet helpless state, I might as well make the most of it. Who knows, maybe I'll become the world's first baby genius, solving complex mathematical equations before I can even speak. That would surely impress the other babies at the playgroup."

Harris chuckles to himself, finding some humor in his peculiar situation.

"So, here I am, Harris, the high school delinquent turned baby prodigy. Watch out, world! I may be small and drooling, but I've got big plans. And who knows, maybe this whole transmigration thing will turn out to be the greatest adventure of my life. Diapers and all!"

"Hold on a second! why is my mother's ears so long, is she cosplaying,....., nah no one cosplays while giving birth and these ears look natural, I mean even the red haired girl beside me has long ears but at a lower angle, same as that maid with glasses, yup this is true now, this is one of those isekai worlds with elves in it. So am I also an elf, or some hybrid, is their gonna be some nonsense regarding half elves being impure an all?" all these questions caused Harris's expression to continuously change as he pondered over them.

Harris smirks, ready to embrace the unpredictable journey that awaits him as he navigates the challenges and absurdities of being a transmigrated baby in a noble family.

As Harris continued his inner monologue, his mother and sisters observed the subtle changes in his facial expression. Cynthia, with a mischievous glint in her eyes, leaned closer to her newborn son.

"Look, Myr, El, our little Alex seems to be pondering some deep thoughts. What do you think he's contemplating, girls?" Cynthia whispered, unable to hide her amusement.

Elena, unable to resist the opportunity for some sibling mischief, leaned in and gently poked Harris's chubby cheek. "Perhaps he's realizing the immense responsibility of being a Winterhaven. It's a tough job, little brother, but don't worry, we'll help you navigate the noble life."

Myrine, giggling from her wheelchair, chimed in, "Or maybe he's planning his first magical experiment. We'll have to keep an eye on you, Alex, especially when you start babbling in tongues."

Harris's inner thoughts erupted in protest as he felt the gentle poke and heard their playful banter.

'Seriously? I'm barely a few hours old, and they're already poking fun at me? Can't a baby have a moment of introspection without being poked and prodded?'

Harris lets out an exaggerated internal scream, imagining himself in a dramatic pose.

'But hey, it's all part of the comedy, right? If I can't outsmart them with my usual delinquent charm, I might as well embrace the absurdity and play along.'

Harris forces a smile on his baby face, looking up at his mother and sisters.

'Oh, how I love being the center of attention. Keep the jokes coming, ladies. I'll be the most precocious and entertaining baby this house has ever seen. Get ready for the show!'

Harris's inner voice echoes with determination as he prepares himself for the comical challenges that await him in this new role.

Cynthia and the girls exchange amused glances, their laughter filling the room.

"He's such a good sport, isn't he? Our little bundle of joy is already a natural entertainer," Cynthia remarked, adoringly gazing at her son.

As if on cue, right after Harris embraced the comedic challenges that lay ahead, baby Alex Von Winterhaven made his presence known in the most unexpected way. A mischievous smile formed on Harris's face as he felt the familiar sensation, a moment of pure comedic gold.

Without warning, a rather explosive sound echoed through the room, and an unmistakable odor permeated the air. Harris had delivered a perfectly timed poop, causing an immediate reaction from everyone present.

Cynthia's eyes widened, and she covered her nose with her hand, trying to maintain her composure. Elena burst into a fit of giggles, barely able to control her laughter. Myrine, in her wheelchair, erupted in uncontrollable laughter, clutching her stomach.

The maids and midwives exchanged startled glances, their eyes widening at the unexpected turn of events. Pia, the head maid, tried to stifle a laugh, but failed miserably. The room filled with a mix of laughter, chuckles, and mock gasps.

"Oh, Alex, my darling, your comedic timing is impeccable," Cynthia managed to say between laughter, trying her best to stay composed.

Harris, still trapped within baby Alex's form, inwardly laughed along with the room. This unexpected twist had turned the tables in the most absurd and hilarious way possible.

'Oh, the power of a well-timed poop! I never thought I'd see the day when my bowel movements would bring so much joy to those around me,' Harris thought to himself, his laughter echoing in his mind.

As the laughter subsided and the air cleared, Cynthia, wiping away her tears of laughter, leaned in closer to baby Alex.

"You, my little comedian, have certainly made a memorable entrance into this world. But remember, comedy is all about timing," she said, a playful glimmer in her eyes.

Harris, still trapped within the baby's body, couldn't help but smirk inwardly. It seemed that his transmigration into the life of baby Alex had turned into a grand comedic performance.

As Harris watched the joyful scene unfold before him, he couldn't help but feel a surge of warmth in his heart. The genuine smiles on his mother's face and the laughter of his sisters resonated deep within him. In that moment, he made a silent promise to himself.

"I may be trapped in this baby's body, but I won't let that stop me from protecting their smiles and bringing laughter into their lives," Harris vowed silently, his determination shining through his eyes.

He knew that life had given him a second chance, an opportunity to be part of a loving family once again. The memories of his past regrets and losses were still fresh in his mind, but this new beginning offered a glimmer of hope, a chance to rewrite his story with laughter and love.

Harris, now baby Alex, was determined to be the best brother and son he could be. He would embrace every challenge, navigate the ups and downs of growing up, and ensure that his family's happiness remained his top priority.

As Cynthia gently cradled baby Alex in her arms, she looked into his eyes and whispered, "You are our little ray of sunshine, my dear. We will protect and cherish you always."

In that moment, Harris felt a renewed sense of purpose. He may have been transmigrated into a baby's body, but he knew that his journey in this new life was just beginning. With a smile on his face and a heart filled with love, he was ready to embrace the adventures that awaited him, all while safeguarding the precious smiles of his beloved family.
