The next day when I woke up, I glanced at Weedle.
It feels like he has grown up a little bit, it made me question whether my initial measurement of his size was correct.
I got out of bed and grabbed the weight scale to measure Weedle's weight and height, just out of curiosity. When he first hatched, Weedle was 0.27 meters tall and weighed 2.8 kg. Now, he has grown to 0.3 meters in height and 3.1 kg in weight. This kind of growth rate is astonishing for only one day.
I initially expected this kind of growth to take around two to three days, but it has occurred much faster than anticipated. Perhaps it's due to Weedle's inherent talent and the quality of the nourishment I have been feeding him.
...
After school in the afternoon, I returned to the grove. I dropped my backpack and stretched my body, preparing to train with Weedle. Now that he has grown, Weedle seems much more energetic.
We started with a run, and Weedle quickly outpaced me. I followed behind, observing how he has much more stamina compared to yesterday. After completing three laps, Weedle showed no signs of fatigue, and I sensed an increase in his energy level.
Impressed by Weedle's endurance, I decided to have him run an extra lap. This time, Weedle started to feel a bit tired afterwards so I took out some honey mixed with water for Weedle to drink and gave it a short break.
Once Weedle was refreshed, we moved on to training his moves. The first move we worked on was String Shot. Yesterday, Weedle could only use it up to 10 times within a 5-meter range. Today, he has shown significant improvement, capable of using String Shot 13 times within a 6-meter range.
After a brief rest, we focused on Bug Bite. Yesterday, Weedle's bug bite left only a shallow mark on a small wooden stick. However, today it managed to nearly penetrate the entire stick with its bite.
Finally, we practiced Poison Sting. I instructed Weedle to use Poison Sting on a small tree nearby. His speed and accuracy in executing the command had significantly improved since yesterday. As soon as I gave the command, Weedle swiftly used Poison Sting, leaving a hole about 3cm wide in the tree, with purple liquid flowing around it. The leaves withered, and the roots began to rot. Witnessing the formidable power of Poison Sting, I made a mental note to buy more detoxification sprays to prevent poisoning and killing wild Pokemon by accident in future battles.
I recorded all the data obtained from today's training session, and then we continued to practice Poison Sting on the tree to see how many times Weedle could use it. The final result was eight times, showing a two-time improvement from yesterday.
Overall, Weedle's progress has exceeded my expectations. It seems that the initial training plan may need adjustment. I have decided to double the intensity of Weedle's training from tomorrow onwards. However, I won't just be a spectator; I will also train alongside Weedle.
In my previous life, my sports training was more focused on aesthetics and lacked practical combat skills. However I did learn some free fighting for six months, and I might put it into practice someday. Learning martial arts also has the benefit of improving balance, preventing stiffness in the limbs, and enhancing reaction speed all good skills needed for a Pokemon trainer.
As the day passed by quickly. At night, I fed Weedle his usual nutritious meal and then proceeded to massage him as I did the day before. Weedle soon fell asleep, just like yesterday.
...
On the next day, I added target practice to yesterday's training regimen. I took out a pack of discarded bottle caps and threw one into the air, instructing Weedle to knock it down with String Shot as soon as I threw it. Weedle nodded in understanding.
During the first few throws, the speed I threw it was moderate, and Weedle easily knocked down the bottle cap with its String Shot. As I gradually increased the speed, Weedle still managed to hit the target. However, when I threw it at full force, Weedle completely missed. I nodded and told Weedle to continue trying. Several attempts followed, but Weedle couldn't hit the rapidly moving bottle cap. It seemed that Weedle's String Shot wasn't fast enough, and the speed of the throws had surpassed its reaction time. I noted these observations and realized that more practice was necessary.
On the third day, I repeated the same training routine with Weedle. After three days of training, I felt that Weedle had reached a suitable level of intensity. It was time to take things a step further and engage in Pokemon battles.
...
Later that evening, I sat at my desk and carefully summarized the training data from the past three days. Weedle now stands at 0.35 meters in height and weighs 3.4 kg, surpassing the average Weedle in size. It has also become proficient in using its three moves: String Shot (16 times), Bug Bite (as long as Weedle has the physical strength), and Poison Sting (10 times). Furthermore, his defensive capabilities have improved as well as I have also been letting Weedle hit himself against trees to toughen his exoskeleton.
Every day seems to drain my finances rapidly, especially with Weedle now consuming expensive Pokémon food. I have around 1,000 yen left from my 20,000 originally, so I need to find a way to earn more money. Part-time jobs won't yield much, but gathering valuable berries and medicinal ingredients in the Viridian Forest could be a lucrative option. Fortunately, I plan to take Weedle there tomorrow to battle wild Pokémon.
...
As time passes by, dawn breaks once again. I rise from bed, prepared and equipped for the day's adventures. I first went to the store and bought two bottles of detoxification spray, which cost me 400 yen. I look at my shrinking wallet with heartache but console myself that I will make money soon. On the way to the Viridian Forest, I encountered my former Youngster Bug Catcher buddies, after a warm greeting, we part ways, and I continue my journey.
Walking along a secluded path, I soon encounter a wild Caterpie and immediately release Weedle from his Poké Ball.
"Come out Weedle," In a burst of white light, Weedle jumped out.
"Now, Weedle use Bug Bite." With a burst of quick movement, Weedle swiftly bites into Caterpie before it can react. Catterpie bitten loses its battle strength in one bite before it could understand what was happening.
Impressed by Weedle's performance, I praise his efforts. Weedle is thrilled, having won his first battle and his self-confidence rises as a result.
To help the defeated Caterpie recover, I walk over and spray it with Potion from my backpack. Once it starts slowly regaining its strength, I offer it some Pokémon food, which it happily consumes. Despite its loss and not fully understanding what the hell just happened, Caterpie seems content just to have a good meal.
