Hideshi continued his search for wild Pokémon, and soon a Rattata emerged from the grass beside him. Weedle, who was following Hideshi, immediately rushed to the front.
"Weedle, use String Shot!" Hideshi commanded.
Weedle aimed his String Shot at the Rattata. The Rattata attempted to dodge but couldn't escape the sticky threads, becoming tightly entangled.
"Weedle, use Poison Sting!" Hideshi commanded again.
Weedle curled up its tail section and stabbed towards the Rattata. The Rattata, unable to escape, took a direct hit. Letting out a terrible growl, it lost its fighting spirit and collapsed to the ground.
Observing Rattata's defeated state, Weedle turned towards Hideshi and chirped proudly, "Bzz bzz."
Weedle's body swayed from side to side, displaying its satisfaction with the battles. Hideshi gently touched the back of Weedle's head and smiled, saying, "I've trained you well, well done you defeated them without difficulty."
Afterwards, Hideshi approached Rattata's side and removed the silk that was tangled around its body. Then he took out a Potion from his backpack to tend to Rattata's injuries, even though it wasn't poisoned the injuries were still quite serious. Finally, he left some Pokémon food, opting for the cheaper variety, as a gesture of compensation.
Next, Hideshi planned to search for some rarer berries. Usually, Hideshi gathered berries to sell for money, but most of the ones outside the Viridian Forest were already picked. To find more, he will have to venture deeper into the forest, which came with its own set of risks such as powerful Pokémon guarding the berry trees.
Considering the pros and cons, Hideshi decided it wasn't worth the risk at this point and chose to explore the outskirts a bit more. As he ventured deeper into the Viridian Forest, the sunlight gradually diminished. It was said that in the depths of the forest, it was completely dark, regardless of the time of day.
Walking cautiously, Hideshi didn't encounter any powerful Pokémon, which eased his fear. He decided to stay in the vicinity rather than delving further into the forest. Suddenly, he heard the cry of a bird growing closer.
"Pidgeot!" the cry echoed through the forest.
Hideshi looked up and spotted a Pidgeot—the evolved form of Pidgeotto and the final form of Pidgey. Its wings and feathers shimmered beautifully, in the sunlight. With its expansive wings, it could intimidate enemies and soar through the sky at incredible speeds. This is why Pidgeot is such a popular Pokémon for trainers to have
Quickly finding a hiding spot, Hideshi observed the distant Pidgeot with cautious eyes. He knew that provoking such a powerful Pokémon would be a death sentence. Not far from Pidgeot, another bird silhouette took flight. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a Fearow.
Fearow and Pidgeot were rivals in the wild, as they share the same habitats, the Pidgeot and Fearow clans often fought for territorial dominance. Soon, a group of Pidgey, Pidgeotto, and Pidgeot emerged, followed by a flock of Spearow and Fearow.
The sky filled with a chorus of bird songs, and Pokémon within range began fleeing frantically. In the chaos, Weedle, in a panic, jumped out of the way of the Pokémon stampede and touched Hideshi with its horn.
Curious, Hideshi asked, "What's wrong, Weedle?"
With a single horn, Weedle pointed in a specific direction and moved a few steps that way.
Understanding Weedle's intent, Hideshi said, "Are you asking me to follow you?"
Weedle nodded and then dashed in the direction it pointed at, with Hideshi closely following. After navigating several twists and turns, they arrived at a secluded area with a nearby cliff.
Hideshi carefully approached and took a closer look. It appeared to be a gathering spot for Pokémon. Through the vines, Hideshi spotted a Pidgey and several Pokémon eggs.
"Is this the nesting place of the Pidgeot group from earlier," Hideshi whispered. He wondered why Weedle had led him there.
Weedle continued to climb forward until reaching a cluster of vines. Hideshi glimpsed multiple Berry Trees beyond the vines, and a quick glance revealed several rare Berries.
Weedle twisted its body, seemingly showing off. Hideshi grinned and said, "Well done!"
It appeared that all the Pidgey, Pidgeotto, and Pidgeot had left the area to fight the Fearow flock. Only one Pidgey remained guard. To pick the Berries, Hideshi knew he had to deal with the Pidgey.
Quietly approaching the Pidgey and hiding nearby, Hideshi lowered his voice and said to Weedle, "Listen to my instructions. When I give the signal, use String Shot as quickly as possible on the Pidgey and entangle it tightly."
Weedle nodded eagerly, ready to follow the plan. Hideshi whispered, "Get ready... Go!"
Without hesitation, Weedle spat out a flurry of sticky threads. Determined to succeed, Weedle tried to spit out as much as possible. The Pidgey in the distance tried to react but was swiftly ensnared in the silk.
"Excellent job, Weedle!" Hideshi praised, and Weedle chirped happily in response.
Hideshi swiftly accompanied Weedle in picking as many berries as they could before Pidgeot returned. Aware that time was limited, they made haste to finish gathering the precious fruits.
