Chapter 16 - CHAPTER 15

Adela's Point of View

I had distanced myself from Primo, and I was with Olivia at a table in a dimly lit area. Close to the pool but not immediately noticeable.

"You're like you've been chased by a horse, tired huh!" Olivia remarked.

"You run so fast!" she added, making me gulp.

"I won't ask what happened, so just chill. Take a shot," Olivia suggested, and I shrugged, causing her eyes to land on something behind me.

"Primo!"

I looked behind me and saw Primo.

He stared at me seriously, so I quickly averted my gaze.

"You're really fast!" Olivia commented, looking at me with uncertainty.

"Adela, I'm sorry. We're not done yet, so please, let's talk," he said, but I was too nervous to respond.

I saw Olivia stand up, attempting to smile at both of us. She probably didn't know how to react.

"Okay, I'll leave again," Olivia said.

I reacted with a plea for her not to go, but she didn't see me, so she left.

Oh damn, I'm lucky.

I was left alone with Primo again.

I said I was going to stop my feelings, but it seems it's not a good idea to suppress emotions because they only intensify! I almost let him kiss me earlier; I'm still holding back my feelings!

"Adela, sorry," Primo began.

"No need to apologize, just don't do it again," I retorted, and he nodded like a child.

"What else do you want to say?" I nervously asked.

"That clothing, I really don't like it. Change it please?" he pleaded, causing me to give him a puzzled look.

"I thought it was fine?" I asked irritably, and he sighed, his cold gaze fixed on me.

"Aren't you feeling awkward with people staring? I thought you grew up in the countryside?" he remarked, making me furrow my brow.

"Why should I? Is it wrong if they look at me?" I asked irritably, but my nervous heart hadn't calmed down.

"Are you used to it?" he asked in a colder tone.

His question made me swallow hard. What's it to him?

"Not really, but why do you care?" I asked with more irritation.

"I told you Adela, I like you," he said, making me furrow my brow.

"So? Do you have to be possessive just because you like me? Is that how it's supposed to be, Primo?" I angrily questioned him.

"No, but I don't want someone else to take you away from me, Adela!" he said, raising his voice slightly.

"You don't want me to be taken away? Ha! I'm not your possession! And furthermore, I can't believe you have feelings for me if you continue your womanizing ways!" I angrily exclaimed, causing his eyebrow to furrow, and he fell silent.

"Well? Nothing to say? Goodbye then. It's a waste of time for me to argue with you," I said, turning away from him.

I gasped and let out a relieved breath when he didn't follow.

I looked for Olivia to have some company, and I spotted her near the drinks area, so I went over there.

"Oh, are you okay now?" she asked, and I simply nodded, not wanting to discuss it further.

"Would you like some cocktail drinks? They're delicious."

I hesitated since I didn't want to, but in my anger, I grabbed one and drank it straight down. I felt the warmth hit my throat, and when I looked at Olivia, her eyes widened.

"I thought you haven't tried any other alcoholic drinks?" she said.

"Not yet," I replied, and she didn't probe further, just shook her head.

"Let's go swimming," she suggested after a few minutes of her drinking.

"Sure," I agreed, and I was surprised when she took off her summer dress, revealing a two-piece swimsuit.

"Take off your cover-up, Adela, free that hot body of yours!" Olivia laughed, so I slowly removed my cover-up and placed it on the table where she had put her dress. I swallowed nervously, not being used to people here.

I let my loose hair fall in front of me because I wasn't comfortable. I also had something to be proud of in front of me, although it wasn't that big, it was enough to say that I had a decent appearance.

Olivia and I went down to the pool; I was a bit cold at first, but I got used to it after a while.

"Wow, you look stunning, and your body is amazing. A lot of girls would like to have that," Olivia commented.

"Hehe, well, I do exercise often because of the sports I'm involved in, so my body is in decent shape," I replied, and she nodded, raising an eyebrow.

"By the way, Adela, are you really sure you never had a boyfriend in Baguio?" she asked, and I laughed while shaking my head.

"Seriously, none at all!" I chuckled, and she shook her head in disbelief.

"I can't believe it!" she said, even pouting.

I was surprised when a guy approached Olivia and me. He seemed to be her friend, judging by their exchange.

"Hi, Nyx!" Olivia greeted him, and he high-fived her before turning to me.

"I'll leave my friend Nyx with you for a while, okay? You two can talk, hehe," Olivia said, Nyx nodded, and Olivia swam away.

"Hello, Adela, right?" Nyx asked me as he focused his attention on me. I nodded in response.

"You're pretty," he complimented, and I smiled shyly.

"T-thank you," I stammered.

We were at one side of the pool, and he had a glass of pure alcohol with him.

"Do you drink coffee?" he asked, and I nodded.

"Oh, I brought one," he said, pushing the coffee closer to me.

"What flavor is it?" I asked.

"Espresso," he answered, and I immediately took a sip.

My favorite coffee.

"I just saw you now. How are you related to Olivia? Are you her cousin?" he asked, and I shook my head.

"I'm friends with Olivia. I'm not related to them," I replied, and he slowly nodded at me.

"Well, can I get your number?" he asked, scratching his head.

"Well, no," I said since we had just met.

"Okay," he said with a smile, but I could hear the disappointment in his voice.

Our conversation went on for a while, and I could tell he was getting drunk. He was getting a bit too close to me, and I wasn't comfortable with that, so I started moving away from him. I even tried handing him my coffee, but he ignored it.

I was startled when he put his arm around my waist and pressed his body against mine. I tried to push him away, but I couldn't.

His grip was too strong.

I screamed when his hands started moving lower, from my waist to my buttocks.

And everything happened so quickly, and now I was far away from Nyx.

I turned to look at the front, even though he had his back to me, I knew who it was – Primo.

He punched Nyx in the face! Oh my god!

"Get out of here! Go home, Nyx, you're freaking drunk!" Primo shouted, and I gulped, realizing that many people were now watching us.

Primo was in his swimming trunks, and I held his hand under the water to make him listen to me.

"Stop, a lot of people are watching," I whispered, and he took a deep breath and stopped.

Some of their friends helped Nyx and sent him home.

A few minutes passed, and everything seemed normal again.

"What did he do to you? Why did you scream?" he asked angrily, and I bit my lip, debating whether to tell him what Nyx did or not.

"He touched my..." I started but stopped and took a deep breath.

"Your what?" he asked with a furrowed brow, sounding very serious and tense.

He seemed so tense that even I started feeling fearful about what he might do.

"My waist and my buttocks," I said softly and quickly, then closed my eyes.

When I opened my eyes, I saw him biting his lip, as if holding back his anger.

"That freaking asshole, touching my territory like that. How dare him," he muttered, and I couldn't hear it clearly, but I didn't ask further.

"Are you okay?" he asked, and I just nodded.

"Did he do anything else?" he asked, and I nodded again as my response.

He let out a sigh and turned away from me, causing my mouth to fall open in surprise. Was he leaving?

It felt like I regretted his departure. Why was I feeling this way? Isn't this what I wanted? Him to be away from me? Why am I feeling like this? I should be glad that he's leaving, but why do I want him close to me?
