Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 16

Adela's Point of View

"Oh goodness, Adela! I'm so sorry!" Olivia said as she approached me, hugging me tightly.

"It's alright, we can't do anything now, it already happened," I replied, and she kept apologizing. After a few minutes, we changed the topic of our conversation.

We talked about various things, and Olivia mentioned that she's getting closer to managing their bar.

"Make sure to visit often, okay?" she asked, and I nodded.

"Yeah, don't worry."

"Margareth and Archer are so lucky, right?" I commented as my eyes found them.

"Yeah, but I'm not happy about their secret relationship," Olivia sighed.

"Imagine, we need to cover up for him every time he's close to being caught by anyone who could tell Tita Helena and Tito Jeremiah!" I glanced around and saw Primo alone at his table, which annoyed me. Why is he by himself?

"Let's head over there for a while, Kuya Ares has grilled some barbecues," she said, pointing to Ares who was carrying a tray. I nodded and, once again, Olivia and I put on our cover-ups. She had an extra one, so now we both wore cover-ups, which was a good thing since it was a bit chilly, especially at night.

We ate the freshly grilled barbecues, which were quite hot, making me feel warmer.

We were given drinks, and I downed it quickly. It was juice, but I could feel a hint of alcohol. I'm getting used to its taste. It was warm in my throat and I felt a bit dizzy; maybe I'm slowly getting tipsy.

So, I immediately drank a lot of water after consuming those drinks.

"Are you going back to the pool?" Olivia asked, and I shook my head.

"I'll stay here for now," I replied, referring to our table.

Gradually, the crowd started thinning out as it was getting late. Some people were checking into the hotel, while others were heading home. However, many were still left.

Some were wildly dancing due to drunkenness, while others were openly displaying affection. It was becoming quite abnormal to watch.

Olivia returned to the pool, while I remained seated at our table, observing my surroundings.

It was a bit dull, but I didn't feel like going home just yet. I just had this urge not to head back and sleep.

I asked for more drinks and downed them in succession. The taste was addicting, the mix of the drink was so good.

With all the drinks I've consumed, I could feel dizziness and a headache settling in. My eyes felt heavy and I tried to stay awake, but I started losing focus. I was getting drowsy, and I could sense the effects of alcohol slowly taking over.

Thankfully, my mind was still somewhat clear, but I could feel myself losing control.

My eyelids drooped, and I drifted off to sleep.

I woke up to the sounds around me. The music was still loud, so I was certain I was still at Ares' party.

"Adela," I heard Olivia's voice, and she tapped my arm.

I wanted to open my eyes, but I felt too tired to do so.

"Don't bother waking her up. Carry her and take her to her room," Olivia said, and I felt myself being lifted from my seat.

"Straight to her room, okay?" Olivia added, her voice audible as she was close.

I sensed the person carrying me taking steps. Perhaps they just nodded in response to Olivia's instructions.

Their scent was familiar, but I couldn't be sure whose it was. As they walked, all I could hear was the sound of the ocean waves. I was being carried bridal style. I wanted to sneak a peek and see who it was, but my efforts to open my eyes were in vain.

Despite having just woken up, I still felt sleepy and tired. It seemed like we had reached my room after a rather long journey.

I gasped as I was gently seated on a chair. I tried to open my eyes, but my vision was blurry. I managed to make out that I was in my room, sitting on a wooden chair with a table in front of me. I rested my head on the table. I didn't bother searching for the person who brought me here; they might have left me here and gone.

I was surprised when I heard the door close. The person who brought me here had left. I rested for a moment in the chair, then I slowly opened my eyes again. My vision had improved slightly, but my head still ached. I tried moving and was somewhat relieved that I managed to stand, despite feeling tipsy.

My vision was still a bit blurry, and the effects of alcohol lingered in my body, making me feel warm. I took off the cover-up from my swimsuit and let the room remain dark as I walked toward the mirror.

I moved slowly, and when I reached the mirror, I collapsed onto the seat in front of it.

The intoxication was weakening my body. No matter how I tried to move, I couldn't seem to coordinate properly. I had drunk too much; I wasn't sure what alcohol I had consumed, but it was certainly potent. Though, to be fair, it tasted good.

I attempted to stand, but my knees felt weak. Crawling was my only option. Inside my dimly lit room, I needed to change.

I was thankful to be alone in my room. I felt embarrassed at the thought of someone seeing me crawling around in just a two-piece swimsuit. That would look so wild, right?

As I slowly approached my closet, I was taken aback when I heard the door creak open.

Before I could even reposition myself, I immediately looked to see who it was. Oh, the position I was in was so embarrassing! I hoped whoever this person was would just forget what they saw.

When I caught sight of him, my jaw dropped, and my whole system went haywire.

It was Primo! He had a towel draped over his shoulder, and he was carrying a tray with a glass of water and what seemed to be headache medicine.

"What are you doing?" he said coldly, shutting the door.

I swallowed hard, unable to move from my position, my body feeling weak, compounded by my surprise.

Imagine the embarrassment of being caught in such a position. Damn it, what must he be thinking?

"I-I was just getting clothes," I mumbled, and I saw him walking towards me, placing the tray down in front of me. I sat up and kept my gaze on him.

He covered me with the towel he brought. I bit my lip and looked down.

"I swear, I really was just getting clothes," I said weakly, feeling nervous.

He seemed to ignore my words and handed me the water and medicine. I took both quickly and downed them.

"Feeling better?" he asked, and I nodded.

I was relieved that I still had control over my thoughts. I probably hadn't consumed enough alcohol yet to do something foolish.

However, I still felt an abnormal warmth in my body. Not a fever, but alcohol-induced.

Even though I had control over my mind, I wasn't sure if I had control over my body.

He stood up and walked to my closet.

He pulled out a large t-shirt. I gasped as he gestured for me to put it on.

It's as if my body didn't want to move on its own. It felt like it was waiting for his direction.

I felt so out of it, damn it. I knew I shouldn't have had so much to drink!

He lifted me in a bridal style, and I instinctively hooked my arms around his neck. He carried me to my bed, and I could feel my heart racing again. Once he set me down on the bed, I looked at him.

It felt like my eyes were glued to him. I didn't want to tear my gaze away from Primo. It was as if he were a magnet, and my eyes were locked onto him, following him wherever he moved.

As he gently laid me down on the bed, my heart rate intensified. I felt like my gaze was glued to him, and I didn't want him to leave. My body seemed to be rejecting his departure. Just what did my heart want?

Why did it feel like my mind was resisting his departure? My heart seemed to want to go along with whatever was happening. It felt like every part of my body was urging him not to leave. So, when he turned away from me, my hand moved quickly to grab the end of his shirt.

I felt like I couldn't control myself; it was as if something was moving my body for me.

He glanced at me, his eyebrows furrowing, and I found myself sitting up, reaching out to hold his hand.

"D-don't go," I stammered, my voice barely audible.

I hadn't expected to say that. Damn, the alcohol was really affecting me. Please, let this be a dream.

He frowned, looking puzzled, and took a seat beside me. We faced each other on the bed.

"What do you want?" he asked coldly, and my heart raced even faster.

"You're mad?" I asked him, my heart racing as if it were in a race again.

I lowered my head, and I was startled when he held my chin, lifting my gaze to meet his.

"Yeah, I'm furious about what happened, baby," he whispered, and I gasped, feeling my breath hitch.

"I didn't want him to do that, but Nyx is strong. I couldn't stop him," I admitted, my words coming out in a rush, my nervousness getting the better of me.

My body and mouth seemed to be acting on their own, knowing exactly what to say and do without me consciously thinking about it.

"I am freaking mad at what he did. How dare he touch you like that?" he muttered angrily, and I felt his anger reverberate through his words.

"I'm sorry," I whispered, and he held my hand, his touch offering a sense of comfort.

"You don't need to apologize. It's over now," he reassured me, and I lowered my head even further.

He lifted my face once again, his fingers gently holding my chin.

"Sleep now, okay? We'll talk tomorrow," he said softly, and I nodded like a child.

I lay down, studying him closely. He leaned in, his lips pressing against my forehead in a tender kiss. As he pulled away slightly, my gaze shifted to his lips, and I involuntarily swallowed.

But before he could move away, something surprising happened.

My body acted on its own once more.

Before he could distance himself from me, I hooked my arm around his neck and kissed him on the lips.

I was shocked by my own actions, and it seemed like he was even more surprised.

"You're still freakin' drunk, but I like it when you're drunk," he said with a smirk, his eyes locked onto mine. He bit his lip and let out a heavy breath.

"Sorry, my body moved on its own," I stammered, my eyes widening in surprise.

Why on earth did I just kiss him?

"No need to apologize for it, honey," he whispered into my ear, and I swallowed hard.

"Next time you drink, ask me to come with you," he suggested, and my heart raced even faster when his lips brushed against mine once more.

My body wasn't protesting, and I knew why. I was starting to like him. Damn it, my principles were falling apart!
