Griffin approached the gates with apprehension.
"You lost, boy?"
Griffin scratched the back of his head.
"Uh, i'm looking for the headmaster."
The guard looked him over with an expression of doubt on his face.
"What business could you have with the headmaster?"
Griffin could only raise his brow in confusion, slightly amused at the guards doubt.
"Just here to deliver this letter"
He pulls out the envelope from his breast pocket.
"Let me see that."
The guard snatches the envelope from Griffins hand, his eyes scrutinizing the writing.
"Hm"
He gives him a cold look, examining him one more time.
"Alright, I'll bring it to him."
With a sigh and a dismissive gesture, the guard began to walk away, leaving Griffin standing alone.
"Oh, wait"
The guard turned towards Griffin, his face twisted in anger.
"I planned on speaking with the headmaster myself."
Scoffing, the guard gave Griffin a disapproving once-over.
"You're lucky that I'm even wasting the headmasters time with your stupid letter!"
The guard stepped closer to Griffin, now in his face, this allowed him the opportunity to look over the guards shoulder, where he noticed a stout man with a powerful build.
"What's the problem here?"
The guard turned his head towards the voice,
"This boy came here with a letter addressed to you, I said I would deliver it, but he insisted he meet you!"
Griffin stared in awe at the man before him, this man epitomized strength, his presence alone creating an intense pressure which weighed down upon him.
"This is the headmaster? His aura is so powerful!"
Griffin took a step back, feeling both fear and awe being in the presence of the headmaster. The mans aura seemed to envelop the air around him, making it harder to breathe.
The headmasters gaze fell upon Griffin, examining him for but a moment before speaking.
"You wished to speak to me personally?" his voice revealed his interest, while maintaining a stern tone.
Griffin swallowed, intimidated by the headmaster's stern gaze and powerful aura.
"Yes sir, I figured it would be best if I delivered the envelope myself as it was entrusted to me by my late father."
Upon hearing this, the headmasters expression softened. He stretched his arm out towards the guard, gesturing for him to hand over the envelope.
"Very well, bring it to me."
The guard stepped forwards, extending the envelope. The headmaster accepted it graciously, carefully looking it over. He broke the seal and unfolded the letter, meticulously analyzing its contents.
Griffin couldn't do anything but stare as the headmaster read, the weight of anticipation filling the air. There was a palpable silence, which was broken by the sound of shuffling paper.
After what felt like an eternity, the headmaster returned the letter to its envelope and looked at Griffin, his gaze seemed somewhat interested and empathetic.
"Due to your fathers identity, I hereby grant you acceptance into Dustfall Academy!"
Griffin blinked twice, his mouth slightly parted as he stepped back in astonishment.
"Wait.. what?!"
'I thought I was only here to deliver my fathers letter, I wouldn't have thought this letter to be him vying for my acceptance!"
"Thank you sir, I will not make you regret this decision!
