Dustwing City

"Roet Residence, Dustwing City"

The ink on the envelope looked to have been smudged by the raindrops, but Griffin was still capable of discerning the address in the top right corner. He pondered the importance of the figure it was addressed to and the contents that it held.

What could his father, an invalid doctor possibly have to say to Xander Blanche, the headmaster of Dustfall Academy?

Griffin looked up from the envelope, taking in his thoroughly cleaned room, his gaze drifting to his wooden desk, a place he would often find himself immersed in literature, consuming knowledge and imagining a better life. It was here that his incredible ambition and unyielding determination to overcome his destiny was born. As Griffin's thoughts billowed around in his mind, his attention shifted to the small mirror hanging on the wall above his desk.

The mirror reflected a young man with a rather plump face, displaying his youth, fiery red hair, brown freckles adorning his fair skin, and a sharp pair of emerald green eyes. In contrast to his father, Griffin stood at an imposing height of six foot one, while having a rather thin and weak build.

As Griffin continued to study his reflection, memories of his late father began to flood his mind. he recalled the long nights spent by his fathers side, assisting him in the aid of his patients, remembering the diligence and care that his father put into caring for them. A form of resentment sparked within his eyes, thinking of how his father had done so much good, and devoted so much of himself to helping others, yet he never got the appreciation that he deserved, dying at a young age with nobody but his son at his deathbed. This thought sparked a resolve within him, he would get justice for his father, no matter the expense.

The people within Griffin's town and surrounding area were majority normal humans, destined to continue living their mundane and ordinary lives. Griffin, although not in possession of great talent or power, had an incredible ambition and desire for greatness. Dustfall Academy stood as a pillar of opportunity to all of those within Dustwing City, it presented those individuals with the grandeur of strengthening the body and soul through the utilization of soul essence.

Unfortunately for most, Dustfall academy would only accept the most talented and promising of individuals. Those who were granted acceptance are essentially guaranteed a future of greatness with limitless potential.

As Griffin ventured his way towards the academy, anticipation filled his heart for the possible implications of the mysterious envelope.

Griffin gazed up at the grandiose walls of the grand academy, standing tall in stark contrast with the surrounding area.
