Chapter 52 - Automated defense system

Waldo opened the blueprint and prepared to construct.

[Survivor, do you want to build an automated defense system?]

[Yes/No]

Without hesitation, Waldo clicked the "Yes" button.

Soon, the system displayed the materials required to build the automated defense system.

[Automated Defense System]

Blueprint for Automated Defense System: (1/1)

Steel: (3854/1000)

Cement: (4853/1000)

Water: (Infinite/1000)

Crossbow Bolts: (50/20)

9mm Bullets: (Infinite/100)

With sufficient materials, Waldo began constructing the automated defense system.

The blueprint shattered, and a plethora of protective devices emerged on the base of the perimeter wall.

The top of the wall was covered with barbed wire and sharp blades.

The lower section of the wall was layered with broken iron sheets, discouraging survivors from attempting to climb.

With such protection, even a slight force applied to the flesh would likely tear off a piece of it.

Furthermore, miniature gun barrels appeared around the surveillance cameras.

They could fire directly upon detecting enemies.

In the yard, a row of stone statues facing the main gate appeared out of thin air.

Concealed within their mouths were crossbows, capable of continuously shooting and suppressing intruders.

Most importantly, Waldo discovered that this automated defense system could be upgraded as equipment improved.

If there were automatic machine guns or similar weapons in the future, they could be swapped and upgraded.

Waldo pondered the idea of having machine guns placed beside every surveillance camera, relentlessly firing at invaders from all directions.

The scene was simply marvelous.

Completing the automated defense system meant that his shelter would be an extremely secure place in the future.

At least for a short period, there would be no need to worry about zombie or survivor intrusions.

If invaders managed to break through the automated defense system's multiple layers, they would face Waldo's unlimited firepower, along with Alanna's additional handgun, doubling the joy.

Mia gazed in astonishment at the constructed automated defense system, her expression changing.

"This, this is what you brought back from the golden-level supplies?"

Waldo nodded.

"Yeah, what's the matter? Is there a problem?"

Mia spoke earnestly, "This doesn't seem like something that could be obtained from a golden-level supply box. It's more like the rarity of a platinum-level supply box."

Waldo shrugged, showing indifference.

"Who cares? I've already used it. Regardless of its level, I can't be bothered. If it's really as impressive as you say, then I just lucked out."

Waldo held Alanna's hand and walked into the villa.

Mia followed behind them, unable to calm down, muttering incessantly.

"What a loss..."

Alanna couldn't understand and felt a bit puzzled.

"What loss?"

Waldo rolled his eyes and explained in a slightly annoyed tone, "She's just being money-minded. When she says 'loss,' it means she saw how rare my automated defense system is and thought it would be a waste to sell it to me at the usual price for golden-level supplies. That's her idea of a loss."

Right, Miss?

After Waldo exposed Mia's thoughts, she became even more displeased.

He sent Mia back to her room, and Waldo and Alanna began to enjoy their dinner.

After eating and drinking to their heart's content, they lounged on the sofa for a while.

Then Waldo went to deliver the food.

He didn't knock; he simply opened the door directly.

However, Waldo was dumbfounded.

Before his eyes, everything was white.

Ah!

Mia panicked and shouted loudly, but it was too late.

Waldo entered the room and immediately saw Mia, who had just walked out of the bathroom.

Although he quickly averted his eyes, he had already seen what he shouldn't have seen.

Mia's mind went blank, and she threw the towel she was holding.

Then she covered herself with her hands and squatted down.

Get out!

So white!

Waldo snapped back to reality, grabbed the towel, and made a move to leave.

But just as he took a step, Mia suddenly called out to him.

Wait, wait a moment!

Waldo promptly stopped, turned around, and stared straight at her.

His gaze filled with unashamed appreciation.

What's the matter?

Mia's teeth were almost biting into her lip, drawing blood.

Leave the towel.

Waldo glanced at the towel in his hand, shrugged, and threw it heavily.

Then, acting as if nothing had happened, he walked out.

As long as I'm not embarrassed, others will be embarrassed.
