It was a beautiful day, clear blue skies, as a family of three red haired renards made their way down a dirt road alongside a forest. Their destination the was the center of the world, the dungeon city of Orario. The family was originally from the far east, but after a streak of bad luck decided to set out to the land of new beginnings.
"Mama, Papa, how much longer until Orario?" a small fox girl with red hair and gold eyes asked her parents. "About another day and a half Hanabi, you know asking over and over won't get us there any sooner." the father answered, making Hanabi pout. "mmmmm" Hanabi groaned with impatience. "Don't be like that sweetie, we'll get there when we get there." the mother chastised her child.
Just as the father started laughing at his daughters behavior a loud roar sounded from just beyond the tree line "RRROOOOOOOAAAAAAA". At hearing the sound all three foxes paled and Hanabi started trembling "HANABI GET BEHIND ME NOW!" The father yelled.
"RRROOOOOOOAAAAAAA" Finn's thumb started aching when he heard that roar. "Gareth, Riveria lets pick up the pace, I've got a bad feeling about this." The guild issued us a mission to investigate sightings of an infant dragon to the east of the city, we assumed it was just some scared villagers overreacting but that roar is familiar. But how did an infant dragon get out of the dungeon? They're not found in the wild, at least not around here.
As we approached the place we heard the roar come from we saw the infant dragon standing over a burning wagon. I didn't hesitate to charge the beast, an infant dragon isn't much of a challenge to a level five like me. getting the monster off the wagon is priority one, there might be survivors. As I reached the infant dragon I thrust my spear through its head before it could react. "Check the wagon there might be survivors!" as Riveria and Gareth caught up we quickly searched the wagon. "Oh no!" Riveria said, behind the wagon there was a young fox girl, a Renard, but she was on fire and standing in front of two corpses. Riveria rushed to the girl and wrapped her robe around her to put out the fire but the robe burned up immediately, that was when I saw it. "Riveria get back." I said, "What are you saying we ha-" "Look closer" I interrupted her. The girl tuned to us and Riveria finally saw it, the girl wasn't on fire. She was fire. Her eyes, ears, hair, tail, hands, and feet, were bright red flame. "Well this is a first" Gareth said. Just then, as if realizing we weren't the enemy, her features returned to normal. Red hair and Gold eyes, then she collapsed. Riveria rushed to catch her and began chanting her healing magic. "Gareth help me bury the bodies, Riveria once you finish healing her we're taking her back with us. I've got a feeling we just found our newest Familia member." I said
As I opened my eyes the first thing I noticed was an unfamiliar ceiling. Ah that's right, mom and dad are... I should be crying, but I don't have the right. If I was stronger they wouldn't have died, they protected me. It's all my fault. "Finally awake?" I looked over to see a woman, no a goddess, with pale red hair and squinted eyes. Standing behind her were a dwarf a tall elf woman and a blonde boy, maybe a prum? "My kids here found you out on the road, do you... remember?" the goddess asked me. I just nodded, "I see, my names Loki. This is Riveria, Gareth, and Finn, what's your name?". "Hanabi." I said, Loki seems kind. "That's a pretty name, Hanabi do you have family in Orario?" This time it was the tall green haired elf asking me, I just shook my head. Seeing this the Finn and Loki looked at each other. "Well Hanabi-chan, is there anything you want to do now? You're welcome to stay here as long as you need." Loki asked me. I just sat there and thought for a while, making my decision I looked the goddess in her now open eyes and said "I want to get stronger, please let me join your Familia.". I need to get stronger, I don't want anyone else to die because of me. I need to be strong enough to protect not just myself, but others too. Hearing this Loki gave me a wide, and sort of scary, smile "Of course Hanabi-chan! We'd love to have ya!".
After the other three left the room Loki looked to me and said "Alright lets get that shirt off!". As soon I heard that I wrapped my arms around myself and backed away. I take it back this goddess isn't kind, she's a pervert! "Wait Hanabi-chan! it's not like that! to give ya my blessing I need to see your back!" Loki seemed to panic at my behavior which was honestly a little funny. "Back?" I asked. "That's right, I need to put a drop of blood on your back then you'll be part of my Familia!" Hearing this I nodded, took my shirt off and turned around. A moment later there was a warm tingling sensation on my back. "Holy shit." Hearing this I looked over my shoulder wondering if something was wrong. "Ah here's your status Hanabi-chan, welcome to my Familia." as she said this she handed me a paper.
