Chereads / Advent Of The Celestial Sage / Chapter 16 - Divergence

Chapter 16 - Divergence

The two disciples were in a daze for a short moment, even when they had faced their elders within the sect they had never seen such a display of majesty.

"Senior My name is Kun Faya and my junior sister here is known as Roshni." the male disciple spoke up in a hurry not wanting to keep Zhishi Wu waiting for a response too long.

Zhishi Wu was breathing heavily under the mask, he had never been so Qi exhausted before.

Kun Faya quickly unstrapped the women hanging on his back and laid her down on the ground in front of Zhishi Wu.

"We hope that the great sage can assist us in treating our senior sister, we are willing to pay any price your greatness demands." both disciples had their heads bowed once again.

Zhishi Wu had taken time to observe their faces, both of the individuals had pained expressions reflecting the hopes they carried for their senior sister.

He had seen the side of the world where a son would murder his own father for a throne, where someone would push a 13-year-old child into the jaws of death without remorse. This display of selflessness and dedication managed to move him.

"I require beast corpses within the stage of Qi condensation. Return here, In the meantime I shall cure your senior." Zhishi Wu decided to kill two birds with one stone and get the beast corpses he required as well as treating this girl.

Inwardly he had a voice nagging at him "Why are you wasting your time helping random people by the side of the road, you have knowledge to pursue."

Although he had come to this strange world he still felt it very difficult to grab the morals he had and toss them out of the window in a strange way the morals reminded him of who he was and he feared losing that.

The two disciples were ecstatic and immediately departed to find beasts, they misunderstood his price of treatment as a sort of mercy, in their minds he was a powerful figure, what would he possibly do with Qi condensation beasts? It was akin to paying a piece of bronze for a body invigoration pill.

Zhishi Wu examined the girl and noticed that physically she was completely fine, there were no obvious signs or symptoms other than the fact that she was incredibly pale.

He quickly switched his examination from physical to the Qi within her, to his surprise even the Qi inside her was perfectly fine.

"Am I going to be exposed as a fraud?" Zhishi Wu had nonchalantly taken on this task as if he could do it in a heartbeat.

He attempted to focus his Qi onto his eyes to enhance his perception to an even further degree.

"Foolish." the ancient voice deep in the forest spoke inaudibly.

Zhishi Wu scanned over her body again trying not to miss a single centimeter of skin, he realized he had made the correct decision when he saw an incredibly small puncture wound within her upper arm.

"YES IT'S POISON!" He screamed internally as if he had won the lottery before falling back into reality quickly.

"Oh no it's poison." he remembered that if it was truly poison then he would have no way of purifying said thing, the purification of pathogens and the purification of poison, especially poison from a beast in the same cultivation realm as him was immense.

As he sat there thinking of a solution the snake that laid on his arm silently awoke and moved towards the girl before quickly sinking its teeth into her.

"WAITTTT!" Zhishi Wu when he came back to reality saw the tragic scene and quickly swiped the snake back into his palm which then crawled back up to his shoulder.

Zhishi Wu prepared to flee the scene but right before he left he saw that the girl's pale color had actually started to return to normal and his jaw fell open.

He slowly lifted the snake off his shoulder and looked it straight in its eyes.

"You eat poison?" the snake nodded slightly before slithering back up his arm.

Zhishi Wu exhaled and continued to observe the girl's condition while cultivating and waiting for her fellow disciples

After an hour passed the air shook slightly as the two disciples reappeared on the scene. They held a bag up to Zhishi Wu, the bag was around the size of a hand.

"Senior we have hunted four beasts and stored them within the bag."

Zhishi Wu was aware of the bag, it was a treasure similar to the ring that Goldilocks had given him but was far smaller in storage size around the size of a small yard.

"Your senior has been cured, she will awaken soon."

The two disciples bowed once more and a few silent tears actually appeared.

Zhishi Wu was now incredibly confused, some children may not shed a tear for their parent's funeral and yet these disciples had actually shed tears of happiness for their senior.

On his face behind a mask an unintended smile appeared, the type of smile that would appear when you received a heartwarming letter or saw a family reunion.

"How naive." Zhishi Wu uttered silently as his childlike demeanor seemed to fade for a moment before he vanished from the spot and ran back to the ancient voice that had assigned him with this task.

"Great sage, please grace us with your presence tomorrow so I may thank you in person." it was a voice he had not heard before, it seemed that the senior sister had awoken earlier than he had excepted.

He was unsure if he would appear so he continued going back to the ancient voice.

"Oh great ancient voice I have returned with the beasts you requested." he opened the bag and dumped out the bodies of the beasts, two of them were early and two were middle stage of Qi condensation.

"You will face consequences." the voice uttered.

Zhishi Wu scanned his surroundings and came up empty, even the voice itself seemed to appear from nowhere as if it had no point of origin.

"What, consequences for what?" he said in a confused tone, he had done what was asked of him.

"You have overstepped."

Zhishi Wu was concerned now, could he have trespassed somewhere he shouldn't have.

Just as he was about to ask another question he felt a burning sensation in his eyes, he clutched his face fell to his knees.

"You did something impermissible." The voice boomed in his head.

Zhishi Wu held his tongue, at the moment he was trying his best not to scream.

"Do not resist, the toll shall be paid." The voice explained.

The burning sensation wasn't disappearing and as Zhishi Wu tried to use Qi to help, it only made it worse.

"Do not resist." The voice repeated.

Zhishi Wu gave in and let go of his eyes and kept his eyelids closed for a moment before attempting to open them.

"I'm blind." Zhishi Wu spoke with a slight tremble in his voice.

"you forcibly raised your perception to a level that ssshould not be possible."

Zhishi Wu was not listening he sat there in a hopeless fashion opening and closing his eyes.

"Is that all your resolve is worth, self proclaimed sssage."

He was enraged, how could the ruleset shift like this, he felt wronged he had used this power to help someone, why should he have to face this punishment.

A reeling pressure descended for a moment to catch Zhishi Wu's attention.

"Are you not the naive one sage." the voice said with a mocking tone.

"I, I should not behave like this." he felt like his head was splitting open.

He hadn't felt it in the beginning but his shift into this body had slowly been regressing his mental age, he retained all of his knowledge but his personality was slowly being altered.

He was well aware that the world was an unfair place, this was familiar to him and yet the concept still seemed foreign to him, it was as if a child who was taught that only the truth exists encountered a lie.

"You do not need your eyes to sssee, you possess something greater."

Zhishi Wu was confused for a moment but then he understood, he slowly let go of the questions eating at him and relaxed, he started to resonate with the Qi around him and developed a field of vision that was visible only as Qi within a 20-meter range of himself.

"Do not attempt to look at me, lest you want your brain to shatter."

Zhishi Wu restrained his curiosity and did not attempt to locate the origin of the voice.

"Many thanks for the guidance senior." Zhishi Wu stood and bowed at the voice.

The atmosphere around Zhishi Wu went cold and he felt a being appear in front of him, he made sure to restrict his probing within that area.

A cold breath of air blew across him as he heard the most important question of his life.

"Which ones of you ssspeaks?" The voice inquired.
