Chapter 6 - Speechless!

This could be the first time Kevin felt a loss for words.

What was the right word for it? Dumbfounded?

Ugh...

His head hurts.

He extended his arm to his temple and tried to rub his temples. But human hands are totally different to cat paws. So aside from feeling ticklish and feathery feeling of fur rubbing against fur, he could not reach his temples at all...

Right. He's now a cat. He doesn't have one.

Kevin put down his worries and tried not to mind his current body. So what if he is a cat? He is determined to survive! Cats have a lot of attributes too! Not to mention being in this form can quickly gain the trust of that protagonist of his.

Kevin took a deep breath and studied the room he was in. Aside from the long curtains dripped in the window, there are no decorations in the room. The area was spacious. Even the bed is big enough to fit three adults. But just as how ample the space is, that's also contrary to how small the furnitures are.

Beside the huge window on the left, Kevin saw a red velvet single sofa with the back turned on him. Someone is sitting in there. He could not see the face, but judging from the nape, it was clear it was a man.

Kevin blinked twice, trying to get used to a cat's vision. To the enormous disparity of sizes in the furniture. He shook his two front and hind paws and wiggled his ears.

He came down from the furniture and slowly approached the person behind the sofa. When he came up in the front, a pair of sharp dark, cold eyes met his.

[Player Lawrence Thomson]

[Character possessed: Lawrence Wilson, son of Frederick Wilson]

At the moment, Kevin doesn't know what color his fur or eyes has. So he sat in front of Lawrence in a dignified manner. His tail is tucked in his side with his chin slightly pointed upwards.

Lawrence silently sat in the window, watching the people in the courtyard laugh and chat. The system told him there would be a small get together hosted by the Wilson family in the courtyard. The first case of a woman being killed happened last week. And there will be another woman corpse appearing next after this party.

Lawrence took note of the system's instructions that he could not get out of his room tonight. He can only set off to conduct his investigation in the morning at 7:00am.

Lawrence observed the movement of the guests, but none of them was suspicious. He wanted to continue observing them. His focus was purely on the party until he detected movement in his side.

He glanced at his side, only to see a white and black cat staring unblinkingly at him. His fingers twitch. Before he came here, Lawrence was able to receive the memories of this 'Lawrence Wilson'. He is a sickly fifteen year old boy that carries his nine months old siberian cat anywhere.

Because of his weak health, he was home-schooled, but because he loved to play outside, his parents reluctantly sent him to the nearby private school. Due to his shy and timid personality, he was having a hard time getting along with others. Good thing that this private high school allowed pets accompany students in the school, although they are forbidden to bring their pets inside their classrooms.

Lawrence can remember how the Wilson kid affectionately petted this cat, kissed it, tucked it to bed even ate with it during meals.

The cat, with its beautiful jade eye color, blink slowly at him. Then it tilted its head, as if confused why its master did not come forward to pet him.

Lawrence is actually at a loss of what to do.

He wasn't good with animals. His cousin had a pet dog and he scared the poor thing away when he came back from the army. One time, there was a poor cat on the street, he feed it with food but not only did it not eat, the cat run away without looking back.

Must be because of the amount of blood shed in his hands that even animals won't stay near him.

Lawrence was afraid this cat will be the same. But to be in character, he must do what the Wilson kid do. Get along with this cat.

Lawrence tentatively stretch his hand. The cat stared at him, its indifferent and imposing expression did not waver.

It's eyes seemed to say "This master is too noble to let its magnificent fur be dirtied by your hands."

Lawrence subconsciously glanced at his small pale fingers. It was clean.

In the courtyard, a soft music of violin poured out. Lawrence's expression immediately became cold and he did not hesitate to take the cat into his arms.

He let it lay gently on his lap and pat its head. Lawrence used to have thick and calloused palm due to training but now... his fingers were slender, thin and pale.

A doubt appeared in his mind. Can he still fight against vampires with this weak body?

"Meoww~" A soft sound came suddenly from Lawrence's lap, making him glance at the cat.

The cat's tail seemed to raise and tangle on his wrist. Then the cat's paw pad pressed on the glass window. It opened its small mouth and another delicate "Meooww~" poured out of its mouth.

Lawrence stared dumbly at the cat before his eyes returned to the small garden party happening in the courtyard.

Unbeknownst to Lawrence, Kevin is screaming thousand curses in his mind.

'You fucking dumb protagonist!'

'Dont look at me, look at the party!'

'What? I know I made your character into those masculine types that are headstrong and smart but is awkward to animals but who the fuck cares?!'

'There, there, there! Glue your eyes at that woman playing the violin! She will be the next victim!'
