Chapter 96 - First Night Of The Sleepover

Coming out of the bathroom, Cat, Nikki, Louisa, Ayo and Sasha had finished having their baths and were now dressed in their individual nightwears.

"So now we watch a horror movie?" Sasha asked.

"Yes." Ayo answered. "But we have to use it now, I can't guarantee I won't scream and make some noise."

"Yeah me too." Louisa said. "We definitely have to use it now. And I'm sure Aunt Maggie has gone to bed already."

Going to her bag, Sasha opened it and brought out a round baseball-sized object. It was black in colour with a few stripes of dark blue. There was a single purple button on the object and it had a base which it could be placed on a surface with to prevent it from rolling when in use.

"Is that the soundproof device?" Louisa asked.

"Yes." Sasha answered.

"What does it do exactly?" Cat asked.

"It works in two ways. When I turn it on, it will make the sound in this room stay in this room. No one outside the room will be able to hear anything we're saying or anything that's happening in this room but we will be able to hear what's going on outside the room." Sasha explained.

"Well that's exactly what we need right now." Nikki said.

"Wait a minute." Louisa said. "You said it works in two ways, what's the other way?"

"It can also block the sounds from outside the room." Sasha said. "We won't be able to hear anything coming from outside the room but they'll be able to hear us. That's for someone who wants peace and quiet. It's pretty simple to use."

"So enough with the talking." Nikki said. "Put it down on the table over there and turn it on so we can continue to have fun."

Walking to the table at the center of the large room, Sasha pushed the purple button on the device and placed it down on the table before she walked back to the front of the television to lie down with her blanket, in the same position as when she was watching the romantic movie.

When Sasha pushed the purple button on the device, a very thin silk-like substance was released from the dark blue stripes on the device and enclosed Cat's room from the walls at a speed which was slow enough for everyone to see it.

Putting one of her hands on the wall before the silk-like substance could reach that part, Cat saw the silk-like substance pass through her hand like it wasn't even there and she only felt a slight sensation when it passed through her hand which was still on the wall of her room.

Nikki, Cat, Ayo and Louisa could see the silk-like substance on the walls and on the ceiling of the room. It had the same colour with the dark blue stripes it had been released from and it didn't affect the room in any way except for it being visible.

Sasha wasn't paying attention to the room and was on the floor in front of the television with her blanket, waiting for the others to get ready so that they could start watching the movie. The soundproof device which was called a Spherom, belonged to Sasha so what it was doing was not new to her. The others had only seen it in different places but had not actually seen it work in reality.

"What if Aunt Maggie comes in and sees this stuff around the room?" Cat asked as she took her hand away from the wall.

"Yeah, is there a way to make it invisible? Or to make it change colour or something?" Nikki asked.

"I can make it become kind of transparent." Sasha said as she got up from the floor with her blanket still covering her. She walked over to the table and pressed the purple button on the spherom for a few seconds.

Pressing the button for a few seconds made the silk-like substance which came from the dark blue stripes on the spherom lose its colour. It became colourless and people who didn't know it was on the walls and ceiling would be completely unaware of anything being there.

The girls could barely see it was on the walls except for the little distortion they saw when looking at the walls. The distortion was caused by the silk-like substance which was on the walls and it would only be noticed if a person was to look closely.

Putting her hand on the wall again, Cat felt the slight sensation again. "This is very nice. What movie are we watching?" she asked, now moving to the front of the television along with Sasha and the rest of the girls.

"Uh, The Dead Will Rise." Nikki answered as she put it into the player and moved to lie down with the others.

Seeing Cat raise her hands to clap, Ayo said to her "Do we really need to turn the lights off? Why can't it stay on while we watch the movie?"

"Because that's no way to watch a movie." Louisa answered, going to the refrigerator to get some more snacks for everyone.

"Yeah you can't watch a movie with the lights on. Where's the fun in that?" Nikki said.

"Don't worry Ayo, if you get too scared while watching the movie, I'll slap bravery into you myself." Sasha said.

"Thanks Sasha, you're the best." Ayo said.

"You're welcome." Sasha replied, ignoring the sarcasm in what Ayo said.

"Alright people, enough talking. Let's watch the movie." Cat said and clapped twice to turn off the lights after Louisa got back and laid on the floor.

After screaming, jerking, and shrieking while watching the movie for over an hour or so, the girls heard something hit the window pane and screamed again.

"You all are a bunch of wusses." Sasha said. She hadn't screamed or jerked while they watched the movie and she only turned her head to look at the window when they heard something hit the pane.

Getting up from the floor, Cat turned on the lights by clapping twice and walked to the television then touched the middle of the screen to pause the movie.

"What are you guys waiting for?" Cat asked the girls. "Go check what's there."

"Louisa go check." Nikki said, still hearing something hit the window pane.

"What, why should I be the one to check?" Louisa asked. "You go."

"Sasha you go." Ayo said. "You're not scared right?"

"Fine." Sasha said after looking at the faces of Cat, Nikki, Ayo and Louisa then got up from the floor and headed to the window.
