Coming out of the arena and taking the helmet off, Smith had a glum expression on his face.
"Don't feel bad Smith, you tried your best." Kevin said.
"Yeah, and if Rick hadn't used that piece of glass you definitely would have won the fight." Jake said.
"Thanks guys, but it doesn't matter. Rick won." Smith replied.
"The next fight is between... Max and Kevin." Anna said.
"Sorry bro, but this is the end of the line for you." Kevin said to Max then patted him on the shoulder and stepped forward to collect his helmet.
"We'll see about that." Max replied then went forward to collect his helmet.
After the usual blankness of his sight for a split second, Kevin saw himself standing in the middle of a large circle of fire. Feeling the heat emanating from the dense flames of the fire, Kevin moved back a little. Realizing he was inside a ring of fiire, Kevin stopped moving and turned to face Max.
"Looks like we drew the short straw." Kevin said to Max.
"I guess we did." Max replied. "Let's do something, you and me."
"Do what?" Kevin asked.
"Let's fight without magic, that way we'll see who's more skilled between the two of us." Max answered.
"Smart move Max." Jake said after he heard what Max had said. "He knows Kevin has possession magic so he's trying to get them to fight without magic."
"But will Kevin agree?" Smith asked.
"Well he's definitely thinking of agreeing to it, if not he would have said 'no' immediately Max proposed fighting without magic." Jake said.
"Why should I agree to that?" Kevin asked Max. "I can win this fight in a minute with my magic."
"I know, but can you win it in a minute without your magic?" Max asked. "Don't you want to see who is stronger in terms of skill and strength? Or do you only want to be known as 'the guy with powerful magic'?"
After thinking about it for a while, Kevin spoke up "That's a very nice trick you're using, saying all this stuff so I won't use my magic. Guess what?"
"What?" Max asked.
"You have a deal. Let's see if you can beat me without using magic." Kevin said.
'It's a good thing he agreed to fight without magic.' Max thought. 'I was having second thoughts about the whole thing, but now I have a chance of winning this fight.'
"I didn't think he would actually agree to that." Jake said.
"Maybe he's trying to prove something." Kyle said.
Moving cautiously towards each other, Kevin and Max were being careful and were watching out for who will make the first move.
Now in each other's range of attack, Max and Kevin both threw out a fist which hit the other person directly on the side of the face but Kevin immediately responded by sending his other fist to hit Max in the stomach.
Taking advantage of the brief moment Max was stunned by his punch, Kevin kneed Max in the stomach and used his hand to hit him in the chest.
Moving back by a couple of steps to get a hold of himself, Max took deep breaths then charged forward.
Seeing Max charge forward, Kevin began moving back slowly and allowed Max to keep running towards him.
Sending a kick to Kevin's side, Max waited for Kevin to block it before he threw a punch which hit Kevin on the head.
Watching the fight on the television, Jake made a comment "It's as if they're equal in strength. Who do you think will win this fight Miss Anna?"
"Let's keep watching, but if I had to put my credits on someone, I would put it on Kevin." Anna replied.
"Why Kevin?" Jake asked.
"You could call it intuition." Anna said. 'Kevin knows what he's doing, he's slowly moving towards the rim of the ring of fire. And apparently Max hasn't noticed it, he's doing what Kevin wants him to do.'
Dodging a punch from Max, Kevin grabbed Max from his head and brought it down to his knees before slamming his right knee into Max's forehead.
Staggering back a bit, Max sent a kick aiming to hit Kevin in the chest but Kevin avoided it and held onto the leg. Before Kevin could do whatever he had in mind, Max immediately went closer to him and landed a firm hit on his nose.
"Come on man, my nose." Kevin said as he went back by a lot of steps.
Running towards Kevin, Max was planning to fall on the floor and attack Kevin, similar to what he had seen Smith do, but before he could get to Kevin, he noticed Kevin move closer to the fire. 'Why would he be moving closer to the fire instead of moving away from it?'
Seeing Max's speed reduce as he ran towards him, Kevin thought to himself 'Looks like I wasn't as stealthy as I should have been. He must have already noticed the way I'm moving towards the fire, I have to end this fight quickly. I'm already close enough to the fire to do what I need to do.' "Is that really the fastest you can run?" Kevin asked Max.
Increasing his speed, Max ran to meet Kevin and threw out an uppercut.
Sidestepping the attack from Max, Kevin held onto Max's shoulder with both of his hands and pushed him to the ground. Immediately kicking Max on the head, Kevin kept kicking the hands Max put in front of him.
Rolling to the side and getting off the floor, Max wiped the sweat off his face and looked at the flames which was next to him. Moving away from the dense flames, Max changed his gaze from the fire to Kevin.
As Max was turning his head to look at him, Kevin's fist was making contact with his face. 'Time to end this.' Going to the side of Max, Kevin kicked him into the dense flames of the fire.
"Sorry Max, but I win." Kevin said as his vision went blank and he saw himself back in the training room.
