Chapter 38 - Chapter 37: Spineless Luo An

Smelling the faint gasoline odor coming from the second floor, Luo An sighed as he looked at the stun grenades on his body.

Now he couldn't use stun grenades; he was afraid that the intense flames from the explosion would ignite the villa.

Taking out stun grenades, smoke grenades, and others one by one and placing them on the ground, Luo An silently recited, and the pale blue page of the system that had been absent for several chapters appeared before his eyes.

The current time was 11:20 PM, about forty minutes away from the daily treasure chest opening at midnight.

Luo An looked at the inventory page of the system, which showed there was one bottle of underwater breathing potion, two bottles of stamina potion, one bottle of fire resistance potion, and one bottle of night vision potion.

There was no bleeding-stopping potion, which Luo An had been longing for.

Ever since Luo An had used the bleeding-stopping potion on the girl lying in the trunk and witnessed its potent effects, he had been hoping the system would produce another bottle.

At the critical moment, that bottle of bleeding-stopping potion could definitely save a life.

"Forget it. If it's not there, it's not there."

Limbering up, Luo An narrowed his eyes and peeled off most of his gear, leaving only a bulletproof vest. Closing the pale blue page of the system, he shouted loudly:

"Frederick, I'm coming in now!"

"Fine!"

Frederick's voice was a bit tense, but he still shouted loudly:

"I've already opened the door to the bedroom for you, but don't think of playing any tricks! If I see you make any other moves, I'll immediately shoot and ignite the gasoline. We'll all go to hell together!"

"Fine! You call the shots!"

Luo An nonchalantly agreed, ignoring the meaningful glances that Reesi kept shooting at him from not far away, stepped over the equipment he had taken off, and walked into the villa unhurriedly.

Passing through the living room, Luo An casually picked up a few steel pens from the table.

"FU-K!"

Outside the villa, Reesi was infuriated, pulled out her phone, and called Augustus, exclaiming:

"Chief, Luo An entered the villa without bringing any weapons, did you see that?"

"Of course, I saw it."

Augustus was also quite annoyed, as the outdoor surveillance camera was brazenly broadcasting the scene inside the villa, so of course, he had seen Luo An's behavior just now.

"What should I do?"

Reesi, standing in place and sweating profusely, believed in Luo An's ability to solve cases, but she hadn't heard that Luo An had learned anything about negotiation skills:

"What if Luo An and Frederick can't reach an agreement and he starts shooting? Damn, how much longer until SWAT arrives?!"

In office area No. 5 of the investigation team, watching Luo An's silhouette enter the villa on TV, Mona's expression was extremely solemn, holding the phone with sweaty palms; Augustus's face was black with anger, Virene's brows were tightly furrowed, and her legs kept switching and crossing in different manners.

Hearing Reesi's words, Virene's eyes were glued to the TV screen, still repeating the same phrase: "Trust in Luo An."

Snap!

Reesi hung up the phone, instinctually wanting to throw it away, but remembering that she might need it to contact Augustus later, she begrudgingly shoved it back into her pocket.

"Son of a bitch! Does this assassin have a problem with his brain?"

Seeing that Luo An was actually allowed to enter the villa, Broson was filled with disappointment, and Matthews was cursing the assassin's stupidity in his heart.

But on second thought, Luo An had removed all his equipment, while the assassin had both gun and hostages. Broson took a deep breath and gradually relaxed his grip on the wine glass.

He had read Luo An's profile; the man hadn't studied advanced negotiation, just picked up a smattering of negotiation skills during his training at the FBI Academy.

Taking a small sip of his wine, Broson's expression returned to calm.

No panic, it was highly likely that Luo An would fail to negotiate with the assassin, and the assassin might shoot Luo An.

"What's the name of this agent?"

On the other side, many viewers were deeply interested in the lone FBI agent who entered the villa on TV, some silently prayed for Luo An, while others waited to watch the spectacle unfold.

Many people who were still awake and energetic also cast interested glances at Luo An.

"I'm in!"

Putting the pen into his pocket, Luo An followed the stairs to the second floor, then raised his arms in a French military posture and slowly walked towards the bedroom on the side of the villa's second floor.

Inside the bedroom, Frederick held Sabina at a corner unseen from the window outside. His left hand gripped her neck, and his right hand tightly held a gun to her temple, while he buried his own head tightly behind Sabina.

Next to them was a meticulously adorned pink large bed, covered with all kinds of toys.

By the bed, there were two cans of gasoline, one of which had some cracks, and quite a bit of gasoline flowed out along the cracks onto the bedroom floor, covering two-thirds of the room.

"Shit!"

Seeing this scene, Luo An was quite vexed.

Frederick protected his head well; Luo An couldn't make a move at all.

Hearing Luo An's footsteps, Frederick sneaked a glance and saw that the other party indeed hadn't brought any weapons, which made him breathe a sigh of relief, but he still repeated the warning:

"Walk slowly, don't think about playing tricks!"

"OK! OK!"

Standing at the bedroom door, Luo An gave a look to Sabina, who had her hands bound behind her, her complexion pale, wearing a lace hollowed-out dress, to tell her not to panic.

Then he didn't enter the bedroom but made circles on the spot outside the bedroom door and said to Frederick:

"Take a good look, I really haven't brought any weapons, okay?"

Hearing this, Frederick slowly raised his head from behind Sabina, saw Luo An at the bedroom door indeed had no weapons in his hands, and there was no trace of guns at his waist or pockets, then he finally let go of his worry.

But as his gaze moved upward, Luo An's handsome face came into view, Frederick instinctively looked at Sabina.

Sure enough, Sabina was no longer panicked, her eyes fixed on Luo An.

Frederick was suddenly enraged and pointed the gun at Luo An and roared:

"Damn FBI agent! You still kept a bulletproof vest! Take it off right now!"

"Hey, Frederick, a bulletproof vest isn't a weapon, OK?"

Luo An, with a full head of exasperation, immediately shouted:

"I've put my weapon outside the villa, showing my sincerity. Now I ask you to also show some of yours, okay?"

Hearing Luo An refusing to take off the bulletproof vest, Frederick sneered, and yelled in a low voice next to Sabina's ear:

"See that, darling? What's the use of a man being handsome? He's just a wimp!"

Sabina didn't speak, nor could she, because Frederick stuffed the gun into her mouth.

Standing at the bedroom door, Luo An looked down at the distance between him and Frederick and asked unhurriedly:

"Frederick, may I enter the bedroom now?"

Hearing Luo An's question, Frederick, with his head hidden behind Sabina's back, had an unnatural flush on his face and said with a smile:

"Of course, you FBI wimp, you can come in."

"Listen, Frederick, I'm not a wimp. This is just a job, and I just don't want to lose my life for it, OK?"

Walking into the bedroom with long strides, Luo An pretended to yield, his expression serene, calmly said:

"You want your dog, I just want to complete the task assigned by my superiors, to check the room for other surprises. We both just want what we need without making it hard on each other, okay?"

Broson remembered correctly, Luo An Greenwood hadn't systematically learned negotiation, but in his past life, Luo An had learned from an old assassin.

How does an assassin negotiate when trapped by the enemy?

Very simple, negotiate bit by bit, empathize bit by bit, and then when the opponent is not paying attention, find a chance to strike and escape the scene.
