Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 - Triple Ability (1)

Gray: 500 Life Points | James: 500 Life Points

This time it was Gray who threw the first gate card. When he threw it, with its glow and the typical Haos crest, it sank into the ground and the usual yellow wave spread across the floor.

Since it was Gray's turn, he threw the first bakugan.

"Bakugan brawl! Bakugan stand! Haos Saurus!"

In a simple unfolding fashion, the yellow-and-white colored ball rolled, and then, in a very simple way, it unfolded and began to glow!

"Moo!"

What appeared, however, could be summed up most simply as a minotaur clad in gladiatorial armor. It had a styracosaurus-like head structure. It raised its head and roared.

James looked at it. Then he took a deep breath.

"Okay... Let's do this."

With that, he threw his bakugan.

"Bakugan fight! Bakugan stand! Smash them all, Darkus Hammersaur!"

Hammersaur roared, coming out as it always did, casting a shadow over all the light of Haos Saurus. The purple particles emitted with its roar reduced the excessive brightness in the air and made it more visible.

James frowned. A Saurus of equal G-Power seemed like a bad match for him. But he was relieved that in the worst case scenario, he could bring in the Gargonoid.

Just then Gray quickly used an ability card:

"Ability activated: Lightning!"

With that, Saurus' horns began to glow. The horns glowed like a blinding light, momentarily restricting James and Hammersaur's vision as a voice was heard.

At that moment, Saurus charged towards Hammersaur like a bull. Hammersaur was barely able to slide to the side to dodge its bull-like advance. James quickly inserted an ability card at that moment.

"Ability activated: Crush Hurricane!"

The lights in the Saurus' horns turned to purple particles that passed into Hammersaur's gauntlets.

Hammersaur swung its fist at Saurus, who was trying to recover! Saurus was off balance at that moment and could not even avoid the attack. Just as he was about to be punched, Gray's voice was heard.

"Ability activated: Aura Strike!"

At the sound of Gray's voice, Saurus' entire body began to glow! One by one, the beams of blinding brilliance hit Hammersaur's body, which had no chance to retreat.

The purple particles turned to yellow-white particles as they advanced towards Saurus. Saurus straightened up quickly and, with a roar, swung its fist at Hammersaur's chest.

Hammersaur tried to block it with its arms, but its reaction was undoubtedly slow. James saw at that moment that he could not avoid it. He quickly used his abilityl card to soften the blow.

"Ability activated: Dark Mirror!"

"Up?"

James was surprised. He remembered clearly that in previous uses it had worked as a transfer. But what he saw would surprise him even more. The punch that should have reached Hammersaur at that moment had passed through Hammersaur!

Saurus was astonished. Just then, Hammersaur's growl could be heard behind its. It tried a quick shoulder thrust, but Hammersaur narrowly dodged it.

It was clear that time was limited. James quickly snapped out of his daze, gripped his bakugan tightly and threw it.

"Hang on Hammersaur! Bakugan brawl!"

Just then Gray shouted:

"Gate card open! One on one!"

The bakugan James had thrown flew backwards and landed in his hand. He stood dumbfounded.

"What?"

Gray said with a grin:

"I've heard of throwing a second bakugan when your ass is in a pinch, it's a command card. As the name suggests, a third bakugan cannot be added to the field under any circumstances."

Hammersaur couldn't avoid Saurus any longer, so it was inevitable that he would take one blow after another. But at that moment Gray, who had not had enough, shouted:

"Ability activated: Saurus Glow!"

Saurus attacked Hammersaur with a blow from the side that struck Hammersaur unstoppably. At that moment, James shouted unconsciously:

"Hammersaur! No!"

But his shout was to no avail. With that final blow, Hammersaur transformed back into its ball form!

With a roar of defeat, the ball form flew towards James. James quickly caught the ball and heard a new notification.

Gray: 500 Life Points | James: 200 Life Points

James frowned as he saw his own life score. He knew in that moment that playing Hammersaur had undoubtedly been the wrong choice.

Gray grinned, but it didn't last long. He turned serious qucikly. He had fought many battles to get to this stage and he knew that one bakugan could change everything.

James had the realization that this time he had to increase his G-Power difference to 500 and finish the job in one go. Otherwise this match would be much more difficult.

James picked up his card and threw it towards the ground. He muttered as the purple waves spread across the floor:

"Gate card ready."

At that moment he heard Fox's voice:

[James, breathe deeply. You hold the gate pass this time. There's no way you can lose!]

James laughed meaningfully. What Fox said only applied to the command card. But what if there was a bakugan that did the same? There was no way to be sure.

Not that he was worried.

James, laughing despite losing the first round, surprised many. James spoke as he held the Gargonoid, which was undoubtedly darker in color than Hammersaur:

"That was good. It won't be like that again."

With that, he threw his Gargonoid before Gray could say anything else.

"Bakugan brawl! Bakugan stand! Darkus Gargonoid!"

The same phenomena as before happened as a black tornado came out. But it was undoubtedly less effective than the first time.

After a tornado salvo, the Gargonoid appeared, looking emotionless. With no emotion in its eyes, it looked like a soldier waiting for a command.

Gray frowned. He pulled out another bakugan as he put the saurus in his pocket. Then his eyes lit up.

"This is good."

With that, he threw the bakugan without further thought.

"Bakugan brawl! Bakugan stand! Bring us victory, Haos El Condor!"

When the bakugan he called El Condor touched the ground, its top opened, revealing only its face and arms. With that, it glowed dazzlingly and revealed itself.

Uh... What emerged looked like some kind of totem. It was like a wooden totem with a strange grin. But you could tell it was a bakugan because of its limbs. Its head and a large part of its main body, which could also be considered its body, were made of gold. The arms, legs and the rest of the details were white.

James swallowed. El Condor was a bakugan with a very strange and mysterious aura. Of course, he was almost never seen after the first season, but that didn't matter.

James quickly inserted his ability card.

"Ability activate: Shiny Claws! Attack!"

With that, Gargonoid's eyes glowed for a moment. With that, his claws began to glow with purple light!

The Gargonoid flew up and swiftly swung its claw at El Condor, Gray placed the ability card without flinching.

"Ability activate: Holy Light!"

With that, El Condor began to shine like the sun. Like a holy light, its glow brought comfort to the vestals. As if that wasn't enough, it nullified the Gargonoid's ability!

The claw came within an inch of hitting, but El Condor was able to dodge it by flying away. James spoke through gritted teeth:

"Gate card... open! Darkus Reactor!"

But it did not open. Instead, the card appeared to shatter into a white flash of light.

"He overrode the gate card? How?"

Gray explained as James asked in surprise:

"Holy Light disables the gate card and deducts a hundred g-power from the opponent. Nice try, rookie, but that's it."

Speaking with confidence, he placed a new ability card.

"Ability activate: Cursed Unleash!"

The warming lights of El Condor quickly began to intensify to target Darkus Hammersaur. He seemed to want to finish the job with a single attack of light.

The Gargonoid stood motionless, as if waiting for a command, while everything looked to James for his next move.

James was really stressed at that moment. He had been in many matches, but he couldn't remember being this stuck. Fortunately Fox was doing her best to calm him down so he could think straight.

However, he had to take a gamble. Although he could have stopped it with another ability, he could have played a second bakugan with it. At that moment he would undoubtedly lose.

To prevent this from happening, he took the cards in his hand and, after placing them in the glove, said the following words:

"Triple ability... active!"
