Chapter 19 - The Duel Continues

Those beasts were Kairos and Lisa's... " Yes they were their guardian spirits, Impressive aren't they?" This is my first time seeing guardian spirits. They are so big, strong, and scary. Are you also like that?

I am more majestic than them if that's what you are asking.

Are you? When can I also summon you like that did?

First try to summon your spirit weapon, after that, we can discuss how you can materialize me.

They looked like they could destroy everything in their sight. "They can, but It's up to us. If we want to destroy, we can". What does that mean? Wouldn't that make it look like we are on the wraith side and want to destroy this universe? " It isn't the guardians that want to protect the universe, it's us, we holders. Yumiko told us that, guardians are like wraiths who have the power to destroy anything they want, but they can't. It's because they cannot materialize on their own. That's why they need holders who can withstand their power and bring out their best potential. That's the holder will how he/she wishes to use its guardian's power". Oh, is that so? What do you have to say about it?

He is not wrong about the materialization but we guardians are not like wraiths or to say not anymore. When we were to open our eyes, we were the only living beings in the universe. At that time the universe was just a big black space. But...

" Rudra, can you hear me?" Caelum was going for his second match with Seri. Oh, sorry. Do your best and make sure to win so that my chance doesn't come. " I don't think so. Seri is a formidable opponent and my chances of winning don't look great." Just do your best and after that, if we don't win just leave everything to me, ok? He smiled after hearing me. " Looks like I can't afford to lose and leave everything to my junior, can I? I will make sure that I will win this". Hey, we are of the same age. "But still you are our junior here". Whatever.

And thus it was about to start the second match...

The arena was electric with anticipation as the second match between the boys and girls was about to commence. Caelum, with his guardian spirit Zephyrus, a majestic Gryphon embodying the power of wind, stood poised and ready. His guns gleamed under the lights, a testament to his precision and speed. Opposite him, Seri, accompanied by Bramble, a steadfast tortoise representing the strength of the earth, gripped her hammer with determination.

The signal to start echoed and Caelum sprang into action. Zephyrus's wind-enhanced agility allowed him to move with blinding speed, firing a barrage of bullets towards Seri. But Bramble's earthy power fortified Seri, and she swung her hammer with immense force, creating a barrier of rock that deflected the bullets.

The clash was intense. Caelum's wind-driven speed and agility made him a difficult target, while Seri's unyielding strength and earth-based defenses kept her grounded. Caelum circled her, firing from different angles, but Seri's hammer swings created shockwaves that disrupted his rhythm.

As the match wore on, Caelum managed to push Seri into a corner. His relentless assault left her with little room to maneuver. Victory seemed within his grasp. But Seri, with a fierce determination, called upon Bramble's power. The ground beneath her erupted, sending Caelum stumbling back.

Seizing the moment, Seri charged forward, her hammer raised high. Caelum tried to regain his footing, but Seri's attack was relentless. With a final, powerful swing, she brought her hammer down, narrowly missing Caelum but creating a shockwave that knocked him off balance. She followed up with a swift strike, disarming him and sending him to the ground. When she finally emerged victorious, a triumphant smile broke through, her eyes shining with the satisfaction of hard-earned victory. And so with that, the second match came to an end.

Caelum walked over to me, his expression a mix of exhaustion and determination. Despite the sweat and the strain from his intense battle, he managed a supportive smile.

"Hey, Rudra," Caelum said, placing a reassuring hand on your shoulder. "I know you saw what happened out there. It was a tough fight, and Seri pushed me to my limits. But that's what makes these battles worth it."

You looked up, concern evident in your eyes. "You almost had her, Caelum. It was so close."

Caelum nodded, his expression serious. "Yeah, it was close. But that's the nature of these matches. Sometimes, even when you give it your all, things don't go your way. But that doesn't mean you stop fighting. It means you learn, you adapt, and you come back stronger."

He squeezed your shoulder encouragingly. "You've got this, Rudra. Remember, it's not just about winning or losing. It's about giving everything you've got, pushing yourself beyond your limits, and showing everyone what you're made of. Zephyrus and I will be cheering for you."

I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of Caelum's words. "Thanks, Caelum. I'll give it my best."

Caelum smiled, a spark of encouragement in his eyes. "I know you will. Now go out there and show them what you can do."

Looks like it is our time to shine.

It would have been nice if you could fight with everything you have got, but since you can't use your full power it would be difficult for you to win.

Whatever, I will use my past wrestling experience if needed.

You could have won if it was that simple. It's a spirit power match where you have to use your spirit power and weapons to win. And you can't use both properly. Oh, you can't manifest your weapon, can you?

I know my weaknesses all too well. The weapon that should be an extension of my will remains elusive, slipping through my grasp like sand. My spirit power, a force meant to be wielded with precision and strength, falters at the crucial moment. I must find a way to harness your power, to turn my weakness into strength.
