"Shall we awaken him? It's been thirty minutes since his birth," Anos asked, glancing at his watch and observing his meditating grandson.
"Let him be. We shouldn't disturb him. Although, it's curious. He seems to be in a trance-like state," Jin remarked, his attention fixed on Sam. A faint, ethereal aura surrounded him, almost imperceptible to the casual observer.
Jin found it intriguing because typically, when heroes awakened, they didn't exhibit such unusual behavior or enter a trance state like his grandson was experiencing.
"It seems like he's starting to come out of it," Yuna noted, noticing a shift in Sam's serene expression.
All eyes turned to Sam, who remained in his meditative pose.
"Ddgd djbw hh dbdh..." Sam murmured, his words indistinct.
"What is he saying?" Yuki leaned in closer, her face a mix of curiosity and concern.
...
POV: Sam Verninne
"What just happened?" I couldn't help but wonder aloud.
The Dragon King? Why would he take an interest in me? As I looked at the blue screen before me, a sigh escaped me.
"Yeah, things are about to get real."
The System? Undoubtedly, trouble was on the horizon. I could feel it deep within my bones. Even with my eyes closed, I could envision the interface of the system.
Opening my eyes, I met a pair of mesmerizing blue eyes that mirrored my own. There was a sense of familiarity about them.
Instinctively, I took a step back. As I studied the face behind those eyes, I realized it was my Aunt Yuki, gazing at me with an unusual expression. Her cheeks were flushed.
Was she feeling unwell?
Glancing around, I noticed my family members casting curious glances, not at me, but at my aunt.
Then it struck me. My mind was flooded with information, revealing details about my newfound abilities. I closed my eyes, focusing on my newly acquired powers, contemplating the system and everything that had transpired. However, I knew I couldn't divulge everything just yet. The system and the involvement of the Dragon King demanded careful consideration. I needed time to process and plan before sharing any revelations.
Surprisingly, no one pressed me for immediate answers. Instead, they allowed me the space to gather my thoughts. I excused myself from the main hall and ascended to my room on the second floor.
Seated in a cross-legged position, I lifted my hips slightly above my knees to maintain stability. Aligning my spine, I recalled my grandfather Jin's teachings. Imagining a string pulling the top of my head upward, I elongated my spine.
Interlacing my fingers, I felt the warmth emanating from my palms.
Closing my eyes gently, I relaxed my jaw, releasing any tension from my brow and forehead.
I let go of any strain in my shoulders, allowing them to relax and sink down.
Contrary to popular belief, cultivation wasn't solely about gaining power. It aimed to bring tranquility to the mind. Nowadays, that seemed to be forgotten in the race for dominance. My current focus was on calming my mind in the wake of the system's revelation and the unfolding events.
A sigh slipped from my lips as I sensed mana enveloping my body. It was warm and invigorating, entering with each inhale and departing with each exhale.
Simultaneously, a peculiar ache made itself known in my body.
"This shouldn't be happening," I muttered to myself, even as I continued absorbing the surrounding mana. A breakthrough was within reach.
SWOOSH
Choosing to disregard the unfamiliar and irrelevant, I honed in on what mattered most to me at that moment.
And what mattered most was my newly awakened abilities... and the system?
Merely uttering the word "system" made it visible to me—the catalyst that would reshape my life.
<@#$%&*#!$'s soul verified>
"Is this the help the King of Dragons mentioned?" I contemplated, resting my chin on my hand.
It seemed welcoming and transparent, but I was well aware there were likely strings attached. Yet, the allure of the system was undeniable.
What had I done to gain the legendary system I had only read about in books? I hoped that the course of events would ultimately prove to be beneficial.
But for now, let's focus on the system.
"System."
