Chapter 13 - Heavenly Access

"Why? As you said yourself, rank 0 spells are fairly equal. Why bother learning a different spell when the essence is practically similar?" Jake asked, curious.

"No reason. Learning otherworldly spells sounds cool, right? I think it is going to motivate your classmates. Besides, even among rank 0 spells, there are rare spells that have special properties. If your classmates learn a spell suitable for their talent, they will grow stronger faster."

"I am not against your idea, but you are aware that even rank 0 spell books are expensive, right?"

Fang laughed. "I am not asking you for free. I will give you one legacy potion for each student in this class," he said with a generous expression.

Jake, however, looked at him with a dumbfounded expression. Fang was a senior wizard, so he knew one rank 0 spell book was equal to ten low legacy potions. Jake couldn't help but think his teacher was stingy.

Jake approached Fang on the podium, and the latter's face was beaming, thinking Jake would agree to the deal. As his teacher extended his hand, Jake only stared at him silently.

"Do we have a deal?" Fang asked awkwardly.

"Three times... You have to help me outside of the academy three times if I am asking for your help. If you agree, we have a deal," Jake said.

"Sure," Fang replied while scratching his face.

Fang was probably thinking a student's request wouldn't be troublesome, but Jake was grinning inwardly. He was powerful enough to face people of the same level, so he would only ask for Fang's help when he was truly in great danger.

'Great, I have gained a powerful backing,' Jake thought.

"Then, teacher, you should give me a device to help me contact you. It shouldn't be difficult for you to give me one," Jake said.

"Alright. I will give it to you after the lesson is over. For now, why don't we demonstrate your power?"

Jake agreed with him. Then, they proceeded to work with the deal.

Fang was about to call all the students to the podium, but Marilyn suddenly lifted her hand. "Your highness, does something matter?"

"Teacher, I am not feeling well. Can I excuse myself from this class?" Marilyn asked.

"O-okay."

"Are you okay? Do you want me to accompany you to the infirmary?" Jake asked when Marilyn passed by the podium. He jumped off the podium and stood before her. As he observed her, he thought nothing was wrong with her. He was sure about it because he understood her very well as fellow lazy people.

She probably wanted to skip the class, but he wouldn't snitch on her. Jake would help her skip the class in hope she would help him skip the class when he felt like it.

Marilyn smiled at Jake and replied, "I can go by myself. You help the other students."

"Marilyn, wait...." Jake extended his hand as Marilyn walked away. He hadn't told her that he wouldn't snitch on her yet, so he really wanted to follow her just to have this conversation. "Ah, well. I can tell her later." He shrugged and turned around.

After Marilyn left the class, Jake began his job. First, Fang called the students to the podium, and then Jake checked their status windows one by one. He started with his close friend, Brian Foreman.

[Name: Brian Foreman. Talent: Electric Manipulation.]

"I reckon you want a lightning attributed spell," Jake said.

Brian scratched his nape and replied, "Yeah, I want it, but the cost of a rank 0 spell with a special attribute is so expensive. My family said it is not worth the cost. If I can get it for free, I will owe you one, Jake."

Jake nodded. "Let's see if I can find you one." He activated his [Akashic Eyes] and used [Heavenly Access]. Suddenly, the surroundings distorted and flashed him by. After a while, the scenery changed. He was floating in the middle of the space. There were countless stars around him. Each of the stars emitted colorful lights. He could laze around in this empty space and enjoyed the celestial view. However, another thing was more dominant than those stars. It existed under him. Countless stars revolved into a giant core under him, creating a gravitational force that pulled his body.

Jake let himself fall into the galaxy. At the same time, the stars shot beams of light at him, imbuing him with all the ability knowledge in this universe.

All the knowledge flowed into his brain endlessly, yet Jake put on a peaceful expression rather than showing fatigue. There was no limit to what he could access. However, at his level, all higher ranked information's details were omitted, and he could only see their titles. He ignored them and focused on finding lightning attribute rank 0 spells. As he thought of that, all irrelevant information scattered away, leaving only related information.

"As I thought, the number of lightning attribute spells is a lot, even though they are only rank 0 spells."

While it was true a lot of rank 0 spells existed, most of them were similar to each other. For example, take [Lightning Arrow] and [GninthgiL Worra]. Both have different languages, but they were the same spell. Another example was [Lightning Arrow] and [Lightning Dagger]. Both produced their own unique shapes, but their damage output was the same. This was the reason why rank 0 spells were fairly equal.

Of course, unique spells still exist even among rank 0 spells. Lightning property itself was already a unique attribute, but Jake felt he could find something more for his new friend.

After browsing through [Heavenly Access], Jake found a few unique spells. "I guess these are enough." He smiled as he looked at three small orbs in front of him. Each of these orbs represented a spell model, and he could immediately understand it when he put the orb inside his spirit body.

"First, I will save these three orbs first." Jake waved his hand, and the orbs flew to empty spaces. After that, they exploded and turned into constellations. This was one of the features of [Heavenly Access]. He called it [Bookmark]. With this feature, he could save the knowledge orbs into empty spaces and recall them when he needed them. With it, he wouldn't lose something he had browsed.

After saving the orbs, Jake wanted to come back. With just a thought, his spirit body floated away from the Heavenly Access Galaxy. The surroundings blurred and flashed before him. In the blink of an eye, Jake returned to reality.

Jake took out a pen and started to write the three spell models he had prepared for Brian. When he used [Heavenly Access], his spirit body would be pulled into the Akashic Records, but he could access the bookmarked knowledge while conscious.

'Uh, do I have to write for all these people? What a tiring process. I will learn a spell that allows me to write everything I am thinking of,' he thought.

"Thanks, Jake. But why do you look tired?" Brian asked as he received the note.

"Don't sweat the small stuff," Jake said. Even though he treated it like a small matter, using [Heavenly Access] consumed a lot of Mana, especially if he accessed it for too long. He was in a weakened state at the moment. If Reina or Misael challenged him, they could win easily.

Brian shrugged and started to read the note. As his eyes followed the letters in the note, he put on an excited expression. "Oh! Oh!! These are such unique spells. I can't believe these are only rank 0 spells!"

There were three spells he had bookmarked for Brian. [Lightning Arrow], a spell to conjure an arrow with the lightning attribute; [Lightning Thread], a spell to conjure a mana thread with the lightning attribute; and [Lightning Blast], a spell with the power to compress high pressure lightning attribute mana and release it as a powerful torrent.

All the spells were good, but Brian chose [Lightning Thread] as his first spell model. His reason was the thread was versatile and could be used in many situations. Moreover, it only cost a little Mana compared to the other two spells.

Jake agreed with his friend's decision. Of course, he knew Brian would need the other two spells in the future, so he would write these two spells' learning methods in Brian's strengthening manual and give it to him for free. His initial purpose was to strengthen his classmates anyway, and he only thought of Fang's gift as a bonus.

After Brian was done, the other classmates looked at him expectantly, but Jake couldn't reach them all in one day due to mana fatigue. "I will only teach one more person. Who wants to go next?" And... Everyone raised their hands including Fang Whitehound.

"No, why are you raising your hand too, teacher?" Jake retorded.

Fang immediately put his hand down and clicked his tongue.

Jake looked at him with a dumbfounded expression and decided to ignore him. Then, he chose one person by himself. "Let's see. You are the last lucky person for today," he said as he pointed at someone.
