Twice a year Blake visited the beautiful human town which was a 2 hour plane ride away from his pack lands. He loved the different pace of life the humans seemed to live and would often spend time walking around the town when he was not sat in stuffy meetings.
These meetings however were important, they were pivotal events that brought together key players from various corners of his industry. The meetings were an opportunity to discuss strategies, and make important decisions that would shape the trajectory of his business for months to come. He had been attending these meetings alongside his father until the age of 21 and then one day his father decided it was now time for his son and heir to step up and take control of the business, the pack and the whole werewolf community.
the meetings came to a close and every attendee left feels accomplished and satisfied with the plans laid out. Blake leant back in is chair and let out a sigh of relief.
"As the meetings concluded early shall i get the jet ready to leave early?"
Blake opened one eye and looked to his right at his best friend and Beta Steve.
"No, I think I will go and explore a little. Do you want to come?" Blake replied as he again leant back in his chair and closed his eyes.
"No it is fine Blake you go and get some space. Let me know when you are ready to head back and I will meet you"
"Suit yourself" he said with a chuckle knowing full well that the real reason Steve was not joining him was because of the pretty human receptionist he had been chatting too all morning.
Blake stood up grabbed his leather jacket and headed down the elevator and out of the building.
Blake had been walking along the streets taking in the sights and sounds of the busy streets near to the campus of the university. Blakes business had made a few donations over the years to support the university and some of the lecturers were even members if his pack who taught medicine. Blake turned a corner and found himself stood outside a coffee shop.
The bell above the coffee shop door jingled softly as Blake entered, the warmth of the cozy atmosphere a stark contrast to the chill outside. His tall frame filled the doorway, drawing the attention of a few of the customers. Suddenly his wolf started stirring in his mind and his thoughts were going crazy. The most amazing smell wrapped itself around Blake and took over all of his senses.
"Mate Mate Mate Mate" Jet his wolf started saying over and over again in his mind.
Blakes heart quickened against his chest as he let the scent guide him to the counter of the coffee shop where his eyes landed upon the most beautiful emerald green eyes he had ever seen. He stared straight into them waiting for her to recognise him as her mate but nothing happened. The girl looked away from his intense stare.
"Hey there," he said to gain her attention but again nothing happened in response. Blake panicked. "I'll have a black coffee, please."
The girl handed over the coffee and as she did their hands touched. The sparks of electricity shot through Blakes body and his heart sped up even more. He felt his cock twitch in his pants at just the smallest touch. He had to fight his wolf and every fiber in his body to stop himself jumping over the counter and kissing her. Blake took the coffee and sat down by the window.
Blake watched her every move, enthralled by her movements and surrounded by her scent. Blake continued to watch as people came and went until he suddenly found himself alone with her. he glanced at his watched and realised it was nearly 6pm. He stood up scraping his chair across the floor as he did. He approached the counter.
"Hi" He said causing the girl to turn on her heals. Instead of her jumping she had a big smile on her face.
"Hi" she replied. Blake could not help but let his gaze linger on her plump pink lips as she spoke.
"My name is Blake" He spat out with urgency wanting her to know his name.
"I'm Marie, nice to meet you"
Blake stood staring hoping that Marie would pick up on the same feeling he was having but nothing happened.
"Mate Mate Mate" Jet continued in his mind running in circles get excited by the scent. Marie voice snapped Blakes attention.
"I am sorry but I am closing up in the next 2 minutes, If you would like another drink I can do a black coffee to go"
Blakes smile left his face and sadness filled his eye, why was it that he was not being recognised as her mate. As his chest filled with pain he straightened his back.
"No problem, No need for another coffee tonight. I shall be leaving now" With that Blake turned on his heals and walked out of the coffee shop.
Blake stood across the street from the coffee shop in the tree line. the flickering street lights making sure he was hidden from casual view. He watched as Marie's silhouette came into view as she stepped out and locked the door.
Blake's gaze followed her every step, his wolf senses attuned to the rhythm of her movements. He noticed the way she would occasionally glance up at the night sky, as if seeking solace in the constellations that twinkled above. He wondered what thoughts and dreams filled her mind as she walked alone, immersed in her own world.
Blake followed and eventually she stopped in front of her home. Even though he was stood across the street he could see a slight a tremble to her hands as she fumbled for her keys in a hurry to get the door open. Does she know she is being watched. Blake thought to himself. Blake continued to watch until she was safely behind the door and heard the key turn in the lock.
Blake turned to head back to meet Steve when suddenly a scent caught his nostrils. Jet growled and stood ready for action.
"Werewolf" Jet ushered the words. Blake rushed across the street and around the side of the house following the scent. He looked up as saw a light turn on in the upstairs window. He carefully and quietly made his way up onto the porch. The scent of the werewolf strong against the back of the house. Blake reached out for the handle of the door. When a loud scream pierced his ears.
