The sun shone into the room through the thin hospital curtains in Marie's room. Marie was no sat on the edge of the bed with her arms wrapped around her knees. The Pain from the last 48 hours had not let up and Marie had not had any sleep. Marie stood up and walked to wards the bathroom. Maybe a shower would help. As she stood undressed in the ghbathroom she looked at herself in the mirror and followed the black lines that now covered her side with her finger as tears rolled down her cheeks. She stepped into the hot shower and prayed the hot water would wash away the pain.
Marie finished up and got changed into a fresh set of Pj's that had been laid on her bed for her. The clothes felt soft against her skin and she took a deep breath in only to then realize that she could no longer smell the scent as deeply as she could when she had her wolf and heightened smell. A twang of sadness hit Marie's gut.
The door to her room swung open and in walked Alpha Barrett, followed by Jacob and her father.
"Morning Alpha" Marie said as she stood from her bed.
"Morning, everything has been arranged you will leave the pack this morning" Alpha Barret spoke the words with no emotion.
"Yes Alpha I understand....Thank you for your mercy"
"Jacob will escort you out of the pack lands and into the human town, after that you are not to return you may only have contact with the Doctor whilst necessary after this you must not contact us. Do you understand?"
"I do Alpha, although if it would be ok with you I do not wish to be escorted to the town. I wish to do this alone"
Alpha Barrett smiled and looked over at his son.
"Granted. Now my son can get on with more important things....like his mate" He spat the last of words.
Alpha Barret turned on his heals and left the room with Jacob on his heels. As Jacob reached the door, his steps faulted as he turned to take one last look at Marie. His heart breaking and his wolf whining in his head. Jacob had hoped Marie would look up and see him, and he the pain he was feeling but Marie kept her eyes fixed to the floor and did not acknowledge him at all.
Silence hung over the room as Marie shifted her weight from side to side, and her Father stood stiffly on the spot.
Lord Francis was the first to break the silence.
"You look so much like your Mother Marie do you know that?"
Marie gasped at he fathers words and looked up to meet his eyes which now had tears threatening to spill.
"I am sorry that I could not be the father you needed but please take what i offer now to ensure you are settled in your new life" Lord Francis handed over the large hold all he was holding along with 2 envelopes. Marie reached out and took them shakily.
"In the bag i have had some clothes placed in there for you. Enough to last you a couple of weeks until you can go and buy your own. In the first envelope you will find details of the home i have brought..."
"I cannot accept this Father....My Lord" Marie held out the bag and envelope back to her father,
"Please Marie, this is the least you deserve after the way I have treated you for the last 17 years"
Marie looked at her father and with tears rolling down her face she could not fight the urge she felt and wrapped her arms around her fathers neck and sobbed into his neck. Lord Francis froze on the spot but finally wrapped his arms around his daughter for only the second time in her life and comforted her whilst she cried. After what felt like an eternity Marie pulled away and sat down on her hospital bed.
"I am so sorry that this happened to you Marie but i hope all i have organized for you will ease the transition. The house is all paid for and is your to keep or sell as you see fit. I have also set up a bank account in your name and transferred money over to you. There is enough in there for you to do whatever you please with your life"
"father, are you sure?" Marie looked up at her father again with tears in her eyes.
" I am my child, you deserve this and more and I will pray to moon goddess that one day you find it in your heart to forgive me"
Marie could not answer only look at her father. Lord Francis knew forgiveness would not come with money or a house but he had hoped with time his daughter may be able to forgive and move.
"Thank you for all of this father, I had better get walking if I wish to reach the town before night fall"
"you will not be walking Marie" Marie turned on her heels to look at the door and saw the Doctor stood in the doorway.
"I told you I would be continuing to look after you so i will drive you to your new home, I cannot have you walking such a distance whilst you are still healing"
Marie turned to her father, gave him one last hug and as she did she whispered into his ear " I would like to write to you if i may"
Lord Francis squeezed his daughter and whispered back "I would love that"
Marie broke the hug, picked up her bag and envelopes and followed the doctor out the room to start the journey to new home.
The doctor and Marie climbed into the car and started the long journey to the human town. Marie quickly fell asleep with her head against the window. The car came to a stop and the jolt woke Marie. Groggily she looked at the clock on the cars dash and noted it was late afternoon.
"We are here Marie" The Doctor said as he climbed out the car. The Doctor walked to the other side of the car and opened Marie's door for her. Marie climbed out and stood staring at what was now her new home. She followed the Doctor up the steps of her new home bag in hand and reached for the handle. Marie took a deep breath and swallowed hard before she opened the door and stepped inside her new human life.
