Chapter 4 - A peculiar encounter

Finding herself dumbfounded at his uncanny sense of humor, Rosaline ambled back from him to whom she had unconsciously gotten too close in her inquisitiveness. Glimpsing at her finger that he had lightly clasped with a smile on his face, she took her index finger away, bringing it back to the place it originally belonged to.

Crossing her hands, standing beside the window at a rather far expanse from the extravagant man "Is your name Edemon?", she inquired on a serious note. He tilted his head as he snickered and looked down on the wooden floor exclaiming, "How rude of me for not acquainting myself", his gaze roamed from the ground and fell right on her glamorous glistening blue eyes which were twinkling more in the essence of sunlight,

"It's Edmond, my lady. Not Edemon.", he asserted while glancing at her face as if he was casting a spell on her.

Rosaline couldn't comprehend why every time his eyes landed on hers, but one thing was conclusive his elegance was an outer-worldly notion. More mesmerizing and graceful than any human she had ever seen in life. She blanked out once again but soon sloped back to the present as Edmond flickered his fingers as her mind had blanked for literal seconds.

"My lady or should I call Rosaline? You collapsed yesterday because of your fever. I assume you might be starving now". Just then a middle-aged woman entered the gigantic room they were in. The woman had a moderately distinct guise than what she had predicted. She was more human than she had guessed, at least by her looks.

"She is your lady in waiting. Make sure to notify her of anything that you require. She will take care of everything from your clothes to daily necessities", he told her expressing in a tone of informality. "The woman was positively in her thirties and Edmond looked younger than why the informal tone?", she reckoned to herself.

"It's Raven, my lady", the woman quoted in a formal tone while brushing her eyes and head downwards. "She will be here to take care of you all the time". He scantily gazed at the woman "Get the lady prepared for the breakfast and bring her to the dining hall", he ordered while passing a smile to Rosaline.

…..

Edmond turned his back and went out of the room. She couldn't help but stare at his posterior which was muscular and dignified. His charm captivated her even from the back, but she couldn't help but wonder about an eerie uncanny correspondence that she had encountered before. He looked familiar but how she marveled. "mm... Why can't I point on it?", she murmured to herself

The woman came forth and respectfully bowed to her and said in a reputable yet strangely formal tone that was somewhat unfamiliar to her. "My lady, please come this way for the bath". As soon as the lady pointed out the term bath, her eyes popped out and she instantly looked at the gown that she was wearing at the moment. Certainly, she was wearing a skirt previously so how come the clothes had changed. An extremely comfortable set of pajamas that gleamed in pink tone paralleled her ruby-colored hair. Her face blushed pinkish red. It would not be incorrect to say that Raven couldn't discern between her pink strands of hair and blushing pink face.

"What are you thinking Rose?", she lightly stroked her fingers on her cheeks as the lady in waiting peeked at her with a smiling face. "My lady, I changed your clothes last night. Your clothes were soaking wet, and His majesty was concerned as he carried your feverish body".

....

She sighed a breath of relief but was shoved back to verity after assessing her words. She repeated her sentence in her mind as her tongue landed on one single word. "What? What do you mean by His majesty?", she exclaimed in a yet doubting tone.

Raven seemed to have grasped the confused expression on her face as wrinkles formed on her forehead. "My lady, by His majesty I mean the emperor. Emperor Edmond who had just stopped by and had taken care of you all night."

.....

A big interlude. "S-so y-you mean E-Edmond is the E-e-emperor?" she stuttered her words as if her tongue had twisted in a maze of puzzlement. Sweat resided on her face and she swallowed her saliva. Comprehending her withstanding infatuation at this discovery, Raven eased her mind " His majesty Edmond is a very forbearing and compassionate person so he wouldn't have minded your words. You can feel at ease"

This one sentence empathized with her concern as the tensed face and crease on the forehead smoothed out a bit. Raven continued speaking in the same formal tone, "You have come from another world so it would be absolutely fine with His majesty as your circumstance is rather rare, to say the least"

Rosaline stared at her in puzzlement. She was that sort of a person whose feelings projected onto her face, and it was this trait that subconsciously gave her a very cute and striking personality. Raven could even hear her concern from her expression "How many people know that I came from another world?". Before she could voice her doubt, the lady in waiting fulfilling the obligation assigned to her remarked, " And yet only a restricted number of people, specifically in the castle know about that"

Raven could comprehend her frigidity and tense demeanor that prevented her from embedding her faith in her. She was a relatively mere stranger she had met for the first time. It was the same sentiments Raven had felt when she first came to the castle. No wonder Rosaline had felt a cascade of emotions than she had ever come across in her life.

Raven directed Rosaline towards the bath. As she quietly followed her, she entered a massive bath that was affixed directly to the room. The room was majestic itself, but the bath was something else. It had incredibly elegant curtains that hung from the ceiling and wrapped a window as enormous as the space itself.

Warm water with petals had been prepared for her to wash. Rosaline was not accustomed to these royal ways of living as she had always bathed on her own. "Excuse me. I would be glad if I could bathe alone. That would be much preferable"

Raven conceded statically to her request as she respectfully bowed to her once again and went out of the space. It seemed to Rosaline as if she had found a good acquaintance who regarded her requests and solace.
