Everything started when Wen Chao came to the cloud recess interrupting one of Lan Qiren's lessons. Causing a bit of mischief and wanting to set off two disciples from his sect to secretly spy there. Wen Chao immediately wanted to go back to Qishan but the latter didn't want to and insisted to stay a few days so he could rest. The others didn't want him to stay but nobody said anything as Lan Qiren already approved his ideas unwillingly as he didn't want to anger the young Wen heir anymore.
After a couple of days of Wen Chao staying at the cloud recess and relentlessly bullying Wen Ning and pissing off almost everyone he came across except three people and those three were Meng Yao, Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji.
And as it was his last day there he wanted to do his best and be the absolute worst today. He ran around, shouted, laughed without reason, ate more than three bowls, dressed inappropriately, woke up after five and got to bed after nine, drank alcohol, annoyed everyone, talked while eating, hunted animals inside the and bullied Wen Ning even worse throwing him on the ground, kicking, insulting him, spitting on him, throwing rocks and mud. He did this not alone but with some of his closest disciples and some of the other disciples that were staying with him held Wen Qing, Wen Ning's sister, so that she could only watch what would happen to her younger brother while screaming and begging Wen Chao to stop.
Luckily Wei Wuxian and his shidi Jiang Cheng heard her and walked there as fast as they could. As they arrived they quickly hid behind some trees. In an unguarded moment, they attacked with their swords and zidian. Most of the disciples ran away but they got Wen Chao and two other disciples tied together by zidian. After helping Wen Ning get back on his feet Wei Wuxian and Wen Qing helped him get back to Wei Wuxian's room and Jiang Cheng walked beside them with Wen Chao and the others.
They brought the group to Lan Qiren, who was talking with Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen, and explained what happened. As expected he got his punishment and was finally sent back home but before being walked to the entrance of cloud recess by some of the Lan disciples he shouted some angry nonsense. After that Lan Qiren dismissed the three and continued to talk to his nephews.
Outside Wen Qing dismissed herself to the two guys as she knew her brother would be safe with them if she knew what they would be doing in a few hours she wouldn't have trusted them as she was very protective of her baby brother. Arriving back at their shared room Jiang Cheng saw Wen Ning and Nie Huiasang engaged in a wholesome conversation and Jin Zixuan, who was there due to a lost bet, standing awkwardly in a corner of their room. Wei Wuxian sat down next to Wen Ning and removed the jars of emperor's smile from under his bed and placed them on top of the table in front of the bed. After a while, Wei Wuxian got everyone in the room to drink with him, even Jin Zixuan.
After a while, everyone was drunk except for Jiang Cheng, who was only a bit intoxicated, and Wei Wuxian, who was almost sober. But suddenly the door opened with Lan Wangji, almost looking mad, standing there to disturb their party because it was already past their bedtime. Somehow Wei Wuxian got Lan Zhan to sit down and drink some "water" with him. Of course, it wasn't water but some emperor's smile. Lan Zhan immediately got drunk, which one could see by looking at his reddish ears and fell asleep.
A few minutes later he woke up again and what he saw baffled him even though he was really drunk Nie Huiasang snore off in some corner of the room, in another corner Jin Zixuan sat, still being really drunk, crying out loud confessing about his undying love for Jiang Yanli but being too shy to confess. Wen Ning and Jiang Cheng making out kind of aggressively in a darker spot in the room while mumbling cheesy but adorable things towards each other while blushing heavily and Wei Wuxian, his love, sitting next to him and laughing whole heartily at the scene before them.
Lan Zhan being drunk as hell decided to confess to his love. Wei Wuxian being completely absent, being too engaged in his thoughts didn't get what was Lan Zhan trying to tell him at first but as soon as the other leaned in he understood what was about to happen and also leaned in to kiss him. After a few passionate kisses between Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian both decided to finally go to bed as it was really late.
It would probably be funny when everyone woke up in the morning and remembers what has happened the night before plus a big punishment would probably await them too as they broke a couple of the gusu lan sect rules, but it was worth it was what Wei Wuxian thought before falling asleep.
