Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

It had been a few days since Dean beat up his father. During that time he rarely came home.

Dean didn't tell Camille about it, knowing she was stressed out with her grades and her grandmother and mother as well. He figured she had enough to worry about.

Though that part of Dean's life was a dampener, when his father wasn't around, he had a happy home life, his mother wasn't neglecting towards him and his sister. They made lots of good memories when his father wasn't there.

That was Dean's passion, his passion and desire to provide a better life for his sister and his mother. He did have an older brother, but his brother had taken off as fast as he could to get away from their father, and since then they rarely heard from him.

Camille walked into the school doors after being dropped off. She wore leggings and a blouse, gold jewelry and light makeup. Her hair which was dark brown was pulled back into a low ponytail.

~Another day~ She thought.

She stood against the wall in the hallway waiting for Dean to arrive.

He had just thrown on a T-shirt, jeans, and his white air forces, he grabbed a jacket just in case it rained or got cold.

He met Camille and they walked in the hallway to her first period class.

"I'll see you later, okay."

He kissed her goodbye and watched as she walked into the room. Soon after heading to his own.

School went by as a blur, all of the seniors felt that way, the day didn't consist of much as they were nearly done with school and all they had to do was prepare for their finals.

Camille and Dean had a study date after school and she was going over to his house. She loved his mom, wishing so much her mother could be that way towards her too.

His mom made cookies and left them in the living room.

Halfway through Camille sighed and then leaned on his shoulder.

"It's too much, I can't do it."

Camille was working very hard to become number one in her graduating class. Part of it was her own want to have that achievement and the other part was the fear that her mother wouldn't accept less from her.

Dean smiled, putting his arm around her.

"Well you're so smart, I know you can do it, you know you can do it, I don't think you'll have any problems on the finals.. and if you feel like you will that's why we're studying to make sure that doesn't happen."

"I know, I just can't help it, I have to be valedictorian, and it's just crazy to me that schools is almost finished for good, but hey, what about you, you're working to be number two right."

Dean nodded. "Profusely."

On the outside Dean and Camille's relationship didn't seem very loving, but they did love each other very much, they weren't all over each other because they had already been dating for so long. It had been nearly six years. From 12- to the current 18.

They both hoped it would stay that way, that they'd always be together.

When Camille got home it was the same routine.

Her mother checked her phone and then gave it back to her, she talked to her grandmother and then stayed in her room until dinner.

She came downstairs and ate across from her mother, it was silent and awkward.

"You know, you strike me as so ungrateful, I do all the things I do for you, I work a hard job that pays high because I have to provide for you, not to mention my other job may as well be taking care of your grandmother, the least you could do is speak to me."

Camille dropped her fork and then looked up at her mom.

"Mother, you want me to speak to you, but when I speak you become annoyed, or you'll tell me what I'm talking about is useless, now I try my best to live up to all the insanely high expectations you set for me, I try to be the best daughter I can be, I don't rebell I get wonderful grades, I care about my future and I care about my family, but you have never allowed me the opportunity to show you my love, you have always pushed me away, and I will never understand because I never did anything but love you."

She got up and left for her room.

Her mother sat in silence staring at the now silent chair. It wasn't long before she threw both their plates away and then went to her own bedroom.

Camille lay on her bed staring up at the ceiling, for a moment everything felt so empty. She was a smart girl and she wondered sometimes if she suffered from depression. The only times she was happy was when she was with Dean, so much so that she was always afraid to leave without him.

School would be ending in three weeks, and an end would come in three weeks.
