I finished straightening out my clothes, wrapping the cardigan over my shoulders. Behind me, Death got out of the pod, looking quite contented with himself.
Typical male.
I rolled my eyes and was about to exit the passenger car when Death offered his hand.
"Aren't you gentlemanly now?" I gasped dramatically, placing a hand on my chest.
Death raised an eyebrow. "I'm always gentlemanly. What do you mean?"
I chuckled as I took his hand, stepping out of the gondola.
As soon as my shoes' heels were flatly on the ground, the Ferris wheel behind me disappeared. Actually, every attraction, sound, people, and all other things associated with the theme park surrounding them disintegrated into dust.
This only meant one thing: We were already heading to the next memory.
"Evangeline?" Death called my name, standing beside me. "Are you ready?"
I looked at him, nodding.
