"Uhhh..." For a moment, Dante hesitated, unsure how to react to Evangeline's invitation. After a full minute, he responded with a confused, "Okay?"
Beside me, Death shared the same confusion as Dante.
"Since when did you like motor street racing?" Death asked, raising an eyebrow in disbelief.
"I never did," I admitted, chuckling at how bewildered Death was. However, I stopped mid-cackle upon seeing the next scene of my memory: Evangeline of the past jumped for joy, wrapping her arms around Dante. But after three seconds of hugging him, she realized what she had done and pulled away.
I darted my gaze at Death and he had the usual unreadable expression that he wore on his face. But judging from his eyes, I could tell that he was blazing in jealousy.
"Why'd you stop?" Dante smirked.
She swatted him on the arm, a blush painting her cheeks.
Death's mood worsened, and I started panicking.
