After a few drinks, Kenzie Brooks realized she had been stood up. She paid her tab, and left the restraunt bar, walking down the stairs leading out to the beach. She would sit with her toes in the sand and enjoy listening to the band's music, and try to forget the misfortune of her evening. She couldn't get the thoughts out of her head however that her date walked in and saw her, didn't like what he saw and left.
Kenzie was a very pretty girl. Long brown hair, beautiful green eyes, and a perfect figure with just the right amount of curves in all the right places. Her confidience was lacking though as when she was younger she was overweight. She spent her college years slimming down, getting into shape, and working hard to have the beautiful figure she does now, but it never failed when she looked in the mirror she would still see the obeese child everyone made fun of in school. She was fresh from college now, moved to a new city, and was trying to start next chapter as the new and improved Kenzie.
As her toes sinked deeper into the sand she leaned back letting out a sigh and bumping into a passerby. He was handsome. Walking along the beach in trunks and a Hawaiin print shirt that was only halfway button up she could see his chiseled chest peaking through. He wore dark sunglasses, and his lips looked succlent. His hair matched the color of the sand and his tanned body was definitely maintained well. He had been walking his dog and texting and apparently didn't see her either. She blushed in embarrassment and from his handsomeness.
"Sorry, I didn't see you, are you OK?" He asked,
Didn't see me? Story of my life. Kenzie thought. "Fine, thanks." She figured he would go on his way, but then the adorable dog planted a large kiss on her face knoking her down into the sand.
"Sandy Bay!" He exclaimed! "Bad girl! Not everyone wants your kisses!"
Kenzie was an animal lover. She didn't mind the kisses. She did mind the mouthful of sand she got when pushed on the ground. "It's OK. She seems really sweet."
"She is still a pup. She can get excited." He said. At that moment his phone started to ring. He looked down at the caller ID and was not happy. "I'm sorry, I need to take this. Have a good night." He started to walk briskly down the beach as if he couldn't get away from her fast enough.
Kenzie waved as she watched him walk off talking on his phone. It seemed to be a bit of a heated discussion. She felt a bit of disappointment inside. For a brief moment she thought just maybe her night wouldn't be a waste and she was actually going to meet someone. Since moving to Charleston 3 months ago, she hadn't made very many friends and definitely had not had any luck in the dating department. She longed for a companion. Somone she could share her life with, but could she ever really get close to anyone with past?
