Chapter 107 - CHAPTER 107: A Hysterical Ambush In Every Detail

It had to be said that Trunks really knew his way around this area. He was like another magical creature when he was on the back of his Manticore. He had extraordinary abilities to begin with, and when you added the help of the manticore and his general knowledge of the entire terrain, he was an expert in every sense of the word.

If it hadn't been for the supervision of Han Shuo's original demons, the group wouldn't have known how to deal with Trunks' attacks. They would surely have suffered serious casualties in the dark of the night. After all, none of the seven adventurers present, including Han Shuo, would be able to withstand many of Trunks' attacks if they fought him alone.

However, with complete end-to-end surveillance by the original demons, all that had changed. Originally the hunter, Trunks might become someone else's prey for the first time.

"He's coming." Han Shuo, who shared the same tent with Odysseus, suddenly opened his mouth.

Odysseus didn't show too much curiosity about Han Shuo's remarkable perception. Only after hearing Han Shuo's words did he tighten his grip on the long sword in his hand and stare at him, "How are we going to handle this?"

"Don't worry, Trunks is watching us right now. Let's take action when he makes his move." Han Shuo closed his eyes, crossed his legs and opened his mouth to explain.

Trunks was as agile as a monkey on several trees surrounding the area. He used the pliable branches to pile up boulders between several trees and didn't make a sound. No one would have noticed him in the darkness.

There was still some distance between the Manticore and the camp. Now it slowly circled the tents. It was a very patient hunter, just like Trunks.

Trunks slowly landed on a tree above the tents of Han Shuo and the others. He looked down coldly at the tents below, as if debating what to do next.

He held a few small stones in his hands and sent two of them flying towards the tents, landing softly in the nearby bushes with a slight thud. Several startled shouts rang out from the tents as Han Shuo and Odysseus abruptly stepped out of the tents to investigate the area where Trunks had created a disturbance with the small stones.

At the same time, the Manticore made a deliberate noise from the other side. Gordon and another swordsman looked at each other and headed towards the manticore as they left their tents. The two mages and the archer stayed where they were, watching the surroundings with alert eyes and guarding the area to provide support for the others.

Just as Han Shuo and Odysseus had arrived where the stones had made the noise, and Gordon had also left with the other swordsman, Trunks suddenly used a flexible branch to swing over towards Gordon and the two others. It looked like he wanted to take care of Gordon and the other two first.

"Let's go." Han Shuo said quietly and circled around with Odysseus, approaching Trunks from another direction.

Gordon and the others walked slowly, their eyes full of caution as they constantly patrolled and searched the bushes around them. The manticore lurked in the bushes ten metres from them, ready to attack without warning as soon as the pair approached.

Trunks used the branches to swing back and forth, magically making no sound and showing no part of himself. He slowly approached Gordon and the other, quickly appearing above their heads.

A crossbow suddenly rang out at that moment. It was all the more deafening in the middle of the night. Swinging between the branches, Trunks suddenly discovered that the crossbow was aimed at him, and was incredibly surprised and shocked.

He had no support for his feet as he swung back and forth, and could only twist his body to land on the ground in resignation. At the same time, the two mages and the archer, who should have been standing guard near the tents, suddenly and miraculously appeared, a water dragon, a bolt of lightning and three arrows flying in his direction.

Halfway through the air, Trunks had no way of stopping his body from falling. He struggled to defend himself as a snow-white aura flared from his broadsword, but in his haste, it was obvious that Trunks had taken a few hits. Though he was able to cut Nia's three arrows in half, he was struck by the lightning bolt and took the water dragon in the chest. With a low grunt, he fell into the thick growth of shrubs.

"Third tree on the left and five paces ahead, attack!" Han Shuo suddenly shouted calmly.

Several rounds of attacks were fired, targeting the newly landed trunks. Several rounds of attacks landed abruptly after Han Shuo's soft exclamation. This time, Trunks was able to dodge the attacks of the two mages, but a random shot from the completely invisible Nia happened to pierce Trunks' bottom.

Suddenly, there was a painful scream, as Trunks obviously hadn't found his bearings yet. He changed direction after the scream and tried to attack them from another side, but Han Shuo continued to call out his location and the others sent their attacks crashing down, miraculously always where Trunks was.

"What's going on?" Suffering from the barrage of attacks, Trunks had never been more depressed in his life than he was today and finally could not help but curse.

Trunks had always been extremely confident in his ability to hide his movements and ambush others. He'd never felt that anyone could see through his movements in the Dark Forest. But now, for the first time, when he faced a group of mediocre adventurers, he felt worse for wear. No matter how he shifted and dodged, he was still getting hit, and after a while he'd started to suffer from not-so-light injuries.

The manticore that had been lying in wait finally couldn't contain its impatience when it saw that its master's method didn't seem to be working. The manticore sent bushes and grass flying as it ran, and a tree as thick as a man's waist fell with a thud as its sharp claws slashed down. Its presence and speed were astonishing.

"The manticore is coming, attack!" Odysseus shouted as the three swordsmen suddenly spread out, blocking the manticore's path forward.

Some of the attacks that had been aimed at Trunks all along now split up and changed their target to the manticore that was charging at full speed. Except that the Manticore was tough and its speed was lightning fast. All of the group's attacks fell flat, with only Nia's arrows connecting with the manticore, but not causing much damage.

At that moment, a cold-faced Han Shuo began to manipulate the Demonslayer's Edge according to the Law of Refining Magical Treasures. A beam of purple light suddenly shot out, drawing a beautiful arc through the empty air of the night sky. It suddenly pierced the manticore's back. As a level one magical creature, the Manticore sensed the approaching danger, and then swiftly dodged the Demonslayer Edge's first attack.

At the same time, Trunks appeared from the distance, limping and staggering. He raised his broadsword in fury and approached the two mages and Nia, attempting to combine his efforts with the Manticore's power and kill everyone present without any reservations.

"Ignore the manticore, focus your attacks on Trunks." Han Shuo suddenly shouted, causing the two mages and Nia to abruptly change direction and continue attacking the rapidly approaching Trunks.

Of Odysseus and the two swordsmen, Gordon was sent to Nia's side as the remaining two rushed towards the manticore and began to attack it with combat aura. As Odysseus approached the manticore, the Battle Aura he'd built up was destroyed by a slash of the manticore's claws. Odysseus himself was sent flying into the distance. The other swordsman seized the opportunity to stab the manticore, but he left only a small cut on the manticore, instead enraging it even more.

The enraged manticore raised its claws and tried to crush the swordsman near it to death. At that moment, the purple light that had briefly disappeared suddenly reappeared, stinging the manticore's tail.

Sensing danger, the manticore leapt forward. The swordsman closest to it barely managed to hang on for dear life, but even though the manticore had dodged in time, the Demonslayer's Edge had already sliced through its back, sending the icy Mystical Spellfire into the manticore's body.

Madly, furious roars suddenly erupted from the manticore's mouth. Since Han Shuo was manipulating the Demonslayer Edge, he could feel its wrath. He immediately focused all his attention on manipulating the Demonslayer Edge, trying to kill it right there.

"Damn you, you dare to hurt my companion!" The limping Trunks had an arrow sticking out of his bum. He was dripping wet from the water dragon's attack on his chest. Because he'd also been electrocuted, part of his hair was burned off and his original bearings were completely gone. Blood was also dripping from his mouth. He looked completely filthy.

"I'll even hurt you, much less than your pet." Han Shuo said after snickering coldly, the Demonslayer's Edge still hanging stubbornly from the Manticore's back.

A shrill whistle suddenly sounded from Trunks' mouth. Hearing the whistle, the manticore retreated immediately and ran off into the distance. Trunks looked hatefully at the assembled crowd after his shrill whistle and quickly fled in the opposite direction of the manticore.

"You stay where you are, I'll go after him." You had to take someone's life when they were down. Trunks was obviously badly injured and Han Shuo naturally knew how to take advantage of an opportunity. When he saw Odysseus, who had been sent flying by the manticore, crawling up from the ground and spitting blood without any danger to his life, he immediately chased in the direction Trunks had fled.
