Chapter 53 - CHAPTER 52: Wolf Riders Invade

Han Shuo had been talking to Fanny when he heard the voices from outside and immediately shouted, "Master Fanny, let's hurry and meet them!"

Fanny didn't mince words and rushed to the door of Han Shuo's room as soon as she heard his voice. After Fanny had left, Han Shuo haphazardly threw off the bathrobe that had been wrapped around his body and quickly put on his clothes. He carefully put away the iron needles, dagger, crossbow and medicine bottles he'd bought over the past few days and finally left the room.

The main street was filled with the shuffling bodies of adventurers and the shouting voices of merchants. These people had been drinking in their hotels or amusing themselves in places of temptation, but they had all left their rooms as soon as they heard the news of the Wolf Riders' invasion and rushed out onto the main road.

Adventurers and mercenaries all lived their lives on the edge, on the razor's edge, so they were long used to such dangers. As they left their rooms, they all methodically organised their weapons and armour and gathered on the south street according to the origin of the voices.

Han Shuo walked out of the room and noticed that even the hotel owner had grabbed a longsword as he walked back to the hotel's reception. The owner was standing in front of the door with a grim expression on his face. It seemed that the people of Drol were indeed fierce and brave.

Fanny and the others were all standing at the door. All the students hurriedly placed their belongings in the room and rushed out. After the adventure in the Dark Forest, these young mages had learnt to be calm and self-confident and didn't cry out in panic.

"Bryan, hurry and come here. We need to get to the southern road immediately. Since the orc wolf riders dare to invade the Imperial city of Drol, we can't let them succeed!" Lisa immediately raised her hand and shouted as soon as she saw Han Shuo appear, as if she was scared to death that Han Shuo wouldn't be able to see her.

Aside from Fanny and the others outside the hotel doors, a few other adventurers and mercenaries had also formed into groups of three to five people. The necromancy students continued to leave their rooms. Each of them was armed to the teeth and bristling with weapons. Fanny counted the heads shortly after Han Shuo had made his way to Lisa's side. When she discovered that they were all accounted for, she immediately shouted, "Follow me to South Street and don't get separated.

Han Shuo followed Fanny down a main street crowded with figures, arriving at South Street shortly after. When they arrived, Han Shuo saw that nearly a hundred adventurers and mercenaries were nearby. The old mage, Felix, and the female elf, Blanche, whom Han Shuo had seen the last time, were also there. Judging from the way things looked, They were acting as leaders. Felix floated in the air and shouted something.

"Eh, that old mage can float in the air using levitation magic. It looks like he must be at least Archmage level." Gene exclaimed in shock after they'd arrived and started to explain to the students. "When a mage trains to a certain level, he/she will be able to use levitation magic to fly. However, only mages who've reached the Archmage level can cast levitation magic. Therefore, mages who can fly are all undoubtedly noble and extremely powerful characters".

"Brave warriors of the Empire, the wolf riders of the orcs are moving towards the city of Drol. According to my observations, the wolf riders are moving in a formation of five hundred. As a stronghold of the Empire, our town of Drol has zero tolerance for being trampled on by these savages. Warriors, raise your weapons and give them a taste of the wrath of the Empire's warriors! Felix hovered in the air, clutching an exquisite sapphire-studded wand in his right hand, and spoke loudly to raise morale.

"Eh, aren't these the people from Necromancy Major? Heh heh, nice to meet you here." Beacher's voice suddenly sounded from the side at that moment. Han Shuo turned his head to see that the Light Major students had all turned their eyes in that direction.

"Hello Master Beacher, to think that we would meet you here. I trust you have reaped rich rewards from this time?" Gene nodded and smiled in greeting before asking his questions.

"Not much, no great rewards, just that the students have really improved." Beacher replied weakly with a smile.

Dull, thumping noises could be heard in the distance, coming from the south. Under the direction of Felix and Blanche, the warriors had long since armed themselves and were bristling with weapons as they stood at the front. Mages, archers and priests stood in the rear, five or six metres from the warriors. They had taken up their staff and gazed intently to the south with grave expressions on their faces.

Seeing that everyone had taken up their positions, Beacher and Gene wasted no time in continuing their idle chatter, instead moving to stand with the mages. Although Han Shuo's body had improved greatly, he wasn't foolish enough to stand up front and draw attention to himself. He also followed Fanny and stood with the mages.

As soon as everyone had taken up their positions according to their profession, dull, thumping sounds like muffled drums rang out in the hearts of the assembled people. A concentrated, heavy feeling of powerful aura slowly found its way into everyone's hearts. The orc wolf riders slowly materialised out of the cloud of dust and into everyone's sight.

A deadly aura immediately enveloped the entire city of Drol. The wolf riders charged forward as soon as they appeared, accompanied by piercing howls and screams. . The long swords in their hands flashed with cold light, and the powerful aura of five hundred wolf riders charging in unison immediately gave others a strong sense of oppression.

"Mages ready, unleash your magic on my command!" Felix was relatively calm as he hovered in the air, looking down at the wolf riders. He only spoke calmly when the wolf riders had actually begun to charge.

"Everyone be careful! Don't let anything happen to you." Fanny was also a little nervous at this moment and she turned to give a few reminders to the students standing next to her. Just as Fanny was about to remind Han Shuo, she suddenly discovered that there was a kind of numbing, cold severity in his eyes, set in a face of calm. There was no panic at all. He held a sharp dagger in his hand, and a cold aura slowly began to emanate from the dagger.

Noticing Fanny's gaze, Han Shuo's concentration broke and the bone-crushing, icy cold aura that he had imbued into the dagger as a result of channeling the magical yuan in his left hand into the dagger after activating the Mystic Glacial Spellfire suddenly vanished without a trace.

"Is something wrong Master Fanny?" Han Shuo looked at Fanny and asked with an honest smile on his face once again.

"No, nothing. Just be careful!" Fanny looked at Han Shuo and replied in a somewhat strange tone.

At that moment, Fanny had finally realised that the honest, stupid smile on Han Shuo's face was just a disguise. The calm and composure he had in the face of danger was most likely Han Shuo's true state.

Damn it, you lied to everyone. I'm going to make you pay for this sooner or later. Fanny thought fiercely in her heart on the one hand, and secretly assessed Han Shuo on the other, suddenly feeling that the calm and serious Han Shuo had a completely different quality to him.
