Chapter 73 - Chapter Seventy-One: The Start of Classes

AN: Quick note here just want to give out a major shout out to niznet. They have given me power stones pretty much daily and now they are my first ever patron in patreon. There's no words to how thankful I am truly.

Also this is going to be a shorter chapter today, honestly not feeling well on the day or writing, hopefully I get some energy back for tomorrow.

Homeroom went by quickly, and Professor Azora gave a quick rundown of how the schedule works and some of the events coming up at the beginning of the year.

In short, there are five classes every day; however, certain classes change daily in a weekly schedule. For instance, today being Monday, Alex had history class, study hall, potion making, mathematics, and combat class.

Azora also talked about the first exam, which would end up expelling more of the new first-year students who showed little progress in their growth.

Alex, however, had a bit before having to think about that; instead, after homeroom, he walked to where his history class was supposed to be.

He walked in and saw Claire sitting in the room.

Claire's eyes shined seeing Alex in the same class as her; after all, this helps the plan, and more importantly, she gets to spend more time with him.

"Hey Alex, sit next to me!" Claire said watching him walk through the door.

"Alright." Alex simply responded.

Alex sat down next to Claire before the teacher arrived and could hear rumors throughout the class.

"That's him, the guy that the princess asked to be hers."

"That's not what she said, idiot; she wanted to train him."

"I mean, c'mon now, there's a chance after all; what girl storms into a class room and makes such demands if it isn't deeper than that?"

"You have a point..."

Claire turned her head towards Alex, hearing the same murmurs as he was.

"Alex....what are they talking about?" Claire asked him.

Claire had a sinister smile on her face, which Alex noticed.

"Well, the first princess kind of stopped by my homeroom and demanded that I drop Freya as my teacher and instead learn from her." Alex explained.

"..." Claire was speechless, but there were over a thousand words flying through her mind.

To summarize, she basically thought, "How dare that bitch!? but that's putting it lightly.

Despite Claire's now-hostile thoughts about the princess, the teacher quickly arrived in the classroom. She stood at the center podium and began her speech.

"Welcome Class, My name is Professor Clara Eberle, and today we will be learning about something easy to ease you into the curriculum. Don't expect every day to be like this; it's a one-time thing. Today we will be learning about some of the royal family's history. Over a thousand years ago, the empire we so graciously love today was not as peaceful as it is now. Four princes fought a civil war against each other for the right to their dying father's throne in a small kingdom. After six years of fighting, there was one prince left standing. King Lucius Arnor Waltz rose to become king of the small kingdom; however, he hadn't quenched the fires of rebellion, and his goal for the rest of his life was to make his kingdom peaceful once more. His son, King Olivert Arnor Waltz, would follow in his father's footsteps and, for his entire life, keep the peace of the kingdom, but his firstborn son had different ideas. King Markus Waltz dropped the Arnor name from his bloodline and set out on a new ambition: to expand his kingdom. Over three generations of kings with similar mindsets, they created about sixty percent of the land our current empire possesses. Eventually, King Elias Waltz changed the country entirely from being the Lycian Kingdom to the Lycian Empire. He and his sons and grandsons continued the ever-continuing expansion of the empire. That leads us to where we are now: Emperor Giliath Waltz with his heir Arthur Waltz, who is a fifth-year student at Kearis Royal Academy..."

Alex closed his fists in anger upon hearing his name; after all, he was his destined enemy.

"There is also Second Prince Spencer Waltz, who is also attending the Kearis Royal Academy, along with Third Prince Elliott Waltz here in the capital. Then our very own student, First Princess Seraphina Waltz, who we are proud to have representing our academy, and finally Second Princess Fiona Waltz, who attends the Iris Girls Academy also located here in the capital, will be competing at this year's Grand Academy Tournament, and for the first time ever, first-year students will be allowed to compete, as long as they impress enough this year."

That last sentence got the class talking.

The Grand Academy Tournament is a tournament held every year where students from years one to three compete in a tournament structure with over two hundred and fifty competing students. There is also a second tournament held for the fourth and fifth-year students, but that is more exclusive to them.

"Interesting..." Alex thought to himself.

He had a lot to look forward to in the future, especially because he had a feeling the "hero" would be watching the tournament later this year.

"This year is going to be interesting..." Alex thought to himself with a smile on his face.

"What is he smiling about?" Claire asked herself.
