Chapter 2 - The journey begins

Lana lay on her bed, tossing and turning in a terrible nightmare. She was engulfed in a sea of terror, her heart pounding as she tried to escape the darkness that seemed to close in on her. She could feel her own fear and the fear of the unknown. It seemed like a tangible force trying to swallow her up and take her away from her bed. The dream seemed to go on forever, but eventually she opened her eyes to admit that she was still enduring the effects of the dream she had. She felt there was something important to remember, but it had eluded her. She ignored it and got up to begin her day.

She quickly woke up, washed her face and couldn't help but smile at what Abigal had told her yesterday.

***Yesterday***

When she was left there alone waiting for Abigail who had a critical task, Lana couldn`t help but admire Abigail`s house. It was not as big as her parents' estate, but it definitely felt like home. Compared to her room, the dark walls and unopened windows. The heavy and tense air made things worse. At least it gave her a feeling she had never experienced before.

Abigail's house was a place of peace, unlike her own. Lana was grateful for her. A long stay at that place would trouble Abigail. She decided to leave before returning. Lana left a note of gratitude before walking away.

Just as Lana was about to leave, Abigail returned.

"Are you leaving Lana? " Abigail said in a sad tone. Lana stopped in her tracks and looked back at Abigail. "Yes, I was just about to," she said softly. " I apologize, I didn't mean to upset you."

Come let's talk. I have something to say. Abigail said.

"I lost my parents while I was still young. They both died in an ACR accident. I'm fine now, not to worry," said Abigail. " It took me years to come to terms with the fact. I know we sometimes feel sad and useless, but that's okay, we're humans. i just wanted to tell you that im sorry for the trouble i put you through yesterday but i would wish to be a friend that accompanies you in times like these."

"My house is small, but I am sure that I would share it, my parents taught me to give even the smallest things to those who are struggling. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, stay and let's eat some ice cream - it'll make us feel better! Hahaha atleast we can try to think what to do after the sweet moment. "Abigail joked to ease the tension inside and lift the mood.

Those words weren't just normal words for Lana. It never occurred to her that she would receive such a sweet gift. she hoped for the best and let things flow through. She felt like all her worries had melted away as she embraced the moment of joy and appreciation. She decided to take this newfound strength and use it to make her dreams come true.

***back in time**

Lana has had a flashlight since that moment. She loved the feeling and here she was letting the river flow through.

Days pass by and them have become best friends. Lana applied to Abigail`s university and found a job. She makes desserts and loves it. Lana's life has changed since that day. She's happy and content with her life. She's found a purpose and she loves it! Without knowing karma had just a different plan.

Lana's POV

"Abigail, I'll head to university first. See you later! " i said while hurrying since i was running late.

"Huh, you're not gonna leave at the same time as me? Abigail asked.

"No, I won't I have early lessons today so I need to be there before time. " I said.

"Alright, see you later then. " Abigail smiled and waved goodbye as I walked away.

I was walking to university, lost in my thoughts about the upcoming exams, when I felt a strong grip on my arm. Before I could even scream, a cloth was pressed against my nose and mouth, and I felt a sharp sting in my neck. The world around me started to spin, and I felt myself being lifted off the ground. I tried to fight back, but my limbs were heavy and unresponsive. As I drifted into unconsciousness, i heard a sinister voice whisper in my ear, "You're coming with me, my dear."

** a few hours later **

" It's dark here. Where am I? Should I shout to see if there's anyone here or should I pretend to be unconscious? " She opened her eyes and saw that she was in a small, damp room. She looked around, but all she could see was a faint light in the corner.

She realized she was held captive. A chill ran down her spine and she knew she had to find a way out. She cautiously moved around the room, feeling for any sign of an exit. Suddenly, she heard a sound outside the door. She quickly scrambled to the corner, hoping to remain hidden. She held her breath, listening intently as footsteps approached. A key jingled in the lock and the door opened.

She could feel her heart pounding as someone entered the room. She could make out the figure of a man, entering the room and slowly moving towards her. She clutched her fists as he approached, her heart pounding in her chest. He stopped in front of her, a sinister smile on his face.

His eyes glinted as he leaned closer, his breath hot on her face. She could barely move, fear and dread engulfing her. He reached out, grabbing her arm tightly.

Your awake, the man said.

His voice sounded cold and hollow, like a chill wind blowing through a graveyard.

I felt a chill run down my spine as he spoke, and suddenly the night seemed darker and more menacing. I was certain that something terrible was about to happen, and the fact that I was kidnapped filled me with dread. I tried to back away, but his icy voice pulled me in and keep me rooted to the spot. I stood there, frozen in fear, not knowing what would come next.

He stared at me with eyes that looked through me. His voice took a sinister tone as he said, "If you don't comply...there will be consequences." He turned and called two muscular men and said, "take her to the dark room."

"The dark room, is a space where people are usually taken to be interrogated, threatened, or tortured."

i was scared and shaking. The two men came up to me and grabbed my arms while taking me away.

I am familiar with this term. Where did I come across it? Trying to recall the term, I remembered hearing my father tell his bodyguards to wait for him in the dark room. Back then I didn't understand the term as I was still young.

i was shocked to say anything. My mind was spinning trying to digest what I just figured.

Is this what my dad does for a living? I said in a sad and hopeless tone.
