Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Awakening, Family and Gatcha

As Alex slowly regained consciousness, he found himself lying in an unfamiliar apartment. Confusion enveloped his mind as he struggled to piece together his surroundings. Images of the mysterious woman on the throne flooded his thoughts, but they felt distant and ethereal, almost like a fading dream.

Shaking off the remnants of grogginess, Alex jerked awake from his bed, his heart pounding with a mix of fear and curiosity. He glanced around, his eyes darting from corner to corner, trying to make sense of his new surroundings.

The apartment seemed ordinary, with neutral-colored walls and furniture that bore no resemblance to the familiar comforts of his previous life.

His mind racing, Alex stumbled into the bathroom, hoping that the cool water splashing against his face would help anchor him in reality. But as he glanced into the mirror, his own reflection staring back at him, he froze. The face that looked back was not his own.

He felt like his head was being piercing, he let out a scream that pierced the silence of the apartment, his voice betraying his shock and disbelief. He staggered backward, grasping the basin for support, his mind reeling with the new fragmented memories that started to emerge on its own. It was then that a searing pain tore through his head, intensifying with each passing moment, overwhelming his senses.

The commotion attracted the attention of the other occupants of the apartment. An elderly woman, around 70 years old, and a young girl, around 16 to 18 years old, rushed into the room, concern etched across their faces. They hurriedly approached Alex, their voices filled with worry.

"What happened? Are you okay?" the old woman asked, her voice laced with concern.

The young girl knelt down beside Alex, her eyes searching his face. "Can you hear us? What's wrong?"

Alex struggled to respond, his head throbbing with an intensity he had never experienced before. Every sound, every movement seemed amplified, exacerbating his disorientation. He managed to mutter, "I... I don't know... Something's wrong..."

"W-what iss happ- ing to me?" Alex asked though he was in pain. Alex was a soldier, Pain is an old friend for him. But even for him this was too much to take.

The old woman and the young girl became worried by his questions. Then old woman hurriedly fetched a glass of water while the young girl stayed by Alex's side, offering comfort and support.

As Alex sipped the water, the pain gradually subsided, replaced by a sense of fatigue. Overwhelmed, he sank back onto the bed, his body feeling heavy and weak.

Hours later, Alex woke up in an unfamiliar room.

He slowly sat up on his bed, rubbing his eyes as he adjusted to the morning light filtering through the curtains.

The headache had dissipated, replaced by a lingering sensation of disorientation.

He glanced around "This room is pretty small, to be honest." he thought as he viewed the layout of the room. He was was feeling tired like he had finished running 100 laps, so he just went to sleep.

As he was looking around, a woman entered his, her appearance strikingly resembling Scarlett Johansson a young one not the current one. She appeared fatigued, her expression filled with concern.

Realizing that she must have been attending to him after his sudden scream last night, Alex felt a surge of gratitude mixed with confusion. His new memories were still fragmentary, but he could sense a deep care for this young woman who seemed to be his sister. There was a bond between them, a sibling connection that he hadn't experienced in his previous life.

Summoning his courage, Alex decided to address her. "Hey sis," he called out, his voice slightly hesitant.

The young woman visibly stiffened at the words, her eyes widening in surprise. Alex noticed her reaction, but he chose to set it aside for now, realizing that there would be time to explore their relationship further. Right now, his immediate need was to quench his thirst.

"Can I get some water?" he asked, his voice revealing his parched throat.

Nodding silently, the young lady quickly retrieved a glass of water and handed it to Alex. He gratefully accepted it, feeling the cool liquid flow down his throat, instantly refreshing him. As he drank, he couldn't help but observe the young woman, noting her exhaustion and the worry etched on her face.

Setting the glass aside, Alex looked up at her and smiled. "Thank you. I feel much better now," he said, his voice filled with genuine gratitude.

The young lady approached him cautiously, concern still evident in her eyes. "Are you sure you're okay? What happened last night?" she inquired, her voice laced with worry. "Should we take you to the hospital?"

Alex shook his head gently, wanting to reassure her. "No, I'm fine, really. I just need a little rest to gather my thoughts," he replied, his voice calm but resolute. "I'll be okay."

Sensing his determination, the young lady nodded, though a hint of worry lingered in her gaze. "Alright," she conceded reluctantly. "But promise me you'll let me know if you need anything or if something feels wrong."

"I promise," Alex affirmed, a sincere expression on his face. "Thank you for taking care of me."

She gave him a small, tired smile, appreciating his words. "Of course. Family looks out for each other," she replied softly before turning to leave the room.

Alex, the 40 year old killing machine in his previous life was feeling happy. Happy like 6 year old kid just got their favorite toy after crying for the whole. But he had the right to feel that way, Alex was an orphan and there was no one to even take care even when he was at his low in his last life.

But now he had one. He thanked that mysterious woman in his heart. It was a bond of family, a relationship he hadn't experienced before, and he was determined to cherish it. He finally felt at ease, so he just lay down and started to through the recent happenings with mysterious woman.

His stomach was started grumbling. He was really hungry.

Alex slowly made his way out of the room, his legs feeling slightly weak and unsteady. He took a deep breath, determined to carry on with his morning routine despite the unfamiliarity of his surroundings. As he walked, he noticed the subtle weakness in his body.

Entering the small bathroom, Alex closed the door behind him and took a moment to look around. The room was neat and tidy, with a clean white sink, a mirror above it, and a small shower stall in the corner.

Walking over to the sink, Alex stared at his reflection in the mirror., his eyes widening in at the reflection that stared back at him. His looks made it sure that he wasn't pranked. The features he saw caused his mouth to set in a wide grin.

His appearance now resembled that of Sun Jinwoo, a character appearance the main protagonist of Solo Levelling, he had wished to get, but there was a twist – the supposed dark black hair had transformed into a striking shade of blonde. "Maybe genetics" he thought.

Additionally, he appeared younger, resembling Sun Jinwoo when he was in his e-rank days. He looked like a 14year old kid but he through the thought of his age behind his head and started to do his morning chores as he was very hungry.

As Alex made his way downstairs, he could hear the faint sounds of clinking dishes and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air.

When Alex entered the kitchen, he found his the old lady bustling around, preparing a simple breakfast. She looked up and smiled warmly at him. "Good morning, Alex. I'm glad you're feeling better. Have a seat; breakfast will be ready in just a few minutes."

Alex took a seat at the small dining table and glanced around the room. It was a cozy space with wooden cabinets, a window that let in the morning sunlight, and family pictures adorning the walls.

Although he couldn't recall the details, he could sense the familiar feeling of home. He could tell that from the photos that it the old lady was his grand mother.

As his grandmother placed a plate of scrambled eggs and toast in front of him, Alex saw his sister make her way to the kitchen from her room. She sat down on the opposite side of him, while his grandmother sat on his right side.

Alex mustered up the courage to speak and to apologize for what happened last night. So he spoke "Sorry, I hope I didn't scare you too much last night. I can't remember everything clearly, but it seems like I fainted or something."

Both of their expression softened.

"It was a little alarming, Alex, but don't worry. You're here now, and that's what matters. Do you remember anything else about what happened?" his grandma spoke while his sister just listened.

Alex shook his head, his brows furrowing slightly. "Not really. It's all a bit hazy. But I appreciate you being here for me. It means a lot."

She reached out and placed her hand gently on his. "Of course, Alex. We're family, and family takes care of each other. We'll figure things out together, alright?"

Alex nodded, a sense of reassurance washing over him. "Alright. Thank you."

They ate breakfast together, as his grand mother and his sister were engaging in light conversation about everyday things—school, hobbies, and other things. Since there were too many gaps in his memory, he just sat sat there silently and listened to their talks.

After they finished eating, his sister cleared the table and turned to Alex. "You mentioned needing some rest earlier. Why don't you take it easy today? If you need anything, just let me know. I'll be here."

Alex nodded appreciatively. "Sounds like a plan. I think I could use a little more rest. Thank you for understanding."

His sister smiled warmly. "Of course, Alex. Take all the time you need. I'll be around if you need anything. Just call out."

With a final reassuring smile, she left the room. Alex also made his way to the room to first check his other wish he had gotten. He also need to do something about the new memories that was in fragments.

So, he tried the basic guide rule that was always need to be done when in a new world. He called out "System, Status?"
