Taya was planning a murder.
"What do you mean 'what's coffee'?" Taya asked, exasperated, this was the third person she's asked about it. This was also the third person who didn't know what it was. Thinking it was some weird object or ability.
"I'm sorry, I've never heard of that. Is it something your ability is able to do?" The person said a little nervously
".....Yeah we'll go with that." Taya replied as the person left. It wasn't just coffee that she couldn't find things like energy drinks and even sodas didn't seem to exist. What kind of messed up dimension doesn't have caffeine?
Getting Isekaied was the worst. If she ever finds the prick who did this… well the police wouldn't find the body. Taya had originally been a fan of such content, but now all she could do was pity them, a world without caffeine was not a world worth living in. So Taya decided I'll just make it myself.
Her attempts had yet to prove successful. Apparently nothing in this world made caffeine. God she missed earth. Where caffeine and science existed. Another thing this world apparently didn't have. On the brightside she had gotten a lead on how to get out of this dimension and perhaps back into her own. Even if she didn't end up on earth so long as there was coffee she would be happy. Which was why she was currently laying in the common room at 11 at night, on a tuesday. She had heard rumors that sometimes there would be a bright flash of light in the middle of the night from the common rooms. It had sounded enough like what had happened to her when she had first been isekai, and at this point she would take anything that might get her some coffee.
The clock hit 11:59 and a blinding light appeared all around the room enveloping Taya. The next thing she knew she was laying on the ground of some unknown place. The first thing she noticed was the pounding in her head. Looking around she noticed a large display of different sweets and several different tables surrounding her. Groaning, she picked herself up slowly rubbing the back of her head a bit.
"Och." she muttered under her breath as she got up on her feet. The next thing she saw brought so much joy she felt like she was going to implode. Coffee genuine honest to god coffee. Was this heaven? It was definitely heaven. Her mouth began to water and a squeal escaped her throat making her sound like a fangirl.
"COFFEE, honest to god coffee." Taya starts staring in awe, "I'll give you my soul for that coffee." she said, staring at the blue haired worker in front of her.
"Right, well I assume you want the largest cup we have, we also have some extra effects we can add, such as hyperactivity, motivation, and energy."
"I'm dead, I'm dead and I went to heaven, yes queen! Give me as much caffeine as possible with how many shots of energy that you can fix into the cup, or that's legal."
"No problem, just don't tell the authorities and we will be fine, you got anything you're willing to trade?"
Taya immediately dug into her pockets looking for anything she had on her. She pulled out some candy wrappers, a few pride flag buttons, some loss change, a vile of … something, and an espeon figurine. She placed them all onto the counter in front of her and waited for a reply.
The person in front of her pointed to the vile, "what's in that."
"Probably a failed attempt to make caffeine, the world I got dropped into last has none and I was planning to commit homicide before I got dropped here."
"I'm sorry you were in a world without what?"
"Yeah, yeah you heard that right."
"You poor bastard, anyway here's your coffee, I'll be taking the figurine, the lesbian pen, and that weird vile. Feel free to drop by whenever, I'll get you set up with a notification system while we're at it." She said handing Taya the coffee before disappearing. She reappeared not long after with a tablet. "Sallow this without chewing and it will fuse with you. Once that has happened it will give you any notifications about places you wish to get updates from. For example if I was to make a new kind of desert it would notify you and give you a description of the desert." She explained handing Taya the tablet.
Taya nodded before shoving it in her mouth, swallowing it dry. "Thanks I'm Taya by the way."
"Jinx" She replied before shoving Taya backwards through the opened portal.
Taya felt herself begin to fall as the blinding light overtook her vision, "Son of a bit--" she was cut off by her body slamming into the couch. "Oof."
She looked over to her hand spotting the coffee that rested in it, "Holy mother of coffee it wasn't a dream." She said aghast. "This is the best day of my life." she surmised, laughing a bit. Giggling like a schoolgirl she picked herself up from her place on the couch and rushed to her lab, she was going to make caffeine even if it ended her.
Taya sucked air in through her teeth as she stared at the materials in front of her and then at the coffee clenched tightly in her hand. For the greater good of her mental health she was going to have to sacrifice some of her holy beverage. Sniffling a little she placed a very small pipette into her coffee and squished lightly getting barely anything into it.
"I'm sorry." she whispered heartbroken as she began to perform a test on the liquid.
