Chapter 8 - Coffee: It's One Hell of a Drug

Ace walked down the long workshop hallway after dinner. He hadn't originally planned to go this way but he caught the smell of coffee he'd never had a chance to try. Well not anytime that he could remember. His parents had insisted that he had gotten into it once when he was little. They had to take him to the hospital because he was hallucinating from it. The doctors had, apparently, been just as confused as his parents were. Since then coffee was also far out of his reach.

He wanted to try it though. Since getting dropped into this world he had made it his mission to find some. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to exist. This led to the second reason he was walking towards the scent of coffee, they might be someone else who got ripped for their dimension and chucked into this one. He came to a stop in front of a door with the name Taya written across the top.

Wasting no time he opened the door to the smell of coffee and two people talking on top of some tables. They noticed him immediately and jumped up from their spot placing the drinks in their hands on the table as they walked toward him. They seemed to be whispering to each other.

"Why are you here?" They asked getting directly to the point.

"I smelt coffee." Ace replied with a shrug of his shoulders.

There was a moment of silence before the guy with black hair broke it, "Damn, how many people got zapped to this school?"

"Too many." The brunette replied, "Anyway what's your name and where are you from."

"I'm Ace, I'm from Ethia,"

"Taya from Earth," The brunette, Taya, said introducing herself.

"Alto from Lilethe," He introduced himself then continued with another question, "How technologically advanced are you?"

"We have cars and virtual reality."

"That's good, we're on the same level," Taya said as she turned to get her coffee.

Ace peered at it enthusiastically, "Can I try some of that?"

"You've never had it?" Alto asked who had moved back on top of the table while Ace wasn't looking.

"Yeah, my parents never let me try it." He'd decided to leave out the part where it had (apparently) given him hallucinations.

"Huh," Taya started, "What a weird thing to forbid." Taya mused while taking a sip of her drink, "You can have some of mine." She offered to hold up the cup for ACe to take.

"Thank you," He took a sip of the drink, then handed it back to Taya, "It's actually pretty good."

"Cool, I'll go make you a cup then," Taya replied, turning around and walking to a make-shift coffee maker.

That was also about the time a dragon with a monocle, tie, and a tiny dog started waving into existence. "Wooooow~" Ace verbalized as he looked up at the giant multicolor dino. "That's a *hic* ierd dog."

Alto stopped drinking his coffee and turned to Taya, "What did you put in that drink?"

"Nothing it's the same as yours?" She replied in a questioning tone looking down at her coffee with furrowed eyebrows and a frown, her nose scrunched up a bit as she took a sip. "It tastes the same as always."

"Hm, could it have something to do with the fact he was banned from it?"

"That makes way too much sense, but what kind of person hallucinates after drinking coffee? It's a stimulant drink, not a hallucinogenic drug."

"This kind apparently, hey Ace"

"Yaas," Ace replied, slurring his words slightly.

"Why did your parents ban you from drinking coffee?"

"Oh that sbecasue apparently I began hallucanet-- hallaoocina-- loocante-- wa shapes go brrr, and the doctor couldn't figure out why."

"Rigghtt," Taya stated frowning out her words a bit, "and where is your room?"

"It's-- it's-- uh its-- No giant dino dragon-- it nuumberrr millwo, wait no, theethusand."

"Okayyy," Alto said concerned, "Well we're going to take you to Taya's room--"

"My room? Why does it have to be my room?"

"Becaause, you're the one who gave him the coffee."

"Ugh fine." she relented, "Right Ace we're gonna go to my room yaay!"

"Yaa- *hic* -aaaaay do da do do do."

Taya and Alto stealthily made their way to Taya's room, well as stealthily as they could with a drugged-up person who kept changing the colors of everything around them.

"I swear Alto if my room ends up being twenty different colors, none of which match, I'm going to kill you and this medical anomaly." Taya hissed.

"Yeah, that's understandable."

"Noo, noh Mr. dino pink does nooot look good with that color. What do you mean I'm color blind!?" Ace shouted as he began trying to fight his way out of Taya's arms. Hitting her in the face.

"You owe me."

"I know."

A few hours later Ace had managed to settle down enough to take a short nap. Taya and Alto had left him to his devices, which in hindsight was a terrible idea and Taya had no idea why she had agreed to it. Ace woke up with a jolt still high as a kite, he wandered down the hallway swaying side to side.

"No dino, you go fight the alkeina yourself!" Ace huffed, crossing his arms. Then he was hit with a bolt of light. "ACk! Mean Mr. dino!!!"

He landed, face first, on the ground of a shop with a harsh thud. Peeling himself off of it he began cursing the universe.

Veda was working the counter on a slow afternoon when a portal opened and spat out a disgruntled being. Who was also very high off some hallucinogenic.

"Hey Jinx," She called, "What do we do with high customers?!"

Jinx popped out from under the counter, "what?"

Veda screamed, "Where did you come from?!"

"I found a new secret passageway."

Veda gave her a disbelieving look.

"Anyway, what did you need?" She asks innocently.

"There is a person cursing at an invisible figure." Veda replied, sighing as she pointed to the multicolored figure pointing at an unknown figure.

"....Just push him back through the portal."

"What?"

"I believe in you~" Jinx encouraged in a sing-song voice as she disappeared into the secret tunnel.

Veda watches the door close in disbelief, "That bitch." sighing she reluctantly walked up to the druggie. "So I just, uhh," Veda paused as she watched him curse randomly then pushed him back into the open portal, "yeah. That'll do it."
