Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

As my eyes opened, I was met by a flash of light so bright that I felt like I was standing in front of The COsmic Light Sources. As it cleared, my eyes met a pair of brilliant brown eyes. Oh, how warm they were, so filled with love and…sadness. At her back stood tall a being who looked humane. I understood immediately that he was my father. Those eyes, full of neutrality but brimming with love and helplessness. He looked handsome beyond any common sense and light energy seemed to converse and emit from his body. His brilliant yellow and flaming red eyes seemed to be full of an unknown energy. Unconcsiously I smiled. Although I had lost all my memories, I could understand where I was. My sixth sense told me that I was in the Dwapar Yug, as Karna, the mighty hero, foreshadowed by tragedy.

"My son, forgive me, this mother of yours is useless and helpless. I am unable to accept you because of this cruel society. It is better you flow with Ganga and find solace in some other place, because if my father finds you, you will be mercilessly killed."

"KILLED! WHO WOULD DARE KILL MY SON! WHO WOULD DARE KILL THE SON SURYANARAYAN, THIS SURYAPUTRA?"

"My lord calm down please. You are bound by laws that govern the world. You could curse someone for their henious crimes, but unless permitted by the divine beings, you cannot yourself descend to slay them. My dharma as a mother has already been broken, but please lord, dont let by dharma as a daughter go to waste. Please male sure he stays safe, my lord. You may take my life for this, but please let him stay safe, my son, please…"

"Dont worry, Kunti. I as the ruler of the Navagrah, and the lord of Sun, proclaim, that as a part of me, he shall forever be protected from unnatural sources of death. His karma shall be the decider of his fate, and no amount of external coercions will be able to stray him from his chosen path."

"Goodbye my son. Goodbye. Live a good life. Forgive this mother if possible."

My eyes watered unconciously. Oh the fates were truly cruel. I was a child no more than a day old and already had to be plucked cruelly from the bosom of my mother for the sake of society. I swore, oneday I shall reunite with her, and that day, even the gods shall tremble if they stop me. However for that, I needed ability and strength to protect those near me. I stopped my tears. It would only result in a loss of energy. I thus floated in the ganga, her slow hum and sloshing sounds repeatedly lulling me to sleep and then waking me. Although on the 7th day I felt hunger, whenever I felt thirst, Gangajal would slosh over my moth, quenching my thirst. I would thank her everytime for her generosity. Yet it was natural, after all, she was a mother herself. On the ninth day I was awoken by a ferocious jerking. As I opened my eyes, I met the face of a man in his late twenties and with a slim firm body, signifying some form of body training. As he swam ashore a sound full of concern sounded,

"Priya, what is that?"

"I dont know priya, its a child abandoned in the ganga."

The lady's eyes immediately contorted and visible rage erupted from her eyes.

"What mother! No mother would forsake her child like this. A child is a blessing the gods bestow us with. How audacious!"

"We should not jugde others without knowing the entirety of what happened, priya. Perhaps something unknown forsed her to give up her child."

"Whatever may it be, from today I shall be his mother. I will raise him like my own."

"But what shall we name him?"

My new parents glanced at my face for some time. They were most probably adirath and radha. As I smiled at them, they themselves started to smile. The lady uttered a single word.

"Vasusen."
