At 5:00 AM in the morning, an alarm went off, waking Ziya from her deep slumber but at the same time, she was very enthusiastic as it was her first day at work.
I don't know how the new people I meet will be or how the new place will be but, at the end of the day I am super excited to start anew, and I still have a long way to go. Thinking this, Ziya started preparing for the day. She took a bath, got ready and prepared breakfast and a coffee to start her day.
After finishing breakfast preparations and then eating the breakfast, she prepared some snacks to have during the break if she receives any and if not then she can munch on while working to keep her going for the day. She was even prepared to eat snacks while commuting back home in the public transit.
"Public transit" you heard it right as Ziya didn't learn how to drive yet and after her parents passed away in an accident, she was traumatized to even learn how to drive a vehicle.
So, she would often take public transit to travel anywhere she wants to or book a ride when she is in a hurry and needs to reach early on time while she is running late to catch the transit. Ziya would either prefer walking when she is traveling for a short distance and is near to her home than taking the bus or public transit for a smaller distance.
Finishing all the required preparations for the new start of the day, Ziya began to pack her bag and left home for the job she just got. Ziya was very nervous, so she started continuous movements of her leg. She got habituated to continually moving her leg back and forth. Eventually, she arrived at the building where she is supposed to work and looking at the building, she was awestruck at first and had her mouth agape with stars in her eyes as she was admiring the exterior of the building.
Ziya exclaimed in awe, "Am I really going to work here??"
She took a deep breath before entering the building and buzzing the concierge on duty. Once she buzzed the concierge, they asked a series of questions like who she is here to visit and what is her name?
Concierge: "Hi. Good morning. My name is Chris. How can I help you??"
Ziya: "Hi. Good morning! My name is Ziya, and I am here for the 1st day of my training."
Concierge: "Nice to meet you Ziya. Come on in."
Ziya: "Thank you, Chris"
Buzzer beeps and Ziya enters the building.
Seeing the interior makes her admire the intricate designs of the building which were completely filled with the glass walls on all the sides. Even the quality of glass seems more sturdy and of high quality. The overall look gives the impression of a high end condominium used by celebrities and famous people. After admiring it for a bit and looking around 1 last time before I went inside towards the reception desk and once again said, " Hello. I was just buzzed in by you. I am Ziya. "
" Welcome Ziya. It's a pleasure to meet you. I am Chris and the lady here goes by the name of Leslie. "
" Nice to meet you Ziya. I am Leslie and I usually work with him in the morning as I am second in command. Seems like you will be the one who will be replacing me but don't worry, Chris is a very nice person and you will enjoy working here. "
" Hello Chris and Leslie. Nice to meet both of you. I hope I am on par with you Leslie. It's a bit of a pressure for me to take your place. Since, I don't know if I will be able to learn the rope around here with everything within 3 days. I highly doubt if I will be able to cope up to your Huge expectations from this role. To be honest with you, It's my first time in this industry and I will be directly over taking the second in command position. "
" You don't have to worry about it. We will be training you so rest assured you will be skilled appropriately, polished and ready to perform your duties and task with confidence and all you need to do is have some faith in yourself girl and you will be perfect for the job. Right Chris??? "
Leslie called annoyingly, " Hey Chris, stop daydreaming and back me up a bit now will ya?? "
Chris replied back saying, " Oh come on! Cut some slack to this old man Leslie. You are already leaving this place, can't I just wallow myself up in some happiness now? Let me be in my world and be happy. "
Leslie retorted saying, " You can daydream however much you want but you need to pay attention here as well. Come on now, you are the supervisor here. I don't need to teach you these things plus we have a company and she will be the one you will be working with when I am gone. So pay attention now. "
Chris replied, " Alright lady. Calm down. You don't have to get angry on me. I was just teasing you. Anyways, she is right for most part Ziya. We will be the one teaching you the ropes around here and if you don't perform well then that's on us that we didn't train you properly. So if I were you, I wouldn't worry much. "
" It's the busiest building, yes. We have many important figures living in here, true but it's not hard to learn how this building operates. You will soon realize the truth of my words when we officially start the training processs and I have a gut feeling that you will be the perfect match to work around. "
Ziya: " That's very sweet of you to have so much faith in me. "
Chris: " Don't worry young lady, I am speaking from the experience. After all I haven't had the grey hair for nothing, it counts the experience I had in life. "
" So I would like for you to leave your stuff and bag in the room at the back. We have coat racks and cabinets where you can put your stuff in. There's a washroom as well for you know change your clothes or use a restroom. "
" Once you had your stuff settled in, come outside and have a seat here with me. We will begin your trainig with the softwares we will be using and basic general information on the building which will cover half of the day. "
" Then you can head for the lunch break and after that, we will give you the tour of the whole building on Parking levels, Amenities, mechanical floors, boiler rooms, Sprinklers room and so on for you know patrolling in case we had to go there and some other stuff. "
" I think this is more than enough information for you to absorb on your first day of training. Tomorrow we will be asking you to take a tour by yourself and I believe that the best way to know the place is to walk around and get lost. "
" On the last day of your training, we will be here for the assistance but we will be entire depending on you. If you have any issues you can ask us but the desk on third day will entirely be yours. That way, we will know how much you learned and how well you can cope up with the pressure in different scenarios. "
" I know it might be a lot to take in as of now but trust me, once you learn how it works in here, it will be fun and you will look forward to come here everyday. Luckily for you, today is Wednesday and the first day of your training. By the time Friday approaches, you will be ready and fighting the battles around. "
" Just kidding, we don't have an actual battle in here. By Monday, you will be taking over Leslie's place and we both will have a blast. Woohooo."
" The secret to work in a place like this is to always have confidence in yourself and never I literally mean never bow down in front of anyone if you are not in the wrong. If you make a mistake then sincerely apologize to them and rectify your mistakes but that does not mean you have the leverage to make mistakes. "
" I will not hold you up in here with me any longer when you have yet to settle your stuff down. "
Ziya: " Sounds good to me. " She started walking towards the back door when she stopped midway turned around and said, " Thank you Chris. You lifted a lot of stress from my mind. Your words really did help me. "
Chris smiled at Ziya and said, " You are welcome. I was also once in your shoes. I know the feeling. "
