Chapter 44 - Beyond Perfection

'It's hopeless!' Jin exclaimed in his heart.

It had already been an hour or so and Tanya still couldn't sense anything.

In order to get started in the Solar Sacrament Techniques that Jin had analyzed, one must feel the essence of the sun through the sunlight first.

Jin knew that the moment of the sunrise was the instance where this process was the easiest.

Therefore, he woke up Tanya earlier than they usually did.

It was for this purpose.

However, it had already been more than an hour and she still hadn't sensed anything.

If he didn't do anything to speed up the process, they would be late for the Training Center.

'Initially, I made her do this in order to test her innate and comprehension talent. However…'

The situation right now made Jin sure of one thing; although his sister's worldly energy talent and physical talent were one of a kind, her innate and comprehension talent was not the same.

Jin rubbed his chin, 'Well, she's rash and not really that smart. So I guess it's a given…"

Tanya would punch him if she heard her brother's thoughts.

'Thankfully, her supernatural power isn't mind reading or something…' Jin shook his head with a smile and said, "That's enough."

Tanya exited her meditative state as she opened her eyes in confusion. "What's the matter, brother?"

"We're going to be late if we dilly dally any longer, so we'll just continue this tomorrow, okay?"

"Okay!" Tanya nodded as she answered.

Jin smiled as he patted her head, "Let's go and eat before we leave."

The two then proceeded to eat and prepare to depart for the Training Center.

Leo was still busy with the demon beast wave preparation in the Adventurer's Guild, so he wasn't able to come home recently.

"Alright, go pick up the training weapon of your choice from the racks. We'll train your stance again." Instructor Oswin's rough voice resounded in the area.

It was the third day of the week, thus it was the day for their Weapon Proficiency Class.

"Argh, we've been training our stances for a whole month now."

"I know, right? I wonder when he'll teach us about the different techniques…"

"When is he going to let us spar with each other?"

The trainees whispered among themselves with fed up expressions.

Instructor Oswin had only made them train their stance for a whole month, he would also punish those who tried to wave their weapons, much less those who tried to spar with each other.

Oswin heard their murmurs and said in a loud voice, "Brats are really too rash nowadays, huh? Back then, I had to train my stance for a whole year before I was able to swing my sword! This is only one of the hardships every warrior and soldier has to go through before becoming a full fledged combatant! Now, go and do as I say if you don't want to die uselessly when you fight in the future."

The trainees groaned as they obediently stood motionlessly in accordance with Oswin's instructions.

In order to make sure that no one was slacking, Oswin walked around with a stick in his hand.

While using the wooden stick to guide the trainee's knees, he said, "Hey Luke, your stance is a little bit off. Bend your knees more so you won't sway with the slightest bit of touch. Your sword also isn't stable. Make sure that one of your hands is closer to the guard while the other slightly higher up the hilt."

"Patri, your twin daggers should be held properly with a strong grip to allow for control and maneuverability. Straighten your back more and engage your core along with the stance." He said as he tapped her abdominal with the wooden stick.

He proceeded to check the stances of each of the trainees while pointing out the deficiencies on their stances.

Making use of his trusty wooden stick, Oswin guided the trainees in order to make sure that they were doing a proper stance.

When he got to where Jin and Tanya were standing, he nodded in satisfaction. 'Hmm, very good. These two had always been consistent with their perfect stances.'

'Though I wonder why the lord's son is beside them…' He thought as he noticed Anton beside them. 'The lord's surely going to be pleased when he comes to learn about it…'

He remembered how Lord Axton had been worried because his son didn't have any friends.

As such, he would surely be happy when he came to know about this.

"Instructor."

Just as he was about to walk off, he heard a call.

Oswin turned his head and was surprised to see that it was Jin who called him.

He had always kept his attention to this white haired boy with golden eyes from the moment he saw the latter performing a perfect stance from the get go.

"What is it?"

"When we visited the battle camp the other day, Instructor Agnes had mentioned something about aura arts proficiency and weapon proficiency, so I was curious about it…"

Oswin sighed as Jin finished speaking.

If it were any other trainee, he would have laughed and said that they were still too far away from even the lowest level to even think about knowing the different tiers of proficiency and that knowing more wouldn't necessarily mean that it would be better for them.

However, since the one who asked was such an excellent trainee, he cleared his throat and spoke as he walked back to the platform, "It's still too early for you to know more about it. However, I guess it will be better to have you all look forward to something as well."

While focusing on their stances, the trainees also perked up their ears as they were interested in the so-called proficiency.

Then he continued with a loud voice in order to make sure that everyone would hear him, "The tiers of proficiency are divided into Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Master and Perfect. These tiers of proficiency don't only apply to aura arts and weapon proficiency, but also to the magic spells of mages."

"I won't go into detail as it is too early for you all. However, every tier of proficiency is extremely hard to reach. And in turn, the gap in power between them was also massive. That's all you need to know for now."

"But Instructor, is there something after Perfect Proficiency?" A trainee asked.

Instructor Oswin chuckled for a bit as if he remembered something and replied, "Haha!! Indeed, there is something that has always been a myth in the circle of professionals. It was the fact that there was still a tier of proficiency after Perfect."

"But how is that possible? Perfect is already, as its name implies, perfect. How could something be beyond perfection?"

He paused for a moment and continued, "However, it also appeared in some of the records. The tier of proficiency that surpasses even perfection; Transcendence."

Jin's golden eyes sparkled as he heard Instructor Oswin's words.
