Chapter 35 - Chapter Thirty-Four: A Dangerous Game

The tension in the Cruz mansion was palpable. Security had been tightened, and Sanchez had doubled his efforts to uncover Pierre's plans. Susan, though composed, was keenly aware of the growing danger surrounding them. The enemy wasn't just a faceless threat anymore—it was someone who knew their vulnerabilities, someone willing to exploit them.

In the study, Sanchez and Hedro pored over intercepted communications and suspicious financial activities. "Pierre is a master strategist," Hedro said grimly. "He doesn't leave loose ends. But if we're going to stop him, we need to anticipate his next move."

Sanchez leaned back in his chair, his mind racing. "Loiz," he said after a moment. "She's his next move. She's unpredictable, desperate, and still has access to people within the company. We need to neutralize her before she causes irreparable damage."

---

Susan, meanwhile, had her own strategy. She'd been in touch with Maya, whose investigation into Pierre had uncovered a few intriguing leads. That evening, Susan met Maya in a secluded corner of the city.

"I found something," Maya said, sliding a folder across the table. "Pierre has ties to a company that's been quietly acquiring shares in Cruz Oil through shell corporations. It's a hostile takeover in disguise."

Susan's stomach sank as she flipped through the documents. "So, he's not just targeting us personally—he's trying to destroy the company from within."

Maya nodded. "And Loiz is helping him. She's been meeting with his associates regularly. If you can expose their connection, it might give Sanchez the leverage he needs."

"Thank you, Maya," Susan said, her voice steady despite the storm of emotions brewing inside her.

---

Later that night, Susan shared the information with Sanchez. As he studied the documents, his expression darkened. "This confirms what I suspected. Pierre's playing a long game, but now we have a chance to outmaneuver him."

Susan placed a hand on his shoulder. "We'll get through this, Sanchez. Together."

He turned to her, his eyes softening. "I don't deserve you, Susan. You're my anchor in all of this."

---

The next day, Loiz made her move. She arrived unannounced at the Cruz Oil headquarters, her presence immediately drawing attention. Dressed to command authority, she strode into the lobby with an air of confidence, demanding to see Sanchez.

When Sanchez finally met her in the boardroom, his demeanor was icy. "What do you want, Loiz?" he asked, his voice sharp.

Loiz smirked, but there was a hint of desperation in her eyes. "I came to make a deal."

"I don't make deals with traitors," Sanchez replied.

Her smile faltered, but she quickly regained her composure. "You'll want to hear this, Sanchez. Pierre's planning something big, something that could destroy everything you've built. I can help you stop him."

Sanchez narrowed his eyes. "Why should I believe anything you say?"

"Because," Loiz said, leaning forward, "I know where Pierre's funding is coming from. And I know how to cut him off."

Sanchez studied her for a long moment. He knew better than to trust her, but if there was even a shred of truth to her claim, it could give him the edge he needed. "You have one chance, Loiz. If you're lying, I'll make sure you regret it."

---

As Loiz left the headquarters, her phone buzzed. It was Pierre.

"Did you do it?" he asked, his tone cold.

"Yes," she replied, trying to mask her unease. "He took the bait."

"Good," Pierre said. "Stick to the plan, and don't make any mistakes. If Sanchez figures out what we're really after, it's over for both of us."

Loiz ended the call, her heart pounding. She was playing a dangerous game, caught between Sanchez and Pierre. And she knew that in the end, only one side would win.

---

That evening, Sanchez stood on the balcony of the mansion, the weight of the day heavy on his shoulders. Susan joined him, slipping her hand into his.

"What are you thinking?" she asked softly.

"That this is far from over," Sanchez replied. "But no matter what happens, I'll protect you and the kids. Nothing matters more to me than you."

Susan leaned her head against his shoulder, their bond unshakable despite the storm raging around them. Together, they prepared for the next battle, knowing the stakes had never been higher.
