Chapter 39 - Chapter Thirty-Eight: Lines of Fire

The orange glow of the warehouse fire reflected in Sanchez's dark eyes. His fury burned as hot as the flames consuming his property. Workers scrambled to control the damage, while Hedro barked orders to coordinate the fire crews.

"This isn't just sabotage," Hedro said, his voice tight with anger. "This is war."

Sanchez clenched his fists, staring into the chaos. "And Pierre just made it personal."

---

Back at the mansion, Susan paced the study, her worry growing with each passing minute. She hated being left behind, but Sanchez insisted it was for her safety. Maya, who had become a steady presence in Susan's life, tried to reassure her.

"He'll be fine," Maya said gently. "Sanchez knows how to handle situations like this."

Susan stopped and turned to her. "But at what cost, Maya? Every step he takes brings Pierre closer to us. To the kids."

Maya placed a hand on her shoulder. "We're in this together. If Pierre wants to break us, he'll have to go through all of us first."

---

By dawn, the fire at the warehouse had been extinguished, but the damage was severe. Sanchez surveyed the charred remains, anger and determination warring within him.

"How much did we lose?" he asked Hedro.

"About 30% of the inventory," Hedro replied. "It'll take weeks to recover."

Sanchez nodded grimly. "We don't have weeks. Pierre's trying to destabilize us, and he won't stop here."

Hedro hesitated. "There's more. We found traces of an accelerant. This wasn't a random attack—it was deliberate."

Sanchez's jaw tightened. "Then Pierre left a trail. Find it."

---

That evening, Pierre celebrated his latest victory in his lavish penthouse. Loiz stood nearby, her discomfort growing as she watched Pierre revel in his success.

"You're playing a dangerous game," she said.

Pierre smirked, swirling a glass of wine. "Sanchez thinks he can outsmart me. But he's too predictable. All I have to do is keep pushing, and he'll crumble."

Loiz crossed her arms. "And what happens if he doesn't?"

Pierre's smile faded. "Then we take everything from him—his company, his name, his family."

Loiz flinched at his cold words but said nothing. She had chosen her side, even if it left her trapped in Pierre's shadow.

---

Back at the mansion, Sanchez called a meeting with his most trusted allies. The attack on the warehouse was a declaration of war, and he knew Pierre wouldn't stop until he had everything Sanchez held dear.

"We need to move fast," Sanchez said. "Hedro, focus on tracking the accelerant used in the fire. Maya, I want our legal team ready to counter any moves Pierre makes. And Susan..."

Susan, sitting beside him, looked up. "What do you need from me?"

Sanchez hesitated, his protective instincts clashing with the knowledge that Susan was as much a part of this fight as he was.

"Keep an eye on the kids," he said finally. "And keep them safe."

Susan frowned but nodded. She understood his need to protect her, even if it frustrated her.

---

The following night, Sanchez received a tip from one of his informants: Pierre was planning another attack, this time targeting Cruz Oil's main refinery. Sanchez immediately mobilized his team, determined to stay one step ahead.

At the refinery, Sanchez and Hedro arrived to find Pierre's men already there, planting explosives. A tense standoff ensued, with Sanchez confronting one of Pierre's henchmen.

"Tell Pierre his games are over," Sanchez said, his voice cold and steady.

The man smirked. "Pierre doesn't play games. He wins."

Before Sanchez could respond, a gunshot rang out, narrowly missing him. Chaos erupted as Sanchez's team clashed with Pierre's men. The fight was brutal, but Sanchez's side managed to gain the upper hand, forcing Pierre's men to retreat.

---

As dawn broke, Sanchez returned to the mansion, exhausted but victorious. Susan was waiting for him in the foyer, her worry etched across her face.

"What happened?" she asked, rushing to him.

"We stopped them," Sanchez said, his voice heavy. "But this isn't over."

Susan cupped his face, forcing him to meet her gaze. "We'll get through this, Sanchez. Together."

He nodded, drawing strength from her unwavering support.

But as he held her close, Sanchez knew the war with Pierre was far from over. And the next battle would be the most dangerous yet.
