Chapter 20 - Chapter Nineteen : Pedro’s Trap

The following week, Pedro made his boldest move yet. Using his newfound influence with the board, he called an emergency meeting to discuss "leadership concerns" within Cruz Oil.

Sanchez arrived at the meeting, his expression calm but his anger simmering beneath the surface. Pedro stood at the head of the table, speaking confidently.

"Ladies and gentlemen, while Sanchez has done an admirable job, it's clear that the company is struggling under his leadership," Pedro began, his tone dripping with feigned concern. "We need fresh direction, someone with experience and a steady hand."

"And you think that's you?" Sanchez asked, his voice cold.

Pedro smiled. "I'm simply offering my expertise during this difficult time. The board deserves to hear all options."

Before the discussion could escalate, Susan entered the room, holding a folder of damning evidence. "If we're discussing leadership, the board might find this interesting," she said, her tone sharp.

She handed out copies of the documents she had uncovered, detailing Pedro's embezzlement and his connections to the shell company.

The room fell silent as the board members read through the files. Pedro's confident facade cracked for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure.

"This is ridiculous," he scoffed. "A desperate attempt to discredit me."

"Desperate?" Susan shot back. "The evidence speaks for itself."

The board members murmured among themselves, their trust in Pedro visibly shaken.
