Chapter 34 - Why do you still regard me as an enemy?

In the grand hallways of the Phoenix Palace, a maid rushes with urgency, her hurried steps resonating against the polished marble floors. She weaves through the hallways, heading to the Empress's bedchamber. Breathless and flushed, she finally reaches her destination. 

"Your Majesty!" she calls out, her voice filled with urgency. The maids stationed outside the door regard her with puzzled looks.

Inside the bedchamber, the Empress rouses from her nap, long tresses in disarray over her shoulders. She sits up, draping a quilt over her silky red undergarment.

The Head Attendant, vexed that the maid has disturbed the Empress's rest, goes out to meet her. Her expression is a mixture of curiosity and annoyance as the doors open to allow her exit.

In a hushed but sharp tone, she reprimands the maid, "How dare you raise your voice within the walls of the Phoenix Palace? Have you forgotten your place?"
