Chapter 2 - 2. Talking To An Old Man

Trekking through a bustling alien trade center Lumi searched for supplies mainly food and lounges, his belly was filled but all the lounges were booked which didn't happen very often. This was a sign that an event was around the corner as they have a 'first come, first serve' policy.

'Well I didn't really plan to stay there are some snakes lurking around' making sure his hood stays on he checked his money 'I should be okay for a month at least based on the market price information' having looked the average price for most dimensions.

"That price is ridiculous 10 silvers is more than enough!" a moth man shouted at a vendor clearly upset.

"The cost to import this delicate product is high I'll need 15 silvers" the vendor who took on the appearance of gecko explained to the man why it cost so much the process of maintaining a business is a hassle if you ask yours truly.

'Why do people torture themselves for a item that doesn't possess true value' he will never understand.

"You and your family are always moving the prices back in my day you could get 3 for 10 silvers!" the man said clearly not with the current times.

"Nothing stays the same now pay or leave cheapskate your holding up the line" the monsters behind started complaining, the moth man begrudgingly left shoving past a few people.

'That old man knows something and I intend to find out' Lumi could see from that interaction the two have history. Tailing the man wasn't hard do to his massive size, maneuvering around the masses towards the outskirts of town.

The man's house was a modest one story with a garden with vegetables and flowers. When said man opened the door he left it open looking back for a second looking back towards his position going further in 'He knew I was following him got to work on my stealth' Lumi approached the doorway.

"What do you want boy few people in this town speaks to me willingly" seated in a comfortable chair wary of him. A chair was placed adjacent of him, Lumi sat in the chair before speaking.

"What's the deal with that vendor it seemed you two go way back?" removing his hood, in the moth culture the revealing of one's face means they show no deception.

"Getting straight to the point at least you don't beat around the bush" shifting slightly his shoulders higher than before.

"Those Mirgo's are dangerous need to be stopped" his fist clenched. Lumi paying attention did his best to decipher the situation "If you don't mind could you explain it to me" maintaining eye contact.

"I have lived here for decades seen this town when the were only 50 residents here now over 4,000. I've seen countless people come and go bringing something to this town for all to share, but those two faces lizards want to take it all for themselves. Come with me I will show you how their presence affects the environment" rising from his chair beckoning Lumi to follow.

The two walked along a path leading to a ridge concealed by trees. What was saw inside answered his question, many burnt trees and toxic pools along with infected animals.

"Do you see the devastation before you how long do you think until the town becomes affected. The Mirgo's plan to infect the town and offer a cure playing the role of savior" the moth man holding out his hand for emphasis.

"What do you plan to do if they need to be taken care of just give me their location and they'll be taken care of" Lumi may not have love for the place but to nefariously use the town to put themselves in power was a no go in his book.

"Temptation is high but we have a way of doing things here since the beginning not going to change that now" the man said peering down into the ridge.

"Our rule when matters like this is called judgment of the many. The masses are the ones to decide what happens to the perpetrator. The real question is do you plan to help if not get out the way" he asked.

'He really does want what's best for his people good thing I learned not to judge a book by it's cover' Lumi smirked "Consider me on board old man" hands twitching.

"Alright if you do this it's my way understand me?" setting a baseline.

"Fine by me you have a greater understanding than myself" holding out his hand to shake to whack the moth man grasped sealing the deal "I am Graul by the way" as the to head back.

"Is it just the two of us?" Lumi asked.

"I have a few trustworthy friends helping out as well" he replied.

'Sounds like fun let's see how this turns out' his blood warming up at the thought of conflict.
