"Come on, hurry up."
"Watch your head, the tunnel is narrow, so be very careful."
After the weapons were distributed along with ammunition, the strong children and young ones were being mobilized through the tunnels alongside their mothers to keep them from getting scared.
"Mama, I'm scared."
In the original story, not only children would die, but also babies. Jacob wanted to make sure that at least the casualties would be much lower than without his presence. Deaths would be inevitable, but at least with everything he had, he ensured that it would be much better for those who were fighting.
Now, as the uprising was about to begin, the elders and adults mostly stayed behind, and out of the over 12,000 people in the district, at least 6,000 stayed to fight for their freedom.
Hours passed, and the sky grew darker, concealing the surroundings in the shadows of the night. The Justice Building would be the first to burn in flames; that's what everyone was seeking. As for the Hovercrafts that could attack them from the sky, as Jacob had already stated he would take care of it, no one doubted his word after this.
The young inhabitants of District 12, along with the strongest youths, were silently led through the forest. The tension in the air was palpable, as everyone knew they were part of a crucial mission: the uprising against the Capitol. Armed men, with serious faces and determination in their eyes, made sure to maintain order and discipline within the group.
They advanced in an organized line, following the path towards an open area where two Hovercrafts were waiting. The wind blew gently, rustling the leaves of the trees and creating a mysterious atmosphere. Whispers faded away as everyone waited in silence, aware of the importance of the mission they were about to embark on.
The leader of this uprising headed towards District 12, with a firm gaze and a focused mind, prepared for any eventuality. He knew District 13 was their best option for help, but he had also developed a plan B in case District 13 was unwilling to join the rebellion. His goal was to gain control over the situation in District 11 and then direct their attacks towards District 13 to seize control of their nuclear bombs.
Time seemed to stand still as they waited. The young inhabitants of District 12 clung to the hope of a better future, a Panem free from oppression and the tyranny of the Capitol. On their faces, a mixture of unity and fear could be seen, but they were willing to fight for their rights and the future of future generations.
The distant sound of crunching branches interrupted the silence, alerting everyone. Bellamy's eyes lit up with a spark of hope as he saw a group running towards the area where those who would be evacuated were gathered. They approached with determined steps, joining the District 12 group, ready to unite in this fight for freedom.
"Sir, Jacob sent a message and said we can begin."
The forest seemed to whisper words of encouragement and support as the rebels waited in silence. Darkness enveloped the surroundings, but the light of resistance shone in their hearts. They knew the road ahead would be difficult, but they were ready to face any challenge with bravery and determination.
"Very well, you know what will happen next..." Bellamy looked at everyone and then said, "The people who will pick you up will be from District 13. If they don't come after we attack the peacekeepers, other Hovercrafts will come to pick you up."
"Let's go!"
The moment of action approached. Jacob and the rebels were ready to take their destiny into their own hands and change the course of history. The words of freedom and justice resonated in their minds as they prepared to confront the Capitol and fight for a better future for all the districts of Panem.
...
Justice Building.
Peacekeepers were less active at night because they knew that no issues had occurred at these hours, especially in District 12.
As angry eyes in the darkness watched them, ready to put an end to them, they all waited for Bellamy's order, who stood among them, holding a weapon in his hands.
After the threat of an uprising, there were clear changes in district security, and some districts were even reinforced. However, after the events involving Katniss Everdeen, no one else dared to cause trouble, and as a result, everything continued as usual.
The days of alertness dwindled, and many believed that no one would dare to cause problems anymore. However, no one could have imagined that everything was about to change.
In the central square of District 12, the light suddenly turned on, illuminating most of what was hidden in the darkness. Peacekeepers in the vicinity raised their weapons, some communicated directly with the captain, and within minutes, more peacekeepers arrived at the main square where the screen had lit up.
"What's happening?" The new captain of the peacekeepers, who had replaced the old Gray, walked in front of everyone, interrupting their state of alert.
"It turned on a minute ago..."
"Is that a damn excuse? Why don't they turn it off?" asked the muscular man, looking at the others.
"That's what we're doing, but it's taking longer than it should..."
"You're all useless, if the Capitol finds out about this, we'll all be punished..."
But right at that moment, the plaza screen started emitting a signal frequency, and this signal was not only transmitted in District 12 but also in the Capitol, which had just regained its power.
"Dear residents of District 12!"
"Today, we find ourselves at a critical moment in our history. For far too long, we have lived under the yoke of the Capitol, suffering oppression and injustice. But I tell you, the time has come to change our destiny, to raise our voices and reclaim our rights."
"We have been silenced for too long, but no more. On this dark night, in this moment of uncertainty, we unite as one to challenge the Capitol and fight for our freedom. We know the path will be arduous and dangerous, but we must be willing to pay the price for justice and dignity."
"Today, in District 12, we ignited the spark of rebellion. Fear will grip them as we strengthen in the shadows, gathering forces to overthrow the Capitol."
"Our goal is clear: to liberate all districts from the tyranny of the Capitol. We refuse to be puppets in their game, to be trampled upon and exploited. The time has come to take our lives into our own hands and forge a new future, where equality and justice are the fundamental pillars."
"Today, I call upon each and every one of you, brave men and women of District 12, to join this fight. Let us unite in solidarity, in courage, and in determination. Together, we are stronger; together, we can break the chains of oppression and build a Panem where every voice is heard, where every life holds value."
"Do not fear the adversities that lie ahead, for we are prepared. Our will is unbreakable, and our conviction is powerful. The Capitol will tremble before our unity, and the light of freedom will shine in every corner of Panem."
"Today, we mark the beginning of a new dawn, a dawn of hope and resistance. Rise up, brothers and sisters of District 12, and let us fight together for a better future. Our children and future generations deserve a life of freedom and justice. United, we shall prevail!"
"May the flame of rebellion burn in our hearts and guide our path to victory!"
"Long live District 12! Long live a free Panem!"
