The chill of the water sunk into my skin, for a moment drowning the sting I felt seconds ago. I grabbed more water from the kitchen sink into my cupped hands, washing the tears off my face, while more threatened to pour out.
What exactly is it about this guy that pulls and calls me all the time? I ought to have learnt my lessons by now, yet, for some reason, I have chosen to be stubborn over again, ignoring the messages passed to me.
The tears rushed to my eyes once more, the pain of his words stinging my heart.
I swallowed hard, wanting to think about anything but that particular person. That same person who gets a hold of me now and then, who gets me wanting to figure out more.
How could I have been so foolish?.....All this while, he was only using me, and even compared me with them.
I was nothing like them.
Maybe you are. My subconscious said.
"You better be quiet" I said out loud.
"Nia" The call my of my name, snapped me out the swirl of thoughts, eyes peering out the kitchen window, just to see Arabella staring on at me, a smile on her lips.
At once, I hurried outside to the backyard to meet her, a rush of joy filling me the instant I drew closer.
She crashed me into a hug immediately, chuckling. But the instant she took notice of the tears in my eyes, her smile faded.
"What's wrong?" Her voice was filled with concern.
"Nothing" I lied, while wiping the tears off.
"You're crying" She stated quietly, eyes accessing me.
Her fingers touched my arms softly, gaze still fixed on my figure, and just as I opened my lips to speak, a voice from nowhere interrupted.
We both spun around at once only to find Logan stood away, eyes focused on Arabella.
In his gaze rested shock, perhaps he was surprised to see her there.
He advanced towards her almost immediately, a spark appearing in his eyes, while she wrapped her arms around him, hugging him the instant he got to her.
"Happy birthday" She whispered.
A smile grew on his lips at her words, expression softening as he leaned in to kiss her, but then she turned her face away, pulling away from him.
Confused at the sudden action, he narrowed his eyes at her, gaze peering on at her figure.
With his fingers he propped her chin up slowly, causing her to face him.
"What's wrong?" His voice remained low, laced with worry.
Arabella only remained quiet, averting her gaze away.
"Logan" She began, letting out a sigh, finally bringing her eyes to meet his.
"We need to stop seeing each other"
Her words caused a subtle twitch in Logan's jaw, eyes staring on at her.
"I'm sorry, but we can't see each other" She added, while tears rushed to her eyes.
"Arabella" He called softly, drawing closer to her.
"Why are you saying this?"
"I don't want us to stop, Logan...but we have to" She spoke.
"We have no choice. I, particularly, have no choice"
"You have a choice!" He yelled at once, causing the girl flinching at the sudden change of tone.
"Logan, I'm sorry" She muttered to him
"Don't do this Arabella. Please!"
She shook her head, more tears falling from her eyes.
"You very much know we don't have a future together" She said to him.
"What are you even talking about?" He blurted.
"I'm truly sorry" She said to him once more, right before pushing closer to his figure, then planting a kiss right on his cheek.
Pulling away from him, she turned to walk away, but he held her back, crashing his lips onto hers.
The two remained there kissing for a very long moment, arms wrapped around each other.
"Don't go" He muttered to her, eyes not wanting to let go of hers, but she pulled her hands away from his, walking off immediately.
I just stood there staring at the figure of Logan after she walked away.
He appeared angry, more like sad.
Not long afterwards, he had stormed into the house, and then I heard his voice booming.
"Everyone, get out!" I heard him yell.
"What are you doing?" Tyler's words were distant to my ears, but I could still make out whatever he was saying.
"I want everyone out. Now!" Logan yelled.
"This is my birthday party, as much as it is yours. You can't just make decisions on your own, and expect me to go along with it" Followed Tyler's response.
"Do not get me angry, Tyler!" Logan yelled.
"Excuse me? What are you gonna do" The voice of Tyler echoed.
Silence blasted through for a short while, and suddenly, the screams of people erupted.
Running back into the house, I found the chaos that had threatened to spill.
The figures of Tyler and Logan rolling on the floor, punching and kicking at each other, while Ashley screamed on, trying to seperate them.
A few boys moved forward, in a bid of getting them apart, but Logan and Tyler remained fighting.
I gasped at the sight of blood dripping down Logan's nose, shock crossing my eyes.
It didn't take long for a figure pushing through the crowd, and whoever it was pulled them apart at once.
Cameron.
At the sight of him, I turned uneasy.
I so wanted to be far away from him as possible. Not even wanting to have a view of him. He had made it clear already that I meant nothing to him, and at that, I decided to stay off.
"What the hell is wrong with the both of you?" His voice boomed in the room, eyes shifting from Tyler to Logan.
"That's it. Party over" He called out
"Everyone, out!"
Grumbles followed after his utterance as figures were seen moving out, murmuring amongst themselves.
Ashley ran over to Logan at once, holding his arms.
"You're bleeding!" She exclaimed.
"I'm fine" He uttered right before walking away.
"What was that all about?" Cameron turned to Tyler, questioning.
Tyler gave no response, he only turned around, walking away, while Ashley stared on at him.
"Where's Derrick, Dylan and David?" Cameron asked immediately, eyes searching around the room.
"They're upstairs sleeping" Ashley responded.
I heard someone move beside me, and then the figure of Denna came into view.
"Where were you?" She questioned
"I was upstairs sleeping" I lied.
Averting my gaze away from hers quickly, I turned forward, only for my gaze to meet with Cameron's, our eyes locked together.
Turning the other direction at once, I walked away, leaving Denna stood there, perhaps confused at the look that lingered on the face of Cameron while I proceeded out.
