Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Void. Emptiness. Darkness. Freya finds herself in the black void of space.

"Hello! Hello! Anyone!" fretted Freya as she dawdled through the surface of the void.

However Freya was still on the wooden bed in the real word, and whatever words she uttered in her illusion was voiced out in the real word.

As soon as the Priest heard these fretted words of Freya, he began another series of rituals.

He quickly placed candles around himself, and a ceramic like plate in front of him which was filled with blood. He whispered words in languages Rebecca couldn't comprehend. His body was dripping in sweat, as this was some powerful spell he was messing with.

He did these rituals as fast as he could, so he could be able to converse with Freya before it all goes wrong.

"Freya. Freya, are you there?"

These words of the Priest brought a fresh wave of hope to Freya's frightened soul. It was like a soothing voice from no where, being projected into the void.

"Yes. I can hear you. Where am I? This is not the demon's world, or is it?"

"What can you see?" The priest asked.

"Nothing. It's just a completely empty space. Nothing or no one else is here"

"That's just an illusion. Your demon made you see that. He is trying to stop you from entering his world, but you can beat him at his own game. I need you to relax. Calm those tensed muscles of yours"

Freya, still in the void, does her best to calm down. She breathes in and out a few times, whispering her favorite sentence.

"Three things cannot long be hidden - the sun, the moon, the truth"

"Okay. I'm calm now. How does this work exactly?" She asked, still amazed by how she could communicate with somebody not in the void with her.

"Freya. You must get to the demon's world. You must free yourself. I can only guide you through my words and opinion. You get to do all these yourself okay? Now, I want you to remember. That very first sign, yeah. That very first vision the demon made you see, or the very first voice you heard. Or whatever it was"

(Freya gets into deep thoughts)

"I was 17 when all these began. It started with still voices whispering to me at intervals. Those voices were calm, not the angry ones I hear now. And then it went on and on, until I now see and hear monsters in my room. They are literally living with me in my room. Sometimes I can see them, and they look at me too. They like staying in group of three's, and hell, are they ugly!"

"Good. Now think about that first moment when your demon started messing with your head. Dwell on that thought, breathe on it. Think deeply. Keep going. Think of how it came, how you felt, and how it progressed. Just continue Freya"

(Freya shuts her eyes closed, dwelling on the thoughts, digging up memories that she had buried for a very long time. She let them rush to the surface of her mind, she let them in. She does exactly as the Priest says)

****************

Sound of birds screeching from a distance, the aroma is stung with decayed blood, the ground feels like it had opened, and closed back a few hundred times.

(Freya slowly opens her eyes as she notices the change of environment)

"Holy shit. We did it Priest dude!" Freya yells, hoping she could still hear the Priest.

"No. You did it. However, don't rejoice yet. You have a lot to do"

(Freya feels a little bit of relief hearing the Priest's voice again. Although the "having a lot to do" part wearied her)

"Now, what do you see?"

"Red sky, or rather, not exactly red. Hmm, the weather is insanely hot, and uhmm, the place smells like a thousand bodies died here"

"What else can you see? Don't just stand there. Move Freya. Only you know where your demon is" The priest encouraged.

Freya moves with fear and uncertainty. She had a feeling she was walking into a den of demons.

(A loud roar courses through the air. The wind carries the roar, blasting it into Freya's ears)

"No. No no no. I don't like that sound" Freya stammers. Her skin was feeling both the heat of the world, and the adrenaline her body kept emitting.

(Three creature jump into the area from nowhere. They were ugly, had horns on all parts of their body, and horrible looking. They were also about 4 foot tall if standing erect)

"Get me out of here. Somebody, please! Please don't hurt me. No, don't!" whimpered Freya, as she closed her eyes, not being able to move, imagining how fatal the bites of the creatures would be on her human body.

(The priest gives out a loud giggle which fills Freya's mind, eases her a little bit)

She opens her eyes.

"Where are they? The creatures?"

"They are not your problem Freya. You're not really there. Your body is here in the real world, I only sent you there to do one thing - get your demon out of your mind. Those creatures can't see you. Only your demon would be able to see you"

"Well, that's a relief"

"Now, go to your demon, and end him. No much time left"

"How the hell do I do that.?" replied Freya, as she moped around.

"It's your demon, not mine. You might not know this, but the good thing about being possessed by a demon is that, the demon is also possessed by you. It's easy. You can read the demon's mind, just as he can read yours. It's a two way thing. You know where your demon is, all you have to do is let yourself find it"

Freya tenses up her muscles and body, and releases the tension. Like a determined soul ready to face a thousand year old demon, she lifted her chin high, calming her nerves with heavy breathing.

She let her mind do the work, while she just trudged along, putting one foot in front of another, walking leisurely.

"Where you at, demon. Ha ha, come out, come out. Freaky Freya wants to have a word with you. Just show your face right here, and save me the work, will ya?"

(A loud eerie sound groans, loudly enough to send chills through Freya's body)

"Oh, that must be you. My demon. Howdy demon" Freya's sarcasm helped her face the situation confidently.

(The partially red sky turns darker. The birds stop making their crazy noises, and the ground starts to increase in temperature)

A huge figure appears, about 8feet tall. It had horns and tails that actually disfigured it's shape. It had this impression of an octopus looking from afar, but coming closer, it had no definite shape really.

"Howdy demon?" Freya still had a bit of sarcasm in her tone. Actually, she thought the demon was a bit friendly.

The demon groans again, even louder, and then, lowers itself, bringing its face to Freya's.

At this point, chilled feeling Freya had vanished. She was as scared as fuck.

(Holy shit. This is definitely one hell of a demon) she thought as fear creeped into her skull.

"What do I do now?" Freya asked, expecting the Priest to respond.

"Your priest can't hear you Freya. I blocked the signal" The demon answered in the cruelest voice Freya had ever had.

Freya's body dripped in sweat, her body kept quivering. Her head was pounding, she was losing her shit real bad.

(Come on Freya. Remember what the Priest said. It's a two way thing) She said in her mind.

"Why are you here, Freya. What do you have to say to me that you couldn't say from the comfort of your room?"

"Fucking let me be!" Freya voiced out, using all the confidence she could muster.

"Why do you want me to go?"

(Chill. Is this demon actually reasonable? Like he or whatever it is, is trying to have a conversation with me?)

"Why do I want you to go? You ruined my life you piece of shit. Everyone thinks I'm a freak, my dad hates me, all because you decided to possess me, you old bastard! Let me go now! I said, fucking let me be!!!!!" Freya was getting serious.

(The demon goes back to its original 8feet length)

It lets out a roar, making the ground shook, and increase in temperature again. Freya's feet were burning up already.

"Fine. I would let you go. You don't want me anymore. Fine fine. I would let you go!"

(A giggle escapes Freya's mouth. It was those kinda small laughs you make when you find out you just won a million dollar)

"You will...?" she asks

"The priest isn't who you think he is human. That's the thing about humans. They are fools, all of them. I will be back! And trust me, you are the one that's going to let me in yourself. Humans are bound to make mistakes anyway. All I have to do is wait. See you again, Freya!" The 8feet demon stated clearly with a sharp, piercing voice.

Freya watches as everything around her fades away quickly, sending her back to the real world.

*****

(She inhales loudly, bouncing back to consciousness)

"Mom..." was all she could utter as her body was still in shock of what had just happened.

"It's okay Freya. Your demon is gone" Rebecca runs to her, squeezing Freya tightly against her chest.
