Chapter 6 - 6. Get us out.

"That's a portal!!" Someone screamed and every head turned toward the direction he pointed. It was like a white pool that stood up straight. It wasn't translucent, so we could not see what was in it—or beyond it. But it was obvious to everyone that that was the portal.

"These freaking bastards, that thing can't take more than five people at once." I hissed. Looking at the size and wideness of the portal, it could take at most five people at once. And there were more than a thousand people here.

"Let's go!!" Someone yelled, and led the way in a hurry. Instantly, there were hundreds of people behind him ready to make their way into the portal, but then…

BOOM

I jerked and so did Skye, as a mighty ball of fire fell right into their mists, bodies flew high up in the air, and landed harshly on the cold ground with a squashing sound. Every single one of them was blown to bits. The once that weren't blown up were charred beyond recognition.

"They won't let us reach it." I breathed out the words. These heartless people didn't seem to have any intention of allowing us to get to the portal.

"There's another portal!" A lady yelled, as a portal opened up right beside her, and without thinking, she jumped into it. Seeing this, some other people ran toward that new portal, but then…

BAM!

Everyone of them fell to the ground in fear as a dragon landed right in front of the portal, blocking the entrance. It was huge. Looking at it flying in the sky since, it was clear that it was huge, but when it landed on the ground, we could see how mighty it really was. It was about three stories high, and that calculation did not include its neck to its head when straightened up.

"There's a new portal over there!" Someone screamed and people turned to that direction too, only to be viciously flogged and smashed into a building by the tail of another dragon.

Now there were dragons on the ground, and warplanes blowing up people. The sun was slowly coming up, and yet we were all in a nightmare.

More and more portals were being opened up around, but it was almost impossible to make it to where the portals were. Those who were at the point the portals opened were the lucky ones if they could quickly dive into it.

The man in the sky wasn't joking when he said may the strongest and vilest of us win. For even the strong ones were dying.

"Come Skye, no matter what happens, don't let go of my hand." I commanded again.

"Kiva, at this point, I don't think you should hold my hand. You heard what they said, right? I know you can make it to one of those portals and I don't want to hold you back, so—"

"I told you to stop reading weird comics!" I slapped her in the head. "In times like this, we need to hold on to each other even tighter. We're both going to make it to that world. I'll make sure of it." She clenched my hand even tighter, and a smile curled up my lips as I nodded to her.

"Now, all we—"

"Kiva watch out!!" Skye yelled and dragged me closer to her body, causing us both to go tumbling on the ground.

"See why I can't let go of your hand? How would you have pulled me quickly if you weren't holding my hand?" I joked, and she laughed as the tail of the dragon that almost hit us swung back to the other side.

I pulls myself up and helped her up too.

"We're not going to die. Not today." I said.

There were people screaming and shouting, we could see children crying but there was little anyone could do in this situation. Everyone was really after their own lives.

Looking up at the sky, I had noticed something, something I thought might help us out of this craziness.

"Listen to me Skye, I think I have an idea."

"You do? Right now?"

"Yeah. You see that warplane over there?" I pointed to the sky.

"The golden one?"

"Yes, the golden one…" Skye suddenly pulls me forcefully closer to her body, moving me away from a stray car tire that could have crushed me. But then it went on to hit another lady.

I looked at Skye with my eyes wide open, and she also looked shocked and terrified too, but then she shook her head over and over again, as if telling herself in her head that it was bound to happen.

"Focus!" She tells herself.

"Alright, I think that golden warplane is the one making the portals. I've noticed that that round thing at the bottom of the plane always turns to a certain direction like it's about to blast something, but instead, a portal appears in that direction."

"So you're saying?"

"I'm saying if we can understand the movement of that warplane, then we can detect where it's going to open up a portal next, and we can be there—"

"And as soon as the portal opens, we can dive into it!" She completed my words, and I nodded enthusiastically.

"So what do you say, we can do this?"

"I don't know."

"Don't worry, you have me. I'll definitely get us both into that portal. I will not let go of this hand." I locked our fingers together and she nodded agreeably.

"So are you ready?"

"Hm."

"Alright, let's do this. The moment we notice that that thing at the bottom of the warplane changes directions, we run toward that direction with all our might, not looking back. We must dodge these blasts and Dragons, and make it to that portal."

"Okay, we can do it!"
