"Exactly, our safety first." She says, "We don't have the liberty to think of others."
And all of a sudden I can't digest the cookie anymore. It's stuck in my throat as I stare at her.
And I'm finally realizing she's not having any ant problems, neither does she need to get rid of any ants. On the contrary, I am one of the many ants. My world is the anthill, and I'm realizing I have personally given myself the answers to the question I asked her.
Why was my world destroyed?
Because we were an anthill sitting at the backyard of this world, and even though we were never going to attack them, how were they supposed to be sure that like ants, we won't invade their home.
So the only reasonable thing to do when they found us was to eradicate the threat, thereby destroying the anthill and all the little ants in it, and keeping their world safe.
