Amphere Harrison
As we soared through the skies, I marveled at the awe-inspiring form of Exceria's dragon form, the Pulsar Dragon. Clad in white adamantine armor plates with luminous, glass-like wings resembling an angel, she exuded power and grace. A giant moonstone orb gleamed on her chest, and golden lines reminiscent of Aztec Nazca patterns adorned her body. Her piercing blue eyes bore a cross-like sigil at the center of her pupils, setting her apart from other dragons. With a muscular yet slim build, she appeared almost like a mecha angel from the coolest cartoons.
In comparison to Airi's Chimeratech Dragon, which was undoubtedly formidable, Exceria's Pulsar Dragon seemed to radiate an even greater aura of strength. Airi's previous Futuretech Dragon form, while impressive, couldn't hold a candle to Exceria's majestic presence.
The sight of General Byron Holster's dragon form, the General-class Gum Dragon, amused me. With a pinkish hue resembling bubblegum and a somewhat playful appearance, it seemed like a creation made from a child's play-dough, capable of taking various forms at will. In its current state, it looked like a dragon with a fighter jet's body and a dragon head, a peculiar yet practical design.
After ten minutes of flying at maximum speed, we finally caught sight of the airships. We were just four dragons and their knights, charged with chasing the escaping enemies. We had called for backup, but it would take about thirty minutes for reinforcements to arrive. Meanwhile, the empire knights and generals remained focused on defense, ensuring that the earlier attack wasn't a diversion.
Ascending higher, we took a vantage point above the airships. Several Arcadian dragonoids aimed their rifles towards us, ready for confrontation. Among them, I spotted a familiar face that only I knew to exist, setting off a storm of emotions within me.
"I'm glad that the whole Chevalier Unit is present." The man clapped his hands. "Now you shall be the first to witness my power."
As the black-haired man, Nox, emerged before us, his eye caught my attention. Its appearance was like an onion with multiple layers, each colored black, white, red, orange, green, and gold at the center. Despite his innocent-looking face, I couldn't mistake him – he was one of Dragunov's henchmen and the previous knight of Duchess Corasell. It was the first time I had heard him speak, leaving me surprised by his presence.
Nox clasped his hands, causing four gigantic portals to open, much like Richard's portals. However, unlike Richard's, these portals were pitch black, resembling voids within the dimension itself. The atmosphere filled with a loud whirling sound as dragon heads and claws emerged from these dark portals, with each dragon being distinct from the others.
The first dragon, the Infection Dragon, was a horrifying sight. Its white body was covered with disgusting skin cancer, lacking traditional scales. Its arms looked like braided worms, and it lacked claws. Swarms of flies circled around it, and the stench from this seven-meter dragon was nauseating. It truly resembled a flying dumpster.
The second dragon, the Conquest Dragon, bore similarities to Mark Anthony Octavius's Gladiator dragon. With a humanoid, muscular body adorned in medieval armor and wielding two curved swords, it emanated an aura of power and ferocity. Piles of swords were positioned on its back between its gigantic crimson wings.
The third dragon, the Famine Dragon, was a horrifying sight of malnourishment. Its humanoid body had dark skin and lacked scales or ornate armor. I could even see its ribs protruding from its thin frame. It looked like a furless kitten, yet it was more terrifying than anything I had seen before.
The most peculiar of all was the pale Death Dragon, a flying lizard donned in a dark cloak and wielding a long razor scythe. Its head adorned a ram's skull helmet, featuring a gigantic twirling horn. This dragon was like nothing I had ever encountered.
Each of these dragons had a fully-armored silver knight riding on its head. While they didn't wield traditional weapons, they all held something familiar – a black beating heart, evoking a sense of dread and foreboding.
The sight before us was nothing short of daunting, and the presence of these monstrous dragons, each accompanied by a knight holding a black heart, signaled a formidable challenge. The battle that awaited us would be unlike anything we had faced before, but we remained resolute, standing united as the Chevalier Unit, determined to protect Neo Arcadia and rescue our friend Cleru.
I'm quite familiar with these formidable enemies we're facing. As history recounts, four dragon knights and dragonoids played a crucial role in the establishment of the illustrious Dragon Knights Academy. Each knight was distinguished by their unique colors, much like the flying lizards hovering before us.
It is highly likely that Nox, the sinister mastermind behind these impure resurrections, is responsible for the resurrection of the malevolent Black Phantom, the relentless horde of zombies haunting Twilight City, and now, even these legendary dragon knights. Undoubtedly, all these feats are a result of his dark magic. It is conceivable that he has harnessed the power of a monstrously strong dragonoid by now. We must act swiftly to defeat this fearsome creature!
"What's our next move?" I took the initiative to inquire.
Reina, deep in thought, placed her chin on her hand and presented a well-thought-out strategy. "Engaging all four of them in combat would be time-consuming. We should split our forces into two teams. One team will infiltrate the ships to search for Cleru, and the other will confront the four dragon knights and the Arcadian soldiers head-on."
"Agreed," General Holster affirmed. "Given his exceptional strength, Amphere will take on the legendary dragons. Reina's mastery of portals makes her the ideal candidate for infiltration. That leaves the two of us to..."
"Permission granted to team up with Amphere, sir," Rudolf said enthusiastically. "I've been itching to test my mech arm on those Arcadian bastards."
"Very well," General Holster replied. "In that case, I'll join forces with Reina and search the ships. Good luck to both of you!"
The majestic Portal Dragon, Richard, opened its jaws wide, and a shimmering portal materialized in midair. General Holster and Reina synchronized their Vesryn Pulse, then gracefully leaped into the radiant sphere, teleporting themselves to an undisclosed location among the twenty airships.
As the cannons of the airships unleashed a barrage of deadly fire, the nimble Chaos Dragon and the swift Pulsar Dragon danced and weaved, skillfully evading the incoming projectiles.
"Can you handle the four dragon knights?" Rudolf shouted over the deafening explosions surrounding them.
"Exceria and I will make sure they never rise again! You go ahead and put your arm through a dry run!" Amphere replied confidently.
Rudolf simply grinned in agreement and steered his Chaos Dragon to swoop down toward a ship. It was evident that he was eager to unleash his combat prowess. Rudolf's insatiable hunger for battle knew no bounds, much like my own. But beneath our thirst for action, we were still kindred spirits, united by our shared desires and determination.
Facing four dragon knights and four saintly dragons would usually send me fleeing in fear, even with Airi by my side. But this time is different. I find myself atop the back of the most potent dragon in existence—an immortal Cathedral priestess who bore witness to Vesryn herself.
"Mister Amphere," Exceria's telepathic voice resounded in my mind, seizing my attention. "Let us employ our Dracaryx. I believe our combined power can obliterate them all in one fell swoop."
It's a surreal notion that I can already employ Dracaryx with a dragonoid I met merely a week ago. Such a feat seems almost impossible. However, Exceria herself is already an embodiment of impossibility! I place unwavering trust in her words, with every fiber of my being.
Taking a deep breath, I clasp my hand over my chest, activating my Eye of Deus, and with unwavering determination, I shout, "Let's do this!"
