Chapter 19 - Rallied Cry

With my injured arm I dragged myself to the nearest group of Kobolds.

"ON ME!" I yelled, the sound echoing through the ears of all those around me. I had made it to them, the Kobolds that were nearest to me.

They were invigorated at my yell yet worried about my injuries. It was why I just gave them a slight smile before dragging my broken body back into the fray.

While moving back into combat I couldn't help but take notice of the surroundings. It was like everything had stilled for a moment, the battlefield going quiet before yells of all kind echoed out, uncaring of their own injuries.

It brought joy to my heart despite the pain that I was in. Seeing the Kobolds that I had put so much trust into fighting with renewed vigor and winning.

My attention was brought back to the battle ahead of me as I grew closer and closer to the nearest enemy.

I felt a warmth in my stomach that seemed to be guided by an ethereal hand into my limbs. With that feeling came strength and even though my whole right arm was crippled I could still fight through it with unbelievable strength.

With a burst of speed I found myself next to the nearest enemy, the useless arm flailing behind me as it was whipped by the sudden burst of the wind.

It seemed to draw the attention of my enemy as he took his eyes off of my movements in order to observe my limb.

A mistake, the last he would ever make as the moment his eyes were off of me I swung my sword up.

It had no form, no alignment, just pure force manifested by that very warmth. The sword cut through the arm of the creature and in that very moment it chose to scream.

Maybe if it had tried to fight back and take advantage of the moment I needed to flip it towards its head it would be dead however it didn't and a moment later blood spurt from its neck as it was decapitated.

I retreated back to the center, all the while watching as the Kobolds converged around me so as to protect me but it was not needed.

The battle was over, the only ones left were stragglers and injured ones that could no longer fight.

I held my arm, letting the pain wash over me as it slowly healed.

I could feel the muscles reattaching, the skin regrowing. Yet despite this speed I could tell that it would take weeks, even months before it was healed.

"Hungry…" I mumbled, one of the Kobolds that was guarding me leaving to find something that I could eat.

I watched as he left, my fingers fiddling with the runes in my pocket.

A flex of my good hand and they were crushed. The shards dissipating into the air.

A warm feeling washed over me as I felt the mana within me almost doubling.

I grasped, the air in my lungs being constantly expelled.

[Mana: 2.3]

The Kobolds around me panicked yet I ignored them, I needed… I needed.

'What did I need…' I couldn't think, my vision going black as I lost consciousness.

Again I was in the forge. The sights and sounds around me ringing in my ear.

'Follow'

It was a sound, a voice, something. It pulled me deeper and deeper until I was within the forge itself.

A hand tugged in my own, the ethereal figure once again gracing my gaze.

I couldn't help but stare, despite the fact that I could not understand what her features were I still wanted to try.

A could see the smile, the luscious red lips that seemed to be encouraging me to take them, her hollow eyes that filled me with so much light.

I could see so much, yet I could see nothing.

Her hand let go of mine and I felt wrong. As if all the warmth in the world was gone.

I needed to… I need to grasp it again.

The very same hand reached up to my lips, placing a dainty finger upon it, quieting my protests.

Another hand snaked down, it touched my arm and I felt tired, even within the dream that I knew this was I could feel the drain in my energy. As if my very life force was being drained.

'Tis alright… just still thyself'

My body relaxed at those words, my eyes slowly closing as the drain faded to the wind.

Eventually my wrist was let go of and it was only then that I could look down and see what had been done.

However I was not able to look, the energy in my body failing me.

My eyes closed, though not before I could mouth a goodbye and thank you.

My last sight was of a peaceful smile, one that seemed so very relieved. It warmed my heart.

My eyes fluttered open, a peaceful expression on my face despite the…

'The pain!'

It's gone, the pain in my arm had vanished.

I moved it around before bringing it to eye level. The cuts were still there and the weakness within it that prevented me from using it persisted but the most fatal parts of the wound were gone.

The parts that I worried may have crippled my arm were gone.

I sat up from where I lay and walked around. My body wasn't as tired as it was a moment ago.

Idly I noticed that the Kobolds around me were worrying about me yet I didn't take that much notice of them.

Just idly observing them while walking around in my injured limbs.

It was sort of painful but I had learned how to ignore that.

I was just happy that my limbs weren't useless like I had feared they would be.

It was only then though that I remembered the feeling of warmth and strength that had suddenly appeared on my body during the fight.

I wanted to ask questions of that figure but I had not the chance.

I needed to figure these things out kn my own. It was why I closed my eyes and focused inward.

I traced the feeling of warmth I had been feeling since I had woken up and what I found was breathtaking.

It was like a universe in my own body. Nebulas and galaxies littered the background but what really caught my attention was the dim sun that stood right in front of my face.
